he sat there for what seemed to be an eternity — or perhaps it was only his perception. the way time felt to him was ever changing, went too fast; too slow. wormbite nodded his head in acknowledgement to beastflame, waiting for the final member of their patrol to appear but she never showed. a frown flickered across his lips, brief before dispersing into blankness. "let uss head off, " he said after a while it became clear redmire would not be joining them. he pushed himself up into a standing position and started to head off into the territory.

stars, walking through unfamiliar territory while not only being blind but with two impaired legs was irritating to say the least. scarred paws slid forward before taking a proper step, doing his best to avoid obstacles but that didn't stop the warrior from every so often slamming his shoulder into a tree and then having to hold back a pained yelp.

luckily, as they neared the border the trees started to become more spread out. the foliage was less troublesome. wormbite halted as the scent of stranger reached its strongest point; they were here. his nose crinkled in mild distaste, tail flickering back and forth. he didn't like this place. it unnerved him. at least the clans had a code, perhaps not many truly listened but at least it was there. he shook his head lightly before picking a direction and heading alongside the crack.

at least nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. his large & slightly curled ears swiveled to the sounds around him, overly aware of the absence of birdsong. it seemed to be so sparse throughout the mountains. though, he did not have to risk the wrath of crows. they did not know his face here.

hopefully. he was momentarily dragged out of his thoughts at the scent of a mouse, something he hadn't noticed beforepaw. he dropped swiftly into a hunter's crouch, nose twitching as he started to follow the trail. it didn't take long for the warrior to find the mice, whiskers quivering as they sensed vibrations. a beat. he launched himself forward, paws slamming down and with a dying squeak wormbite delivered a swift killing bite. extra prey was always nice.

eventually once he was finished he headed back to the original place they had separated. his ears perked up at the sound of beastflame's pawsteps which was soon followed by his voice. "ssame here, " he replied - voice slightly muffled by the mouse. with a small nod, the black tom started to limp back to camp.

There were oh so many things currently going wrong - like Wisteriawren and guilt weighing on her mind much more than she would've liked - so in true Dusklion fashion she was shoving all of that down in favor of physical exercise. She had woken early and trotted from camp without bothering saying a word to anyone. Part of her knew it was impractical to patrol the border so much, but she couldn't help it; they knew nothing about this group and the deputy was worried that... well, that... she just wanted to know any cats that were near their Clan.

The one healer she had met seemed friendly enough. Standing at the border the dark tabby gazed across into the territory. Who were they? How long had they been here? ...What were they like? Her loyalty and heart would never leave the sandy beaches of RiverClan, but her curiosity of what else lay out here had only grown with their settling in the mountains. "Who are you...?" she murmured to herself, the breeze ruffling her fur slightly.

Brokenstream padded forward, ears alert for any sounds of the group of cats known to be at the other side of the border. They hadn't caused any trouble yet, but he didn't relish the fact that it was just him alone with his fresh out of kithood apprentice. If things went south, it could end badly. They would just have to make this quick. "Come on, Catfishpaw. Make sure you keep up." He meowed over his shoulder, slowing his pace to make sure that he wouldn't get too far ahead of her. This would be her first patrol, he was pretty sure. It must be exciting for her. However, the warrior wanted to make sure he stressed the importance of safety. Especially since there wasn't exactly much undergrowth to hide them.

"We mark along these lines, not over them, okay?" Brokenstream explained, taking this opportunity to mark one of the few bushes nearby. "And we don't cross it. Even if it's not a Clan, we need to respect their boundaries. They haven't caused any trouble for us and we shouldn't cause any for them." With that, he waited for Catfishpaw to mark a few spots herself while he continued to pad along the border, sniffing to see if the scents were recent.

Along the border there are signs of a struggle. Tufts of black and reddish-orange fur are strewn about, as well as droplets of scarlet blood. Dusklion's scent hangs thick on the surrounding areas as well, and there seems to be kicked up debris all over. The scent trail leads towards the edge of the cliff and then vanishes seemingly without a trace. . .

