quillpaw feels as though he's fallen behind. which, he hasn't, technically. he knows how to hunt, he knows stealth and he's..fine at those. not amazing, but not horrible - just fine. and usually, he wouldn't care. he has nobody to impress but himself, not his parents (stars forbid he do anything just to make them proud or happy). not even his grandmother ..although he also really, really doesn't want her to think of the disappointment grandchild. he has just himself. but there's a weird feeling in his chest that's lingered ever since sleepypaw became sleepysunrise.

he's happy for her! he even smiled. of course, it's only natural. that's his sister, after all, he'd be happy if any of his siblings became warriors. the problem is..this feeling. he's figured out that it's envy. she's not that much older than him, yet has definitely accomplished more (obviously, she's a warrior now) than some warriors. and t think that they've never actually talked before. life is very strange. anyway! there's a solution to the feeling of inadequacy.

so, with that in mind – the lithe tom is approaching the warrior's den, poking his head inside. it's still early dawn, and between all of the sleeping forms of warriors, he's not too sure if sleepysunrise is in the hollowed trunk at all. he blinks, scanning the den briefly before his eyes narrow. "sleepysunrise!" he calls, a sharp edge to his voice as usual. not a care in the world if he wakes some unlucky warrior up. too bad so sad.

"if you're in here, come here." it's originally meant to sound like a request, but in all honesty, it sounds like more of an order than anything else. with that, quillpaw steps back, simply peering inside.

Sleepysunrise hadn’t quite gotten used to her new den just yet, let alone her new nest; she often hovered around, keeping to the shadows of the clan until late into the night early in the morning rather than enter the crowded den of warriors, all far too close for comfort. Her vibrant eyes watched from her shadowed cloak as the clan went about their day, keeping guard, and senses alert for trouble.

Although today’s ‘trouble’ had a rather different form; the form of seeking knowledge, and a sharp tongue. She heard her name called by her brother, ordering her to come and heed his call. Sleepysunrise would’ve ignored under any normal circumstances, except for the fact that this was her younger brother calling – those who could order her around were those of power, Miss Grandmama and mama. No one else. But a sibling’s call she would always heed and as such the dull-faced feline approached her sibling, watching him with an intense eye.

“Don’t.. order.”
She said softly, something she picked up in the nursery.
“You’re okay?”
She asked, wondering what he needed as her head tilted sideways.

much to quillpaw's pleasure, it's only a few moments before sleepysunrise approaches. he scrunches his nose, brows furrowing for just a split second before his expression returns to its normal annoyed looking one. "I did not order you, I merely called." he says with a shrug, before his eyes narrow slightly. "...but, I will be more mindful in the future, I suppose." he grunts, voice a touch more quiet, followed by a nod.

he raises a brow at her question. "perfectly fine. I just need your..help," the word tastes foreign on his tongue. he dislikes it. eugh. "-- with training. seeing as you were at the raid..I figured you could teach me how to fight." there's a short pause, where he silently wonders if that sounded like an order or not. "if you don't mind." he adds on, a bit begrudgingly.
