Heathernose withdrew her paw, but she was unconvinced. “Why in the name of StarClan would I do that?” She asked, leaning forward. “Nothing could ever keep us from being friends. You’re scaring me now Lionscar.” She added, searching his eyes and expression for any kind of clue of what it was he wanted to say. She could tell it was something dreadfully important. And the more the yellow tom hesitated, the more nervous she felt about it. She just couldn’t shake a foreboding feeling in the pit of her stomach.

Lionscar hesitated for a minute but then spoke. "I have a crush on you." he mewed expecting a horrible reaction from her.

Heathernose froze for a moment, feeling her blood turn to ice. Did she hear that right? "Y-You...what?" She felt like the ground beneath her paws was spinning. She didn't know how she was supposed feel about this, but she at least knew she didn't want to end their friendship over it. That would be ridiculous. Especially since she didn't have a grasp on her feelings. It wasn't something she had really given much thought to, she had planned on avoiding topics like this until much later.

She needed more time to think, but she knew the more time she took the more anxious Lionscar would become. She needed to at least tell him something now. Flicking her tail thoughtfully, she looked Lionscar in the eyes and couldn't help but feel tormented by the strong feelings she could see swimming around in his eyes. His anxiety, the truth behind his words, it was all there now. "Lionscar I..." She took a moment to take a breath and steady her mew. "I'm not saying no." She added quickly, placing her paw back on top of his. "But I do need some time to think. Can we meet up tomorrow?" She asked, meeting his gaze steadily. "At the Thunderglade? Moonhigh? I promise I'll have an answer for you then."

Heathernose was glad to see that Nightshade seemed more calm now. "I was just assigned my first apprentice recently." She meowed. "The special challenge is that I'm taking over for the previous mentor. So that's a bit nerve-wracking...but I'm sure every apprentice-mentor relationship has it's own set of challenges." She hadn't meant to babble on as she did, and licked her chest in embarrassment. She could hear her apprentice's voice in the clearing, but didn't feel quite ready to take her out for training just yet. Being the young warrior that she was, she knew she had a lot to prove and work out. But she was quite content sitting here chatting casually with Nightshade rather than having to watch her pawsteps with her apprentice. I should probably let her have fun with her friends for a bit anyway...right? She couldn't restrain a sigh. I just wish I knew if I was doing the right thing or not...

Watertail's eyes narrowed, "Pranking your mentor isn't good. Setting a good impression especially as a new apprentice is a good thing, save pranks for later in the apprenticeship." Watertail's blue eyes lit up mischeviously, "Trust me, from experience they barely even punish you." He purred, "I pranked my mentor once...... the longer you wait the more you..... lets say fester up a good plan." Watertail teased.
