Perhaps his temper was a bit.... frayed by the current situation given Crowtooth wouldve usually handled this with more grace but he noticeable twitched and raised a single eyebrow at Fleetsmokes rambled, almost confused. "Yeeees(?) Id say yer right given that sounds exactly like what lightnin'storm just described the herbs ta be like. Maybe ya missed that though." He forced his unwarranted emotions down though and settled in to wait for his apprentice, reminding himself that this was to be a nice outing and he'd be back soon to make sure Bravebird wasnt alone, not that Hawkfur was leaving her side at all.
The tunneler couldnt help but grin at the apprentices enthusiasm, Rabbitpaw rambling off herb theories Crowtooth had frankly no clue about, head half tilted. "Dunno who yer askin' that question ta but I assure ya kiddo I know nothin' about plants so I couldnt tell ya if riverclans are different. Suppose yer gonna have ta find out though while we're there, lets git goin'."
The tom stood, shaking himself and with a flick of the tail guided the two to the border, by this point more then familiar with that border and how to cross it with the other clan gone.
Gesturing for Vinepaw to sit beside him while they waited for Vixenpaw the toms ears dipped a bit, musing "No, I aint seen Vixenpaw since his mother died," and Crowtooth wasnt going to force the kid near him given he himself blamed himself for not being able to save Quailheart. "But I think Rabbitpaw's been watchin' him. I trust he'll be ok though, kids are resilient an' Vixenpaw in particular is strong. Stars if this moons not been real rough on us all though....."
The tunneler might not know the details but he was to interconnected with Vinepaw not to be unaware the apprentice had his own pain.
He jolted a bit as Lightningpaw came up and asked a question that jolted pain through the fury's heart, ears dipping a bit as he nevertheless answered. "Ah, sorry kid I guess ya just got lost in the chaos. Ya shouldve been told.
Well ya know Bravebird just had her kittens? Well it was gonna take some time fer her ta be up an' about after, frankly ya shouldve had a temporary reassignment as soon as she was retired ta the nursery but I think Brave pitched a fit. Further.... Well she's taken a bit poorly after the birth but Ive faith she'll recover." She had to or Crowtooth's heart would break. "If ya wanna see her an' visit the kittens (theyre pretty damn cute) just ask Hawkfur, but after the patrol. Chop chop kiddo, git."
Of course the great tragedy was that Lightningpaw would not have a chance to ever meet his mentor alive again, with how fast she was declining. Crowtooth was lying to himself in desperation here but in truth even he was breaking under the reality.
That was later though, for now he waited for Vixenpaw.

Lightningpaw would listen to Crowtooth telling him about the condition of Bravebird and when he mentioned Bravebird would certainly be up and about soon he would smile. "Yeah your right! It'll take more than a birth to take down Bravebird!" Lightningpaw would purr feeling confident his Mentor would be alright. Of course he didn't realize how bad things were with Bravebird at the moment. But still he felt better about going on his patrol now. "Well I have a patrol to do bye Crowtooth." Lightningpaw meowed to the fury with a respectful farewell and dashed off to Silverrose. "Sorry to keep you waiting Silverrose. Was asking about Bravebird." Lightningpaw told his Patrol leader. @Estelle

Lightningpaw watched Barleypaw approached them for their Patrol. She seemed excited that was good. "So what do you think we will find at the border? I'm sure the prey there might be slightly different from our normal prey." Lightningpaw asked Barleypaw he was glad to be going on a Patrol with her he couldn't understand why but when Barleypaw was around it made Lightningpaw feel happier. And given the way things were going with Bravebird well he needed that.

Entering through the tunnel, Dapplebreeze led the patrol back home, all three clasping herbs in their maw. Frankly, the patched fury thought the patrol had been a complete success. Redfang and Mosspaw had both been wonderful patrolmates. She had seen many a cat complain to Lightningstorm and Crowtooth of late concerning their patrols. Cats not showing up. Full patrols not bothering to take care of their tasks. It was always refreshing to be able to look at the cats who had been lazily coasting by in the clan and point at these wondrous clanmates, letting them know that there was still excellence to be found among their ranks. Especially when it came to something as important as herbs. Many scoffed at the idea of heading out to hunt for the medicine cat's storages, but the former queen knew far too well what a clan without herbs looked like. She only hoped the rest of her clan could see it as clearly as the two darlings that she had worked with today did.
"Lightningstorm, dear," she mewed, depositing the sorrel before the calico as the two met halfway. "We bring wondrous news. While perhaps not enough to make regular trips to find these herbs out in the meadows, we all managed to find what you sought. Redfang was particularly observant, finding the tansy as I gathered the sorrel. There were also some strange herbs back there that both Mosspaw and Redfang found. I ordered for them to be left well alone, uncertain of their properties. Thought it be prudent to report them, although I do believe my patrolmates will be able to better describe them for you in their own reports. They observed the herbs far longer than I did."
Report done, the fury turned towards her patrolmates, tilting her head curiously at them as Lightningstorm turned her attention from herself to Redfang and Mosspaw as well. Hopefully, the herbs discovered were little more than weeds. Useless, harmless greenery that simply existed in the meadows. The last thing they needed was an outbreak of dangerous herbs in the area. Although knowing the medicine cat and her disdain of all things poisonous after the disaster that happened only last leafbare when she was still apprenticing under their former medicine cat, if there was any possibility of danger from these herbs she would squash them down. Cheeky as the calico was, no one could ever claim she did not take her job serioustly at the very least.

