GoldenKit stepped out of the nursery. A strong smell awakening him. He trotted over to the edge of the camp following his nose.

A loud bang rung through the forest and lighted up the sky. He jumped sky high. His paws almost moved on his own when he ran behind a rock. His heart pounding and his fur puffed out. He looked up into the sky watching the last off the sparks disappear.

Dogchase

Picking his way across camp, he trotted towards the warrior's den. The night was cool, and he had a long day of patrols. He wanted to cuddle up in his warm nest and let himself drift to sleep. Bang! Pop! Dogchase's head snapped up. A beautiful display of colors filled the air, scattering in different directions before disappearing. He smiled and relaxed he had seen these before, they were a Twoleg toy. There was nothing the fear from them, although they were rare. Maybe I should stay out a little longer to watch them. But he continued on his way back to the den. It was just too cold!

A flash of golden caught his attention. He turned towards it in surprise. A kit? He trotted over to where he had seen them disappear. He found a young kitten staring at the sky, his mouth agape, his eyes stretched wide in horror. Worry etched its way onto his face. It's his first summer. The brown warrior recalled his own first time watching this loud and frightening show. No cat had been there then. He made his way to sit beside the little tom. Well, some cat would be here now. "Hey buddy, it's alright. They're just a weird Twoleg thing." He tried to make his voice sound soft, but it still came out gravely. Maybe this hadn't been such a good idea. He didn't know the first thing about making cats feel better, let alone kits!

GoldenKit turned to look at the warrior. "Oh." After another firework went off GoldenKit scuttled under DogChase's legs. His paws were shaking, and his tail was tightly wrapped around his legs. Why were Twolegs so weird. Don't they know that lightening is dangerous. He assumed that the fireworks were just colored lightening. "Do they do this a lot?" He hoped that they wouldn't ever do this again. his eyes dropped to his paws, and he braced for another firework.
