Heathernose's ears perked up when she heard her name. She turned and found a young white she-cat calling her, and assumed this was Snowpaw. For a heartbeat, she froze. Her heart pounding as she realized fully that this was now her apprentice. Her actions, and the way she mentored this young cat, would shape the kind of warrior they grew into being. The weight of her responsibility seemed to come crashing down on her shoulders like an enemy, but she forced herself to keep her composure and her fur to lie flat as she walked over to Snowpaw.

She touched noses with her apprentice, and gave her a small smile. "Hello, Snowpaw. I guess we'll be working together now." She meowed. Her voice smooth as calm water. "First, you'll have to show me what you've learned from Hawkfur. And we can go from there. Sound fair?"

Um, what the heck was this cat all about? She acted so nervous. Must be her first, because she didn't act like she knew much about it. And asking her, sound fair? Okay, this cat was no doubt quite easy to trick. Snowpaw smiled inwardly, but not showing her thoughts at all. "Yeah, that sounds fine!" she said cheerfully. "Hawkfur taught me hunting, and showed me the territory. But I only did mouse hunting." Snowpaw did her best not to start laughing, because she didn't think that was very polite. Even though this cat was just so nervous and eager to please, and had no clue how to talk to her apprentice without sounding like she was trying to talk to a kit. At least, that's what Snowpaw was seeing. Her smile was one of, 'hi, nice to meet you,' although this cat clearly knew nothing about her, and Snowpaw had already found something about this cat just by watching and talking to her. Snowpaw, however, continued to keep her less-than-flattering thoughts on her new mentor to herself. Snowpaw had respected Hawkfur more than this cat! (OOC sorry if Snowpaw is mean. Your cat is great, really nice and considerate, although Snowpaw will have a hard time respecting her. Silver Tongue purrk in use! So I'm not outwardly rude to Heathernose.)

Rabbitpaw flicked an ear as he was suddenly pulled from his thoughts by the words of one of his friends. Vinepaw... oh no, he looks worried! Was Rabbitpaw so obvious about his anxiety that someone took notice. He really didn't want to worry anyone, he was... mostly okay, just overthinking. Normal Rabbitpaw things. He opens his mouth to speak when suddenly the voice of his mentor cuts him off. Calling both him and Vinepaw over... oh. His friend was already padding over and Rabbitpaw was quick to follow, sitting down in front of his mentor and looked up at the taller tom as he allowed him to clean his fur as he wished. It made his chest burn, and he felt like he wanted to cry... but it wasn't in a bad way, well not all the way bad way. It just reminded him of his mom cleaning up his fur from his first apprentice ceremony. No, not right now Rabbitpaw, not right now.

The next to appear, because there were many, was his brother. Vixenpaw, cheerful as he approached. Was it a facade? No. It seemed genuine, but how was he... after mom. Rabbitpaw blinked and leaned down a bit with a small half purr noise that fell kind of flat after a moment, "I love you too, Vixenpaw. Though you're cooler." He smiled... Vinepaw spoke again, and Rabbitpaw looked at him with a look of confusion. His warrior name? No... but, now that he was thinking about it, that was the most logical conclusion about everything. Rabbitpaw gave Vinepaw a smaller, slightly more smile, before answering vaguely, "Something like that."

Luckily, before Rabbitpaw would be forced to explain the strange answer, yet another feline joined the small forming party around the blonde apprentice. Not that he truly minded, he was just getting a little bit overwhelmed with everything that was happening all at once, hopefully after the meeting truly started, it would calm a little bit. He blinked, it was Miss Lightningstorm. Rabbitpaw offered the feline... his future mentor, a smile. "Hello, Miss Lightningstorm." Then before he could properly welcome her to join him and everyone else for the meeting, Miss Twilightstar started off. A new apprentice, Owlkit... and oh right, Rabbitpaw hadn't actually seen the apprentice and kit, but he remembered hearing about it certainly.

"Owlpaw! Owlpaw! Owlpaw!" Rabbitpaw hated that word though. Owl. He hated owls. But he didn't want to start bawling so he's going to pretend that he never even thought about them right now. Lichenpaw with Crowtooth? That was the cat that his mentor was talking to earlier, and the one he asked to help him clean Rabbitpaw's eternally messy fur. Oh. It felt different to when Winterpaw was assigned to Crowtooth, maybe it was because Rabbitpaw knew he was leaving his apprenticeship with him... It felt more like replacing but that was endlessly silly. Crowtooth wouldn't replace Rabbitpaw, at least... not soon. Not now. Rabbitpaw couldn't handle that right now.

