Heathernose licked the scratch on her nose, tasting blood. She nodded. "It stings, but it's not deep." It wasn't bleeding a lot either, so she wasn't too worried about it. She buried her muzzle in Lionscar's fur, and finally felt herself tremble a little. It was all so...weird! And jarring! She couldn't understand why Firemane, a clanmate, would act like that!

Heathernose was all too appreciative of the comfort, and leaned into it. She gradually was able to steady her breathing, and after a moment found her voice again. "I'm almost scared to go back now..." She meowed with a slight chuckle, but again she was only half kidding. After all, it was on their way back to camp that Firemane...essentially ambushed them. Maybe he got into the catmint stores or something? She mentally shook herself, the cause didn't really matter. She didn't really feel very safe at the moment, and she wasn't sure what to do about it. She certain they couldn't stay out here all night though...she could only imagine the stress that might put on their clanmates. "What should we do?" She looked at Lionscar, for once feeling pretty helpless and part of her hated every moment of that feeling.

Heathernose studied Lionscar's eyes for a moment before nodding her head. She found that she believed him, not just because he was a tom with feelings for her but because she found herself starting to truly trust him. She knew that working together, they'd be safe. And she felt her anxiety ebb away. "Okay." She agreed, rising to her paws. "Let's head back then." She meowed, turning back towards camp. She waited to walk next to him again, feeling his fur brush against her's gave her comfort. She licked another droplet of blood from the scratch on her nose, but didn't let the anger she felt interrupt the comfort she was feeling now.

Flash forward a few days…

Heathernose trotted happily outside of the camp, knowing Lionscar was not far behind her. In the past few days, they’d started making a habit of going hunting together in the morning. Heathernose was thrilled to be able to share her early morning runs and hunts with another cat at long last. She had spent so much time doing it on her own, she didn’t realize how much it was something she wanted to share.

She gradually picked up her pace to a casual run, delighting in the sensation of the chilly dawn wind billowing through her fur and ruffling it. Sure she had just groomed it (as best as she could) before leaving that morning, but she didn’t care if it got all ruffled again. Her fur was usually like that anyway. She looked over her shoulder as she approached the open moorlands, checking that Lionscar was keeping up. “C’mon Lionscar!” She called to him. “The day waits for no cat!”

Lionscar ran up to her then he looked in front of her. "Oh great Flamemane is back!" he hissed. Flamemane approached the two cats with a taunting grin. @Luna16
