Daffodilpaw couldn't help rolling her eyes at Quailpaw's boasting. "Oh c'mon." She meowed, her tail twitching with impatience. "You're an apprentice just like me. We're both still learning how to be full warriors. You're not better than me, or any other cat." She glanced at Cloverkit, keeping an eye on her in case she tried launching herself at the other apprentice so she could intervene if needed.

Quailpaw seemed to be completely ignoring Cloverkit at this point, turning to face Daffodilpaw instead. "Yeah, yeah, the whole warrior in training thing. But you see, I am better, and I can very easily prove it!" Quailpaw spat.
Ashkit let the information sink in. So that’s how they can keep healthy, he thought. He nodded in understanding. Ashkit wondered whether he would be a medicine cat apprentice later. Probably not.
“Well I know a bit of the clans from my… mother, and Willowpaw, who took me here, told me more about it. And as I have passed by other clans… well the cats in those talked about their clan.” He then mimicked one of the warriors he had met. “‘What are you doing on ThunderClan territory?’ That’s what a big cat with a lot of scars said.” said the kit. He still remembered the encounter, where the big cat seemed very protective of a small cat next to him.
“So what I understood from the clans is that they hate each other, don’t like intruders and that there are four clans. One’s ThunderClan, one’s ShadowClan, there’s WindClan and I don’t know the last one. And I know there are ranks in the clan, but I’m not sure of what are those. So that’s everything I know from the clans.” Said Ashkit.
Ashkit took advantage of Quailpaw speaking to throw the ball to Cloverkit. He wondered why their conversation was so venomous. “Ha! Didn’t see that coming right?” He said playfully to the apprentice.

With a grunt of anger, Quailpaw seemed to give up, stomping out of the nursery dramatically. "Last time I try to challenge little kits," she grumbled under her breath as she exited the nursery.

Daffodilpaw's gaze followed Quailpaw as she left, and she couldn't hold back a sigh. "Can't say I'm too sad to see her go...oh well. She turned back to Cloverkit and Ashkit. "Don't mind her." She meowed, waving her tail dismissively. "Maybe she bit into some bad prey today." Whatever the cause, Daffodilpaw was relieved that the situation de-escalated itself. The nursery was no place for quarrels.
This apprentice was definitely bad tempered. Ashkit added Quailpaw to his cats-to-avoid list, that was still blank before that. “Did we do something wrong?” Asked the kit.

Daffodilpaw shook her head at Ashkit's question. Giving her a comforting lick behind her ears. "No, Ashkit. Some cats are just...different." She meowed, trying to select her words carefully. She didn't want to poison the kit's opinion of Quailpaw, despite what Daffodilpaw herself thought. But she didn't want the tiny kit to blame herself for Quailpaw's behavior either. "We are all responsible for our own behavior, don't forget that."
Upon hearing her name - or what she understood to be her name when it came to her littermates - in a by now familiar voice, Cardinalkit's ears perked up, the disappointed frown that had marred her youthful, still newborn looking features disappeared in an instant, replaced by lit up pale green eyes and an open mouthed happy gasp. Seedkit had woken up! All on her own! Fine... maybe sometimes being polite and giving cats their space and respect turned out okay. Didn't make Snowydad any less of a pushover, but the little kit could admit when the overly soft giant's teachings had sort of proven themselves to be semi useful for once. Of course, this thought drifted out of her mind as soon as it crossed it, her speckled nose wrinkling as she stood up with purpose, wobbling over to attempt a pounce on her sister's still sleepy form.
"Was 'on? Was 'on?!" the kit demanded in mock anger, the playful taps she attempted to paw over her sister's ear easily making it clear there was no real vitriol in her words despite her best efforts to act contrary to this. "You 'eepy. An' no one wake. 'ow wok on 'ein besh if no one wake?"
Small giggles escaped the kit as she attempted to coax Seedkit out of her sleepy state and into a more playful one, her words determined but much like her stance unrefined. Wobbly. Far too new to be perfected. A part of her vaguely remembered that she had wanted to share news with her sister. Something important. Almost as important as them - her and her littermates, that was - but it was gone at the moment. Playtime far too powerful a call for anything else.
