Daffodilpaw laughed victoriously. "Never!" She called back, unsheathing her claws to improve her grip and speed up as she continued on the path back to camp.

As this point, Elkjump was exhausted so he slowly made his way back to camp. “Let me grab something to eat then we can get a hunting lesson in before dusk."

Daffodilpaw's fur was a mess, but as she pranced circles around Elkjump she was the picture of boundless energy. "Okay!" She purred. She followed him to the fresh kill and grabbed a rabbit, returning to his side. She set the rabbit down in front of him. "Share?" She asked, her head tilted to the side.

Daffodilpaw beamed at Elkjump, then settled down next to him to share the rabbit. She could feel energy filling her muscles as they ate. When she finished her share, she took a step back and bowed her head. Thank you StarClan, for providing this nourishment. She prayed silently. She then turned her attention to cleaning her face and whiskers, before turning and trying to groom out the worst of the knots in her pelt from all that running.

Daffodilpaw was working out a particularly stubborn knot when Elkjump spoke. She forced it out, but pulled out some of her own fur in the process. "Hey! No fair!" She protested, spitting out the pieces of fur. "I can't help it if my pelt is still plush!" It was true, she still had some of the softness of a young cat's pelt. But there wasn't much hope for that to change with her father being a long-furred tom. She didn't concede to that point though, only grumbled as she looked at her new sore spot on her pelt. Stupid dad and his stupid long fur...

She didn't actually hate her father, she was very close with both of her parents. But right now, she very much wished she shared more of her mother's pelt that the in-between plush coat she had. Ugh, oh well. There was nothing for it, her pelt was her own. She turned to Elkjump, her tail waving excitedly behind her. "Sooooo....?" She asked, her eyes glinting with excitement as she waited for Elkjump to say the magic words: time to hunt!