On the brighter side of things, Lightningpaw was reassigned to Miss Twilightstar! That made sense, Miss Bravebird had kits recently right? So she probably wouldn't be able to train him until they get older or something? Rabbitpaw didn't know kits and queen stuff very well. Though... Lightningpaw, hadn't been happy with Rabbitpaw's news. It hurt kind of, but it made sense, they were supposed to be named together as warriors- well warrior/tunneler and warrior- but that couldn't happen anymore. But they've been through worst fights. They would repair from this! Rabbitpaw was sure.

Rabbitpaw allowed the light brushing Lichenpaw did, it wasn't like they intended to be assigned to Crowtooth and even if they were, they weren't replacing Rabbitpaw. His emotions were just all out of sorts because of mom and everything and his mind was going to the worse possible scenario which was Crowtooth leaves Rabbitpaw forever and ever and never looks back. Rabbitpaw turned to Crowtooth and offered a small purr and if the older tom allowed, Rabbitpaw would press his head against his chest, "Thank you... for everything. I hope you won't mind but... I'll be pestering you after this anyways." Crowtooth was like his dad, and he didn't want Crowtooth to think that Rabbitpaw was replacing him or anything like that.

(Oops, I got Sedgekit mixed up with another kit I have from Thunderclan. He's actually not even a moon old yet. Retconned.)

Sedgekit also notices Cottonkit talking to an older cat. Were they on friendly terms with one another? For that to be the case, the older cat looked strangely aggressive. Sedgekit tenses and watches on their conversation, padding a bit closer to Cottonkit despite himself. If anything happened, he was rushing to the queens asap.

“Why’s everyone getting reassigned?” Asked Ashkit. He noticed Sedgekit was paying more attention to Cottonkit. So he looked at what was happening. Everything seemed fine… wait no, actually Cottonkit looked anxious… Ashkit looked at the cat he was talking to. He looked… aggressive. Plus, he was covered in scars. Ashkit trodded towards Cottonkit, curious.

She wondered if she should consult with another mentor about how to do the training, but set that thought aside for now. She didn't want to appear completely incompetent. "That's a good start." She meowed, flicking her tail thoughtfully. "Tomorrow, we'll start with battle training then." She thought maybe starting with something new might be a good opportunity for Snowpaw. "Be ready bright and early!" She added with a little chipper to her voice. She did love an early start.

Typically, she liked to start her day with the morning patrol. But a morning of a combat training followed by a break and then a patrol...yes. I think that would work nicely. Not everycat had the same stamina, but she hoped that the schedule she put together for them for the next day would be both informative and good training for Snowpaw. And a good opportunity to show Snowpaw what Heathernose was like rather than just telling her. This being her first apprentice, and her being such a young warrior, she really wanted to make a good impression. Not just for Snowpaw's sake but for her clan as well. She had to get this right, or Twilightstar may never trust her to mentor another cat ever again, and she would be a failure to her clan.

Owlkit. Owlkit. Owlpaw! OWLPAW!! The mottled kitte- grown cat couldn't stop smiling. It became physically impossible and she felt a little concerned about that but that one thought was immediately shoved out of the way as she was basically skipping toward her new mentor. He was Bigcat's son right? Well she didn't know so she said nothing about that as the one flop eared molly came right up to Leechscar and this kit she didn't know. The Huntress didn't bother talking to the little kit as it was hard enough to keep herself far enough away where she wasn't at risk of squashing them. Her shorter than average tail stuck straight out behind her as she raised her head in an attempt to bop noses with her mentor if he accepted it. "Heya! 'M Owlpaw n your apprentice n 'm so so so excited! Gonna be the greatest warrior ev'r!! An' pprentice!!" She half assured half declared half squeaked. Her massive grin didnt waver as she found herself peeeeeeking over at Breezy as she cheered. Breezy!! Was proud!! Of her!! Owlpaw wasn't sure if she was supposed to sit next to her mentor or if she could scamper over to Deadmoon, so she just grinned in over excitement. She would go see Breezy after the meeting ended. But her new mentor looked suuuuuuper lame and serious so Owlpaw just held in all of her energy and Twitches. It was so hard but she did her best.

