Right Crowtooth wasnt pleased at this turn but at least Ravenhawk had come to tell him he couldnt do the patrol. Though he was still a bit miffed.
"Yer dismissed then but next time, quicker at tellin' me. T'aint fair ta yer patrol mates."
Patrol mates who'd been waiting for him.
"Opposumbug an' Snowpaw, ya hear him Ravenhawk's out, sorry ta keep ya waitin'. Go on yer own an' dont worry about bein' late, this aint yer fault at all but do git moovin'."
Hopefully those two would be fine on their own, Hawkfur trained good apprentices and it was just the thunderclan border, that place was peaceful.

Who he was less happy with was Vixenpaw. Crowtooth had wanted to run a special training/tunneling session to sooth his own nerves and get some good prey and one of the apprentices he'd chosen had been a no show! Honestly the tunnelers view of his apprentices younger sibling was dropping quickly, a bad thing given he was the teacher for the really advanced tunneling skills. Skills Vixenpaw, a tunneling apprentice, might want to learn in the future.


With a huff the tom roared "VIXENPAW! LAST CHANCE OR IM TELLIN' DUSTBUNNY YA MIGHT BE TO IMMATURE TA BE A TUNNELER JUST YET! PATROLS ARE IMPORTANT!" resolving to leave with just Vinepaw and let the other apprentice catch up on his own. If he could. This just wasnt fair to ever prompt Vinepaw, really.


"Right kiddo sorry for this mess, why dont we head out now an' if Vixenpaw doesnt show I can teach ya some special skills while we hunt as an apology. Yer done wit' general diggin'-tunnelin' right? An' reliable, I think that means yer ready for the dangerous but cool stuff though it is optional.


Follow me out an' think on if yer interested, fer now lets get this started."
With that the tom stood and left, still slightly holding hope Vixenpaw would tag along to learn the ropes.

Vinepaw watched with a mix of frustration and sympathy as Crowtooth roared for Vixenpaw. The older tom’s voice carried a clear edge of disappointment, and Vinepaw could understand why. It was frustrating when someone didn’t show up for something important, especially when it was clear how much effort Crowtooth had put into planning the session.

When Crowtooth turned his attention to him, Vinepaw tried to put on a reassuring smile. “It’s alright, Crowtooth. I appreciate you still letting me come along. I’m ready for whatever you have planned.”

Crowtooth’s offer of teaching him special skills in place of the missed session piqued Vinepaw’s interest. “I’m all done with general tunneling,” Vinepaw confirmed. “I’d love to learn the more advanced techniques, especially if it means I get to be a bit more challenged.”

As Crowtooth led the way out of camp, Vinepaw followed with renewed determination. He pushed aside his irritation at Vixenpaw’s absence and focused on the opportunity ahead. This was a chance to prove his dedication and learn from one of the best, and he was eager to make the most of it.