Regardless of whether they were just weeds or an actual problem, do let me know, as I will probably be having Lightningstorm search the meadows later on for the mystery herbs so she can assess what they found. Redface positively glows at the praise, chest puffed and chin higher than it had been prior as he turns in the goods alongside his patrolmates. He's beaming like a giddy apprentice now. Observant. Teehee. Teeheehee.
Then—oh, scuff, he's gotta back that compliment up now, huh? Brown eyes wide and tail alert, Redface scrambles to remember the flowers he'd encountered. The not-tansy. He'd leave the report about the other stuff, the dark leafy greens without any blooms, to Mosspaw; those were his discovery, and Redface wasn't about to steal an apprentice's thunder. The not-tansy, though? That was all Redface.
"Sooo, right! There were these yellow flowers I almost pulled insteada this tansy 'cause I nearly thought it was the right stuff—it ain't, though, it's different. It looked a li'l more dandelion-y than the little fuzzy tansies, here, but I don't think it was dandelions, since there were sort of like...lots of flowers to one stem? Sort of, bunched up at the ends, you see. Um. Fuzzy leaves at the bottom...least, they looked fuzzy. I didn't wanna touch 'em in case they itched." He feels like his description might be lacking but, frankly, that's all he really recalls about the plant. While he's certain he's just overthinking and overdescribing dandelions right now, what Redface had actually encountered was hawkweed. No real problem, just flowers in a field.
With the report delivered via ear-to-ear grin, he gets a-movin'. "Mosspaw could tell you about his mystery," (unless, of course, there's nothing to be said) "but that's all from me. 'Cept, actually, I wanna put in a good word for Mosspaw an' Dapplebreeze; super good patrolmates, good cats. Dapplebreeze was Furying it way up there, you shoulda seen. And she came through with great descriptions 'n examples of what all you wanted us to get an' I almost thought Mosspaw was a newer warrior with how good a job he was doin'. You should be extra nice to 'em next time they gotta see you. Pamper 'em, like. Get 'em the big, cushy nests. Minor suggestion. Uh, happy to help, and take care Lightningstorm, and take care, you two!"
Okay, so, he's gonna express his satisfaction with a quick job well done in the annoyingest most longwindedest way he knows how—it is what it is. Redface doesn't wanna just take off without hyping anyone up, but maybe he realizes that the effusive yapping isn't significantly better because there's a short, almost apologetic laugh before he takes his leave for good, bounding off to go find something else to grin about.
Oh NOW he showed up. Deadmoon ground her teeth as Sunpaw came puffing up behind her and Honeypaw. For a myriad of reasons, really. One, because he had managed to catch up to them so she must have been running too slowly, even though much faster would have been painful. Two, that she was reminded again of his little disappearing act. And three, she didn’t get to properly rip into him, albeit in absentia, for shirking off. The last reason wasn’t exactly proper (actually none of them were), but Deadmoon was in far too foul of a mood to care.
Well well, look who finally joined us. she spat, tail lashing potentially in a direction which might whack Sunpaw on the face if she got lucky. Finally decided to be useful, not that we didn’t already know you were a slacker. Did she actually KNOW the reason behind his demotion? No. But could she guess based on a lack of violence or arguments and this little display? Yes.
Having been needlessly cruel to not only Honeypaw but now Sunpaw, Deadmoon stalked into camp with her broom. Even as irate as she was there was a degree of self preservation that remained, so she approached Lightningstorm rather than entering the mollys den. Nope, didn’t feel like death today. She spat out the broom, ushering the apprentices to do the same with several impatient flicks of her tail. Nothing to report. she huffed, turning tail and not really caring whether Lightningstorm had anything else to say to her. (Apologies for Deadmoon’s behavior y’all!).