Oriental shaped ears twitched as Twilightstar began the announcements shortly after she had sat, a brow quirked in piqued curiosity. How many cats had been bringing new cats into the clan without the leader's consent? Then again... there had been a fair amount of new kits suddenly popping up in the nursery, most without family. Snowybreeze's she could easily understand. Apparently they had been left behind by his... dead... mate. The semantics of it were quite frankly confusing as all hell and fascinating, but other than him, she didn't think any of the other kits were WindClan born? Spawned? Again... semantics. Still working those out. It wasn't terrible for the clan, of course, but it could be troubling if suddenly everyone was bringing in strangers without following the right protocol. Rules were in place for a reason, and breaking rules that didn't just endanger you but your whole clan kinda made an arse out of you.

The meeting resumes, however, and Lightningstorm remains quiet, doing little more than purring in Lichenpaw's direction when the molly silently greeted her - taking note of her no longer shockingly pink claws - offering a gleeful wink of greeting at Rabbitpaw, and giggling lightly at the far too eager apprentice that decided to interrupt the kit's ceremony. Whoever got Birchpaw was going to have their paws full, that was for sure. Hopefully they would get an easy going mentor. Cats like Batglare or Leechscar might just have this one for breakfast. This thought soon left her mind as a familiar bright pelt crossed her line of sight, and a grin spread in her maw, a loud cheer escaping her as the little troublemaker who's vision she'd had to save a moon or so ago from debris received her apprentice name.

"Wooo! Yeah! Go get 'em, you thorny scallywag!" the calico yowled, laughter bubbling in the back of her throat as her tail swayed back and forth.

A pitying grimace crossed the herbalist's features as Leechscar was appointed the young apprentice's mentor, the look on his face far from friendly. He looked the type to feed you to badgers if you got too cheeky with him. For some reason, the thought of that simmered a need in the back of her mind to test out that theory. To pester the fury in playful fashion until he lived up to his rank. She wasn't certain where these feelings were coming from, but the more she thought on it, the more her head began to hurt, forcing her to shut her eyes closed momentarily until she forgot why she had closed them in the first place.

Owlpaw seemed to not be the only paw being given a stern mentor, either. The outspoken Birchpaw was given to the ever polite Dapplebreeze, and Lightningstorm couldn't help but wonder if Twilightstar was hoping for some of the molly's more demure, calm demeanor to rub on to her new apprentice. And then Lichenpaw's new mentor came as a complete surprise, a small mrowr of shock escaping her. With a cheeky grin, she turned lapis hues toward's the tom's brown. Raising one delicate paw in the air, she attempted to strike gently at the tom's forelimb amicably. A celebratory gesture.

"Congrats on your new 'prentice there, love. Watch out for this one. He's all charm, but I've seen the furies come back after their tunneling lessons with him. Work you to the bone and you won't even notice 'cause of that smooth talkin' of his," she purred, turning to Lichenpaw with a jocular gleam in her eyes as the awkward tension that had been formed ever since her memories had failed her lay to the side for a moment, allowing her a moment of genuine fraternization with a clanmate she had not too long ago looked upon as a close friend.

Dear starclan when did Crowtooth accumulate a crowd? He didnt hate it per-say or begrudge any of these cats his company but it was a bit much for the exhausted tom and frayed a bit on his already tattered energy levels. No, no, it didnt matter though, Crowtooth would be strong for these cats and not let his own day by day increasing grief show. He could have a quiet moment alone later and recuperate, before heading back to Bravebird to try and save a lost cause after.


That was the plan.


So Crowtooth just grinned at Vinepaw and Vixenpaw, rasping as genial of a "Ah lay offa Rabbitpaw ya'll. Yall see whats goin' on when it comes, fer now he just needs ta look pretty." as he could manage before Lightningstorm too joined. The medicine cat was another sharp thorn of pain he refused to let show on his face, tom tilting his head in allowance as he mused a "I must 'ave the best seats in the house given how many folks Im gettin' joinin' me right now! Feel free ta join the pile."
In the end there was Vinepaw, Vixenpaw, Lichenpaw, Rabbitpaw, Lightningstorm and him and stars did he hope more didnt come because the tom was gonna reach the end of his rope soon.




