Right! Time to get cracking on Wolfpaws training!

After that outing to riverclan where Mudhound had spent most of their free time teaching Wolfpaw the best ways to move and run and jump (kinda, jumping would always be limited for tripods), and scramble up surfaces it was time to move on to other trainable clan skills. Like hunting! Mudhound had no doubt Wolfpaw would be able to hunt and fight just as well as any other cat, even if climbing would be forever out of his reach. It was just the unfortunate reality, lose a front leg and you could very very poorly climb but a back leg? Not an option.


But there was other skills to replace climbing and that was for later, again now, hunting!


Leading the tom out to the territory, tail wagging as they did they stopped at a clearing stretching their muscles out and indicating Wolfpaw do the same before they got started.


"Ok, hunting! Lets get started and Im sure youre gonna be great but if you have any questions or need help just ask!

So, first you crouch low with your belly fur juuuuuuust above the grass and keep your tail low too, if you have it waving high then the prey will see it. Then keep your legs tight to you, it might be easier to be low if theyre spread out but that makes it harder to stalk and pounce as all your power comes from keeping your legs bent!
Youre a tripod so your stance is gonna be a bit wider then most cats so your front paws are gonna be a big wider then shoulder length and shiiiiiiift that back leg under your middle so you can leap off of it.

Finally if you have large ears you might wanna keep them pinned! It doesnt help you hearing but ears peaking out above your hiding spot will tell prey youre there! This is the basics of every hunting crouch and once you got it stalking and pouncing will be easy so show me your best shot kiddo!"
