Crowbreeze looked up with surprise as he heard the call. The voice was young, an apprentice no doubt. Crowbreeze scanned the area carefully, scrutinizing every single detail and every single cat around. Cloverkit. A kit? In a race? I expect dead last. Harewhisker.

Ashkit wondered what all the fuss was about and stepped outside of the nursery. Leopardsong was busy anyways, he guessed he could have some little fun and get to know more cats. He approached the crowd of cats and tried to know what was going on. The kit overheard cats talking about a race. Hmm, he thought, maybe I could try to participate too! He tried to find if anyone he knew was there. Nope. Not yet. I guess I’ll wait if they come and try to catch what to do… He told to himself.

Opossumbug looked over at the young apprentice that padded up beside him, he let a soft grin seeing the apprentice was excited, he loved to see the younger clan mates happy. "Well I don't run much! But it's worth the shot, I am pretty fast! And yes I'm opossumbug!" he said with the soft grin still stuck on his brown freckled face. "I probably wont win though, these legs are rusty!" he said jokingly.
Then he looked over at the other apprentice that also padded up to him excited as excited could get, he let a friendly tail flick from his tail. "Yes! Very exciting! Good to see y'all both excited!" he said talked to both apprentices. He still had to let it sink in that he could call rabbitpaw a tunneler apprentice anymore, he had to call rabbitpaw medicine cat apprentice now, it wouldn't take long to get used to though.

”Yeah I’m excited!” Daffodilpaw exclaimed, spinning in a circle with a purr. “I’m going to be the fastest cat in WindClan one day you know!” She stated matter-of-factly, lifting her head with pride.
A small head peeks out of the nursery at the call and then the chatter that followed. It would take Viperkit a minute or two to finally decide to bounce out and join everyone...trying to ensure that there was no moss stuck to her fur this time.
Now, she knew what a race was, but she had never really participated in one before, only seen them happen between other kits, part of her wondered if watching the grown-ups would reveal some kind of special pose or skill she had yet to develop for it…or even a secret technique! Oh, that would be so cool!
She approached the group of cats, so many faces she had yet to meet, with her usual bouncy, happy-go-lucky step, unsure of where to focus her attention “Uh…hi! I’m not too late for racing, right? I tried to not oversleep this time! I heard kits can participate too?”
Crowkit was attempting to dig out the tree root thingy from the kit area... coraaals? Well he wasn't actually sure what exactly he was planning to do with the thing if he ever managed to get it out, but something! That was for sure. Maybe he would drag it to his hoard of little things he's been gathering that he's been hiding under a nest in the back of the nursery, but this root would be harder to hide then the shiny pebbles and rocks that he's been gathering. But it was worth a shot, worst case scenario, he would use it in a trick or a prank... but howwwww? As the tiny kit used all of his limited focus on thinking of a prank that would need a tree root, someone's voice caught his attention and he flicked an ear as he turned to stare at the source.
It was less so the voice that caught his attention, but what they were saying, Crowkit had no idea who they were but they said 'race.' Race? What's a race? Has anyone told him what a race is yet? Hmmm, the little kit doesn't think so and that piques his interest even more. Maybe papabird will be able to tell this little bird what a race was... OOOO it was for kits as well?! That meant that Crowkit just had to ask papa now so that he could know and join and then maybe papa will join Crowkit and help him! Yes!
The little kit left the tree root from where he was making barely any dents in actually digging it out, and started his way over to the nursery where he was pretty sure his papa was. Hopefully, he was there but if not then Crowkit will just have to join anyways! And then he can tell Papabird about it later after the whole thing and then let Papa know that little crow was upset at him not being here to do whatever this race is together. Though he wouldn't be mad at papa for very long. It would just be play huffing. Pretending! Crowkit liked playing pretend. Blue eyes peered into the nursery in search, "Papa?"

Hawkfur looked up from his spot next to Bravebird, noticing Crowkit's dappled grey and red body staring at him from the nursery entrance. Hawkfur smiled, the darkness hiding the exaustion in his gaze. He carefully pushed himself to his paws, stepping silently over his mate before following his son into the sunlight. He squinted against it as his azure eyes tried to adjust to the stark light difference. Hawkfur could see cats gathering, and for a moment he wondered in fear if this was a battle patrol. He hadn't been paying as much attention to the clan has he should have been this last moon, so it was entirely possible he missed them declaring war. Though that all seemed to be a worry of his overactive imagination as he saw kits trot up to the group cheering about a race. Oh stars... the last race he competed in... he didn't actually remember the outcome, funnily enough.
The Fury looked down at his son who was staring at him expectantly. "What can I do for you, kitto?" He leaned down to rasp his tongue over his son's ears. "Were you thinking of joining that race?" If even one of his kits turned out to be a runner like he and their mother... stars, what a dream.
Another race? How original. Her clanmates really liked playing into the ‘Windclan is fast’ stereotype, huh? Deadmoon didn’t particularly feel like getting cooked in sprints by apprentices, but the trash talking was certainly amusing. She took a seat a bit away from the crowd (hopefully to remain unnoticed) and listened to the banter, snorting out loud at Vinepaw and Wildpaw. She had expected the taunts from Wildpaw, but it was funny to see the rather proper Vinepaw shoot the breeze too. And then she was missing Rookscreech again, her smile quickly becoming a scowl.