Thankfully that seemed to be the last at least, and apprentices went by smoothly. Or as smoothly as was expected and Crowtooth couldnt help the twinge of grief at his new apprentice. It wasnt Lichenpaws fault of course, never hers, but he couldnt shake the thought she was only with him now because his friend was dead and one of his kiddos, Winterpaw, was missing without a trace. Again, that wasnt the molly in front of hims fault and he even quite liked her, so shook that off with a wry "Howdy there apprentice number four." In return. Nightpaw, missing Winterpaw, missing Rabbitpaw.... wouldnt be his by the end of the meeting, at least not in that way.


"I aint gonna rush ya inta warrior if ya aint ready Lichenpaw. If ya want that we can run an assessment asap but if theres anythin' else ya wanna learn or go over again do not hesitate ta tell me. Ya aint no burden ever if ya need me fer somethin' or just need more time fer yerself, I swear."
Perhaps a bit more personal then Crowtooth might go in front of an audience however he was just too tired to think of social graces right now so who cared. He'd be embarrassingly sappy, sue him.


With that he went right back to grooming Rabbitpaw, knowing time was short and whispering a light rasp to him in response to his words, aching heart soft for this moment.
"Kiddo thin's might change but they aint changin' that much. Im gonna be botherin' ya every day an' nabbin' ya between duties fer our usual tunnel jaunts as always." Even if a certain someone might snark at him for being distracting. "Yer always gonna 'ave me ta talk ta, t-aint pesterin' at all. Yer still my kiddo, just my son rather then apprentice soon 'nough, we talked about this. Im so proud an' happy fer ya an- Shut up Lightnin'storm I aint that bad!!!"


Ok he got sidetracked there a bit but the point was made and his name was being slandered! His heart might not be fully in it but if he didnt respond thatd be a sure sign of how badly he was doing and that (along with unanswered sass) was not acceptable.

"I dont wanna hear about overworkin' from you o' all cats Missy! Ive seen yer habits, yer as bad as I am wit' yer healin' an' sendin' out all those herb patrols. Talkin' about my work habits but yer one o' the cats contributin', can the rest o' yall hear this bull, Im bein' attacked! Someone back me up!"
Back him up, yeah right like Lightningstorm just hadnt read Crowtooth dead to rights back there.

Dapplebreeze's attendance to the meeting had been more so a means to stay busy than anything else. Much as she hated to admit it, her mind was elsewhere today. Her daughter's illness was feeling ever more similar with each passing day, and even with Lightningstorm's care, she was faltering. The knowledge of how this story ended did not have the senior warrior feeling much better about the whole ordeal. She did not blame the medicine cat. StarClan knew she had been doing everything in her power to keep the queen alive. If anything, the illness had seemed to at the very least be more... manageable for some time. She had almost dared hope. But now she knew. Call it a mother's intuition.

She was going to be burying her darling bird for a second time. Forced to lose her for a third. Of the three kits the lieutenant had birthed and raised, she had lost four... soon to be five. Sometimes the proud molly couldn't help but wonder if this was some sort of cruel joke played upon her by StarClan. A way to test her resolve in some way. And she would be lying if she didn't admit to feeling it crumble. Waver. If only slightly. Stars knew she tried to be strong, but if she could change it all. If she could swap places with her darling bird and have StarClan claim her life instead... why, she would trade places in a heartbeat.

Mismatched ears perked up as she heard her name. Oh dear... she'd just missed an apprentice's ceremony, had she not? Shame on her for not paying more attention. And yet, it seemed as if she hadn't been assigned to the new paw to train. It was a reassignment. Of course it was. She was always given the poor darlings who'd had their training neglected in some way... only to have said darlings vanish mere days away from her suggesting an assessment to the leader. Would this one vanish on her as well? Would her streak of nothing but loss resume with Birchpaw as well?

Spotting her newest charge, the patched she-cat raised to her feet, rounded paws moving through the crowd with ease until she reached the yellow eyed tom. Offering a polite smile that couldn't quite reach her emotionally drained eyes, Dapplebreeze dipped her head politely, greeting the apprentice as Twilightstar took a momentary pause within the ceremonies to speak to her own young paw. This had been... Sunpaw's apprentice, if she was not mistaken. Well, before the tom had gone and gotten himself demoted, that was. She wondered just how much training she had gotten already, but decided to wait until later for that conversation. Even though the lilac molly had taken a breather, it would be impolite to make such plans before the meeting was so much as over, after all.

"Greetings, my dear. It seems I am to be your new mentor. Let's get well acquainted after the meeting, shall we?"
