Kittypets? Heathernose watched, stunned, as Flamemane simply trotted off. She felt her mind whirling. Why hadn’t Lionscar told her any of this when they promised no more secrets? But then…she never asked. So did that count? And why did Flamemane decide now of all times to drop this on them?

She could feel Lionscar’s eyes on her, she knew that he was waiting for her to respond. To say something, anything. She felt the same desperation under her pelt, she wanted to say or do anything. Let Lionscar know that things were okay. But they weren’t okay…and she knew exactly whose fault that was. Her anger had a direction, and right now that was the most powerful emotion and thought she had going through her body. This was his fault.

Before Heathernose could fully comprehend what she was doing, she found herself pelting after Flamemane, her body close to ground. Claws unsheathed, she launched herself at Flamemane with a furious yowl.

Did he…was that fleabag openly challenging her? Heathernose’s eyes narrowed at Flamemane, her lips drawn back in a snarl. “You dare to challenge me?” She growled. “I should rip your face off for what you’ve done to my mate! You shouldn’t tempt me further.” The words came out before she really considered what she was saying. It still didn’t dawn on her that she referred to Lionscar as her mate out loud for the first time. She wouldn’t have wanted it to be in such a bitter scenario, but the words felt so natural to her it didn’t register to her that she said it.

Heathernose stood for a moment, contemplating continuing her attack. But the tone in Lionscar’s voice eventually reached her. She felt her fur start to relax. But before she could relax her claws, she shot a blow to scratch Flamemane on the nose, like he had done to her before.

Part of Heathernose was still willing and ready for that fight Flamemane seemed to want so badly. But something in her snapped when she felt Lionscar’s tail. She looked at him and nodded, giving one last spit of warning in Flamemane’s direction before turning away to follow Lionscar.

After a moment of walking in silence, she stopped and turned to look at him. “I’m so sorry…” She meowed, averting her eyes. “I didn’t mean to lose control like that… I just couldn’t take it anymore…”

Heathernose looked back up at Lionscar and met his gaze again. She studied his eyes for a moment before nodding in understanding. "I know what you mean." She murmured, slowly a teasing grin formed on her muzzle. "I felt the same way not too long ago when a certain somecat charged at him too." She purred, touching her muzzle to his cheek.

He laughed. "i have no clue what you're talking about". He booped her not with his paw. @Luna16
