Lightningstorm's last beginner's herb lesson The Art of 'Ey, Don't Put That In Your Mouth had ended in a bit of a confused state. One of the kits had vanished and the other had seemed so distraught... the entire thing sort of just crumbled apart. The medicine cat hoped this one would go a little better. It was a simple little lesson. Just one for the younger kits to learn why they couldn't go around eating everything in sight. She knew a lot of these wanted to learn herbs, but she refused to teach them a single plant to use for healing and its properties until they learned how important it was to be careful. Especially considering some of the problems there had been of late, with kits getting rotten prey stars knew where and actively eating and playing with it. If she didn't know any better, she would assume the nursery queens were not doing their jobs, but in reality, there were so many kits in WindClan right now. It must be impossible to keep an eye on all of them at all times.

"Right then. Got a lesson for you lot. Come along, loves!" the herbalist called, tail swaying as she spotted the three kits she'd been assigned to teach this time around, a playful twinkle in her eyes as she padded towards the kit corrals.

Burningkit almost ignored Lightingstorm. It pawed at a brown sparrow feather, it was just in its own world, too lost wandering in its daydreams to even notice the medicine cat.

Sneezekit was frowning, shuffling about camp. They were feeling perfectly normal, the same as ever. They were certainly not thinking about any past encounters with any random, disappearing, and apparently kit-eating adults who had very nearly gobbled Sneezekit right up. And they were most certainly not thinking about how such cats could reappear in camp at any moment to finish the job. Nope. Sneezekit was the same bright, sunny, and, most importantly, strong cat as always.

And they most certainly did not jump or otherwise show any signs of fright at Lightningstorm's call. 'Cause Sneezekit wasn't frightened in the slightest. They were too strong to be frightened (see above paragraph).

The reason why they had wanted to learn herb lessons had been developing for some time; when they had played with Blazingkit, they were so impressed by just how much the she-kit had known about healing and stuff. They thought that was really cool... and Sneezekit wanted to be really cool, too. If learning about how to do stuff with plants was the path Sneezekit would have to take to coolhood, then so be it.

But that day, they just weren't really feeling like it. Who knew, maybe Lightningstorm ate kits, too. No, that didn't make any sense... Blazingkit had said that the medicine cat was her mama, and she was alive and well. But whatever LALALALA NO MORE THINKING ABOUT THE BAD STUFF. Sneezekit was going to TAKE THIS CLASS and LIKE IT and STOP THINKING ABOUT THEIR STUPID, STUPID FEAR. RIGHT NOW.

Sneezekit padded up to Lightningstorm with a small, tentative, "Hi." Just to sell the image of a perfectly fine and normal Sneezekit, they puffed out their chest and put on a determined face.

Sneezekit grinned. 'Cause making new friends was just getting easier and easier by the day! Maybe they were getting Cooler and Better and in general better friend material! "I'm Sneezekit! And yeah, we should be friends." They punctuated their statement by bopping the mossball back at the other kit, apparently named Egretkit.

"Egretkit's a pretty Cool name," Sneezekit commented. They were learning that saying nice stuff to their playmates made them more likely to want to keep hanging out with them. Besides, they really did think it was a cool name. Cooler than Sneezekit, anyways, but they had already come to terms with that, mostly. "That's a kinda bird, right? I've never seen one before, though. Just heard of 'em." Yet another drawback of being a kit, they supposed. Never being able to leave camp meant missing out on so many Cool and Exciting experiences.

