Halfpaw walked restlessly in the clearing, making wide rounds as if he were patrolling the clan walls himself. Damn Starclan, why did things have to be so hard?
He had made a long and dangerous travel all on his own just to see his real, former home without the aid of his parents. And yet he was just a little apprentice looked on upon everyone who passed by.

The outsider...
The son of the traitors who chose to abandon Thunderclan..
...He doesn't deserve to be here...
He will steal our resources while growing up, then come back to his coward parents and leave us...
He has no sense of loyalty...
He's a menace...

So many voices screamed in his head. Stop you! It isn'true!
He shook his head this side and the other, squinting his eyes in hope that all the words and the faces would disappear from his head.

He thought Starclan would still watch over him!
This is not true. The star warriors had conducted him here. They had played with his life, and now he was paying for it. He thought his head might explode any time.

He felt tormented.

...Maybe, his place wasn't here?
Maybe... his loyalty didn't count. For anyone. For the stars even, maybe.

With his ears dangling sadly from his skull, he headed to the apprentices' den. Another mockery to the fact that despite his age, he hadn't been made a warrior yet. They want to test him before, he was sure of that.
But now, he was exhausted. He had no energy.

The reality was as clear as ice in a cold day: the warriors, at least the older ones, didn't want to teach him. They avoided him, silently refusing their tasks and making away with it.

The pouting tom was heading inside, not to cool himself from the strong greenleaf sun, but to hide himself and his face from the rest of the clan.

He still felt an outsider after 7 moons spent here.

Sunnystreak

Sunnystreak looked up from where he and his sister were sharing tongues when he noticed Halfpaw's distressed pacing. He watched as the young cat slipped into the apprentice's den, and frowned. He could only imagine how he felt and what he was going through. "One sec." He told Strawberryfur, touching his nose to her's before bounding after Halfpaw.

As he approached, he slowed down. He didn't want to startle him. "Halfpaw?" He called into the den. "Are you okay?" He immediately regretted the question, it was stupid. How could he be okay? It was obvious that he wasn't. He groaned at his own stupidity. "I mean...do you wanna talk about it?" He tried again. This whole...cheering others up thing was usually Strawberryfur's forté. But he felt like he had to try. Even though he'd never experienced something like Halfpaw has, he did know what it felt like to feel like you constantly have to prove yourself. And the frustration and despair that comes with that burden.

Alpinepaw stood there for a few seconds before ducking and rolled onto her side. She then quickly got up. Alpinepaw did the best she could.

Yuuuupp!! The time had come! Poppypaw was much bigger now, and she needed to go look for Springy... Somewhere. Bumblystar said she was dead - but that meant her Pap was probably dead too and she couldn't have that!! Poppypaw had to go look for her, to be sure. And one way to go about that was climbing the trees, because... Birds liked trees. Now the only issue; she couldn't climb very well. The brittle apprentice had tried once really and she got up !! But then fell down reeeeaaalllll fast and someone had to catch her. So! She decided to ask bumblystar for help -- she ought to know how to do this stuff!
"Bumblystar! Bumblystar!!"
The apprentice called, tripping as she approached the leader.
"Bumblystar !!! Poppy had a question. Well. Two questions. Do you like being called Bumblystar? Acorn called you Bumblystar! But no one else does! But! But !! Bumblystar -- or Bum..Bumblestar? I had another question! Can Bumbly teach Poppy how to climb? Pleasseeee? Preettyyyyy?? You see, you see! I climbed once, a little, alone! But then I fell! And I get aaaallll whoozy sometimes, you know, I'm always falling about and I don't know if that'll make climbing more difficult nope, so I'm asking you!"

She knew how to hunt now. BUT, she also required the knowledge on how to be cool like Pap! Like, super cool like Pap! So she could find him! That's why Poppypaw was on the lookout today, scanning the clearing for a victim -- the victim whom would beeeeee Sprucey!! He was always grumpy looking, so he had to be good at the fighting business. That's why, with her wide stance and wobbles, Poppypaw snuck closer to the young warrior with the intention of spooking him, boo!!
"Sprucey !! Can you teach Poppy how to be cool like Pap? So Poppy can fight and find Pap? Pretty pretty pleaseeee?"

cliffjumper walked out of the warriors den and saw the kit playing trying to catch the little yellow butterfly that flutterd around the paws of the kit the orange warrior noticed that its wing was torn explaining why it was flying the way it was the warrior smiled watching the kit take down the butterfly after a few more hits cliff walked over dispute his large size his steps were quiet "Wow looks like we got a great hunter on our paws" complimenting the kits hunting skill

Sometime after the meeting, Wolfhive made his way over to the camp entrance. With two new apprentices under his wing he wanted to start their training.

How silly! Wolfhive looked at Antpaw with amusement glittering in his eyes. "I didn't take you as someone nervous!" This was said lightly, as Wolfhive appreciated Antpaw's alarm. "The standard has always been to assign apprentices to hunting patrols, unless their mentor has taken them out on their own volition. I do prefer using training specific patrols as I'd rather you focus on learning than worrying about the amount of prey you bring back." Antpaw had been particularly prickly today though, so Wolfhive had done the approach he thought wiser. Training specific patrols were a newer thing, something Wolfhive had started once he was a little more established as Bumba's Head Hornet.

"Practice makes perfect, and everyone has their own challenges they face in training. It took me a couple moons before I caught my first mouse, and that wasn't for a lack of trying on my part! Always been more affluent with fighting." A small shrug, nonchalant. Continuing to work on it over the moons got him on track. Wolfhive didn't consider himself much of a hunter, prefering battle, but realistically he could probably outhunt half the Clan in his sleep. "If the thought of possibly coming back empty pawed worries you, the patrol tomorrow can be a training focused one. There's no shame in either, but I'd rather you play the route you think would be most beneficial to you. You may have a mentor, but at the end of the day? Your training progress is on you." Sunflowerswirl could show to be a great mentor, or she could be a bust like many others, but the point was Antpaw needed to spearhead his own way. Relying on one cat for everything may not be feasible.

"The main difference between the patrols is going to be that in training, there isn't an expectation of you catching something.. The point is to learn the technique and work on mastering it. You'll be taught the crouch and how to stalk, and you might practice on forest debris to get your pounce and distance right. Depending on how you do, you may or may not pursue actual prey. On a hunting patrol, especially your first time, it'd be learning the form and trying it on live prey. Some cats catch on quick and are successful, others like me aren't as fortunate. Usually there isn't as much focus on practicing it first, so you'll spend more time stalking and pursuing prey."

"Nervous? I'm not worried about coming back empty-pawed," Antpaw blusters, trying to appear more confident than he actually was. He ignores that nagging feeling in the back of this mind starting to creep up on him- he wouldn't regret making this comment later, would he? No, he tells himself. No, he wouldn't regret it. He was his father's son, and there was no way he was a bad hunter. He was an asset to the Clan. Probably. Maybe?

"I was just wondering if the rules allow this, that's all. I'll be on the patrol, and I'll do great, even without any training, just you watch."