Antlerbranch stood there in disbelief as Dusklion's scent hung in the air, ground dotted with blood. Oh no, no no no no. The brown tom stood there, not knowing what to do. What if Dusklion was-

No. She couldn't be.

Antlerbranch took a couple of steps forward, examining the area. "Blood, Her fur, Her scent, Debries, and... A cliff." What the hell happened here?

She was just on a stroll today and that was all, just to clear her mind from the mess that it was currently. Applebees was still after all torn up about the clan being exiled and still depressed about her dead mate. Her going on hunting or herb patrols only did so much to keep her distracted. The cross-eyed molly decided that checking out the border was a good spot to take a walk on. One of the things she didn't plan on encountering was what she could only guess was the remains of some sort of tussle. "Oh my.." she mumbled as she took a further look at the scrapes of fur lying about in a mess. She could also catch a scent of Dusklion and a trail going off in the distance towards the cliffside, this did not bode well for anyone. At first, she hadn't realized that Antlerbranch had shown up too, after all her focus was on the mess in front of them. "There is no telling exactly what happened h're but Fadin'tar needs to be informed about this" she turned to look the other warrior in the eyes.

Seabreeze wasted no time loitering and headed straight for the border, though he kept his eyes and nose out for anything suspicious on the way there. Nothing though, caught his attention as the trio of felines arrived to the border. Seabreeze turned to the warriors accompanying him, "Fan out, not too far, stay within eyesight. Call out if you find anything of note even if you aren't sure, and if there's any signs of the other group call us over." He was sure that these were things that the others could know already, intuitively, but also you never know with Riverclan. Though Sunsetgleam seemed to be a cat with a good head on their shoulders. Russethowl though... Seabreeze didn't trust him. For one, he was Thunderclan of all clans before, and secondly he was a clan hopper. Nothing of note has happened to really be worth trusting him over. Well besides- Doesn't matter Seabreeze! The tom did all but physically shake his head to clear the thoughts. Dusklion.

The lionheart set out immediately, nose up slightly as he tried to catch any scents on the air but there was nothing immediately out of sorts, all the usually border markers and other clan group scents which could be more than expected given the border... Though he couldn't help but think about the cats that were out for Dusklion as that number was concerningly high. Given... Seabreeze didn't want to turn his suspicions on his own clan mates any sooner than he could help it. Until proven otherwise it was an external threat. He moved his search a few tail lengths away, searching for any scents he recognized. Then also looking for signs of struggle... just in case.

They stopped fidgeting with their paws and dipped their head as soon as the russet warrior arrived. In all honesty, Sunsetgleam has never tried to go near the border. Though..they haven’t heard anything bad about the nearby group or anything like that and they can’t seem to find a reason on why the group would try to randomly cause chaos all of a sudden. Unless they also had some cats that like to bring trouble. That could be possible. But if that’s the case, Dusklion could’ve possibly gotten injured. And that’s even worst than simply going missing. Oh, Seabreeze! He’s here now “right” they followed near the lionheart.

They kept their eyes out for any signs of the deputy on the way there; any scraps of fur or signs of a trail that may give a hint to Dusklion’s disappearance. But they didn’t spot anything, so it was all left to the border for them to find anything. A giant split in the ground. There’s not a lot of vegetation to cover it up so they had some hope that it’ll make clue-searching slightly easier.

They split apart from the group, closely eyeing along the border’s split. Nothing there… So Dusklion probably didn’t fall in there. At least she didn’t fall where they were searching. Dusklion Dusklion Dusklion. Where could she have gone..? They scanned the area, but there wasn’t any trace of the deputy. Not even any hints of scent lying around. Odd. There wasn’t any signs of a border fight around here either. It all seems pretty peaceful. There wasn’t any cats on the other side of the border yet. Urgh, if Dusklion wasn’t anywhere near there then where else could she have been? She just didn’t seem like the type to just randomly get lost. Or at least that easily; so they knew something must’ve happened. They gave a small glance at their patrolmates for a second, silently wishing that at least one of them found some sort of trace