"But when I'm an apprentice and then a warrior, I'll betcha I'll see all kinds of birds," they said excitedly, continuing their internal monologue aloud, for some reason. "Yeah, I'll know about everything there is to know then!"

yippe, more friends!! stars, gracks and crowy would be happy for her! oohh, maybe sneezy could be friends with them, too. "sneezekit!" egretkit repeats, brows raising at the name. sneeze..sneeze. like when I go achoo? she wonders, blinking back to reality when the mossball is knocked her way once more. "I like that name! do you sneeze a lot?" she questions, kicking the mossball back to them.

the tabby's grin widens, letting out a tiny giggle. "thanks!! and..uhhmm..I'm not sure. I think so, though!! my mama and papa named me and my brothers after birds, I'm pretty sure!" now that she thinks about it, she's never seen an egret either. or a crow, or a grackle (which just sounds funny), or a hawk! well, maybe she can ask mama or papa to take her to see one soon. but mama looks so tired lately, so probably papa. or maybe uncle crows!

she tilts her head, listening to sneezekit's curiously, blinking a few times. her smile drops to form a small 'o' shape, but it stretches back into a grin a few seconds later. "yeah! I wanna do that too -- be an apprentice and warrior." she agrees, nodding along with sneezekit's statement. "I wanna get big and strong like my mama and papa, too!" she beams, then her eyes widen and she gasps. "hey!! sneezy! maybe we can become apprentice's together!" her, gracks, crowy, and sneezy - all becoming apprentices together. that'd be great! and her future friends, too!

Littlekit bounded towards Lightningstorm at her summoning. Her other mama was going to teach her something! How exciting! However, Littlekit got a bit distracted as she noticed Sneezekit, again. The last time she saw the kitten, they were almost eaten by a weirdo! "MAMA MAMA MAAA!!!!" Littlekit shouted at the top of her little lungs, bounding up to the calico as fast as her little legs would take her. "You missed it! Sneezekit survived almost bein' chomped on by some weirdo! He was in the nursery and then he poofed, gone! Dunno where he be now! Smelled funny, too!" the kitten exclaimed, slowing her pace down some to match up with Sneezekit.

"Sneezy you was so brave though! You're still so brave, I was so scrared fer you!" the dilute calico praised her clanmate despite the horrific scene they'd both experienced not too long ago. "One day the weirdo can't pick on us anymore though! We'll be so scary to 'em!" She tried to reassure the kitten that didn't outwardly appear shooken up.

"Nah, not really," said Sneezekit to Egretkit's sneezing inquiry. "I really don't know why I was named like that. Maybe I sneezed when I was born or something. I dunno." It was doubtless that they had come out with the Lamest name of all their siblings. Splash? Whisper? Why couldn't they have had a name like that, too? It was times like those that Sneezekit almost wished they had a parent or two to ask, Hey, what the StarClan was that for? I'm not even that Lame! Almost.

They tilted their head at Egretkit's next statement. All her siblings were named after birds? That was interesting, and also Different from Sneezekit and their siblings. Again, Splash? Whisper? Sneeze? Not exactly related. They thought it was interesting how Egretkit's parents had gone out of their way to make sure all the names matched like that. Or maybe the whole litter just so happened to be very bird-y. Sneezekit couldn't be sure.

They grinned once again as the other kit called them "Sneezy". That was one good thing about their name; just about every kit they'd met had managed to find a nickname for it. It was a very nicknameable name, apparently. Nicknames were something you did for your friends, so it was like they were just that much closer already! 'Cept Sneezekit wasn't very good at coming up with nicknames for others... They would have to come up with good ones for Blazingkit and Littlekit and all the others real soon!

They blinked with curiosity as the other kit exclaimed that she wanted to get big and strong like her parents. All the kits just loved talking about their parents, huh? Not that Sneezekit cared, of course. They just found it Interesting how Egretkit seemed to interpret them as role models or goalposts. Sneezekit, on the other paw, just looked vaguely to the distance, chasing their idea of how leaders and elite warriors acted. In other words, they didn't need parents to be great, duh.

Kicking the mossball back at Egretkit, they grinned and said, "Yeah, I hope so too. It'll be real great when me and you and all my other friends get to be apprentices. 'Cause then we can leave camp and have all sorts of fun without anyone to tell us what to do! And we'll be the ones protecting WindClan and finding prey and stuff, so we'll all be real Important!"
