Fluffballs at Midnight

Where was he? Fluffy looks around, scared. This wasn't supposed to happen. He was just supposed to be going out for a short walk without his Housefolk knowing, following a butterfly that he spotted flying about the streets. It was beautiful, though he personally felt he was prettier, it was good enough.

But one thing led to another, and he was no longer in his familiar Evergreen Garden, he wasn't even at the edge. Instead, he was in this place without a single Housefolk in sight. There was only rocks, old rubble, and the wild.

"Where is this place?" Fluffy meows, his voice soft, "It's stinky. Anycat there?"

Now he's stepping around aimlessly, sniffing the air curiously like kittens do, trying to climb what looks like a piece of rubble from an old Housefolk construction. The edges are sharp, but Fluffy doesn't really notice. He's just trying to get to a higher vantage point to get a better view.

* She was on her usual hunt when she heard someone call out. She decided to follow the direction it came from. Upon entering a bit of a clearing she spotted a little kit. She wasn't too surprised by a stray kit it had happened often near her old den. She padded over and called out to the kit that was trying to climb up the ruins. *
" Hey, what are you doing climbing up that? "

The voice startles Fluffy so much that he falls over. His leg loses strength, and he luckily, barely avoids getting hurt on the sharp edge of the structure. It still nicks him, though Fluffy doesn't notice, he's preoccupied with not falling off.

Fluffy sinks his little claws onto the structure, and his hind legs scrabble for safety. From his view, he was in great danger. But in reality, the real danger had already passed. The ground was only a pawstep away, and as long as Fluffy stopped holding on he would safely fall onto the dirt.

"Help!" Fluffy mewls desperately, "I'm too beautiful to die! Save me please!"

* She was already on it. She bounded up the larger pieces of rubble and makes it above Fluffy. She leans down over the edge and grabs him by the scruff. She easily lifts him and carries him down. *

As Midnight bounds over to grab Fluffy by the scruff, Fluffy closes his eyes out of fear. Not only was he about to die, he was about to be eaten by a big, wild cat! He had heard wild cats ate housecats for breakfast.

When she lets him down, however, Fluffy opens his eyes, just a peek. They're wide and round. He lived! And... this cat was very nice?

"You saved me!" Fluffy squeaked. "Thank you, scary big cat! You're not so scary anymore!"

* She laid down loaf style and dipped her head. *
" Of course. I couldn't let such a precious thing like you fall. Your mother must be worried sick about you. "
* She mewed not knowing the kit probably didn't know their mother. Her green eyes glowing in the setting sun. *

"Mother?" Fluffy meows, and his eyes lit up, "You mean my Housefolk? You're right, I should go back... but I'm hungry, can I have something to eat first? I like the fishy, round ones."

His mind jumps from one topic to another, just as quickly as his mood, and he's no longer scared of this wild cat. His neighbor lied to him- wild cats weren't scary, they were really nice! This wild cat even saved him! Fluffy searches for a bowl of kibble on the ground, and tilts his head when he finds none. Even wild cats had to eat, right? He waa sure the friendly cat wouldn't mind if he took a bite or two from her meal bowl.

* Her eyes widened in surprise. *
" Housefolk? You mean twolegs? And round things? We don't eat Kittypet food. We hunt for our own food. I can try and catch you some fish if you want. "
* She tilted her head to the side and racked her mind for where the best fish is. *
