This time went better, up until Whitepaw seemed to hurt himself. Wolfhive rushed to his side immediately - fur bristling. "What... happened?" Did he step on a thorn?

Whitepaw looked down at his bruised foot. "Jutht a thtone." said he. "Dih Ai do bettah thah tihme?"

Relief flooded through him when Wolfhive saw no blood. Just a rock, and one not sharp enough to break skin. "Yes... much better. You... want.. to keep.. going?" If his paw hurt too much, Wolfhive wouldn't force it - but Whitepaw would only improve with practice.

Whitepaw felt useless. Less than useless, actually. He just messed up everything. His head dropped, his tail hung down, and his ears where in a discouraged. "Aih thihnk Aih'd bettah tahke a breahk."

Wolfhive didn't really understand the change in Whitepaw's demeaner. OK, correction: he knew he was upset, he just didn't understand the why behind it. "What's going on?" Then, reminded Whitepaw might not catch it so quickly. "Why... the... long... face?"

"Oh, nonsense." Wolfhive shook his head. "Get.. that thought... outta your head! We... got cats... missing limbs, they.. .can't see... some can't smell. Hearing.. is.. like that. Not easy, ... but you can... still make... a fine warrior." He reached to bop his ear gently, before drawing back. Because he was talking so much, he was trying to be as articulate as possible for Whitepaw's ease. "Just takes.. time. Lots of learning. We'll... both.. make.. a lot of mistakes, ...but we'll grow and... be better from it. ..When you're done... you're gonna be one... of ThunderClan's best."

"Well.. I.. know so." Wolfhive raised his paw to very lightly bop it against Whitepaw's forehead. "Let's ..try again, .. 'n then we'll.. head back, okay?"
