Re: ThunderClan Stormcrest
- Wolfpaw -
- He/Him - 6 Moons - ThunderClan Apprentice -
- A large dark brown tabby tom with green eyes and a missing hind leg - Wolfpaw's steady gaze lay on Bumblestar as the leader went through announcements, and soon she reached the problem.
Springlight was dead.
Their only medicine cat.
Dead.
Wolfpaw's jaw dropped. How?? An owl?? Okay now Wolfpaw really didn't like owls. He looked over to Mudhound, hoping for some comfort. But they were called to the leaders den, and he didn't even have time to speak. The young tom watched as Mudhound limped away, tears streaming down Wolfpaw's eyes. How did ThunderClan end up like this? Destroyed. Ruined. Just like him. "...yeah," he whispered to himself before picking himself up and limping back to the apprentice den.

Re: ThunderClan Stormcrest
ACORNTUFT
// TC // Warrior // She/Her // 24 Moons //
// Aphrodite Giant + Khao Manee //
A cat had died. Acorntuft knew that. Springlight had fallen to a tragic death. A sob escaped Acorn’s throat when her leader shared the bloody news. She fell to her paws and whispered comfort to herself, because she knew no other cat was going to.
Before the meeting had been called, the large she-cat had been walking around the clearing, shaking off sleep. She’d taken a nap in the sun, trying to catch up on all of the missed rest that had fallen victim to nightmares. Bumblestar’s voice had summoned her, and Acorntuft had made her way to the Stormcrest, thinking something cool would happen, like a new apprentice or a new warrior.
She had been so wrong.
The horrible death of the ThunderClan medicine cat. That was not cool. Acorntuft hated death. It made her feel sick to the bottom of her stomach. It made her want to shut the world out, and get rid of all the noise that plagued her.
When Bumblestar broke the news to Acorntuft, and her Clanmates, Acorntuft wanted to go hide in a corner and throw up. Springlight had met a bloody end, by owl talons. What a way to go.
Acorn stood from her spot, shakily grasping onto her breath, and made her way to the warriors’ den slowly, her eyes dull with shock. Who would heal her wounds? Who would help her recover from battles? Who would help her find her place, after such a terrible time as an apprentice? Springlight had done most of that, and more. Acorn stood outside of the warriors’ den, and then turned aside. She found a spot in a patch of weeds, and lay down to close her eyes and… who knew.
She just wanted to be alone.

Re: ThunderClan Stormcrest
Poppypaw had left the meeting, panicked and broken by the news of Springlight's disappearance (though remaining in camp). Twistedkit, however, finally poked her little head out of the nursery, watching the blurry shape atop the stone with curiosity. Springlight, one of their medics? Gone, taken by an owl. A great creature of much wisdom and strength, downed to take the cat up high... What was it like to fly? The feeling of her clanmates being brought up so high sat unwell with her, and yet she wondered.

Re: ThunderClan Stormcrest
Sunpaw
I'm chasing dreams since I left the womb
+ she/her + no purrks
Sunpaw barely heard the big leader call for the end of the meeting, her attention on her sobbing. She was distraught at the news of her older sibling dead, where was ma and pa. Where even was Swan at the moment, she understood elk's reason for not being here. Sunpaw at this point didn't care who but all she wanted was someone to lend a shoulder for her to cry on. Just like that, it seemed her thoughts were getting read like an open book because she felt a tail on her back. She raised her head from her tail face wet with her tears and snot to see it was her best friend. "Sheee's gooooone" came out a whine as she tried to smear his face into the others shoulder, tears still coming out. What made this worse was that there was no body for them to physically mourn over or to bury in respect. No, that mean, dirty owl had taken her big sis's body as food most likely and that sounded degrading.
Now she was going to have to be strong and inform ma about big sis if she ever found out where ma went. Irrationally she had feared for a moment that her ma had vanished too, taken by the same owl that got big sis. Sunpaw almost smacked herself, no way is that possible, what are the chances of that? "We got nothin' to mourn over because of that stuupid owl!" She brought her face up to try and wipe her tears away as she looked at rayray. "Ma-maybe we can u-use flowers as a memorial for her" she hiccupped. Her crying may have calmed down but she still let out a few sobs once in a while. The ginger paw was about to say something else to the other paw but someone else had approached. She blinked blurry amber eyes as she got a clear view of a brown cat standing in front of her and rayray. What was even more confusing was that they only said one word and it was just her name. "Y-yes?" wait, was this cat her mentor or something, she forgot she had gotten reassigned to a new mentor for the moment.

Ravenpaw-She/Her
5 Moons

————————
Ravenpaw silently let Sunpaw sob into her fur.
Stupid owl.
Yes, Ravenpaw definitely agreed with that.
Because if that owl, ThunderClan lacked a medicine cat, and Sunpaw was grieving.
“They’ll get rid of the owl.” Ravenpaw stated “I’m sure that’s what Bumblestar is talking to those cats about now. She’ll make sure it dies.”
Then Sunpaw seemed to want to use flowers as a memorial.
That made sense.
Ravenpaw nodded “Flowers will work.” She said “Springlight would probably like that.”
She wouldn’t know, she didn’t know her, but anything to help her friend.
Then a warrior came up, and Ravenpaw went quiet again.
Not because of anything specific, just her usual demeanor.

Hollowkit
~<>~
3 moons || he/him || ThunderClan kit || Silk Spinner
brown, masked classic tabby w/ low white; titanite eyes
The new orders that no cat was to leave camp alone really didn't apply to Hollowkit, he wasn't allowed to leave camp anyway. With a yawn as the meeting was dismissed, the brown tabby got to his paws and went back to the nursery to take a nap...

Re: ThunderClan Stormcrest
SILENTWING
The lithe gray molly made her way over to the stormcrest as a clearly irritated Bumblestar called for the clan to gather. Uneasiness settled in her stomach as the leader began to reassign apprentices. A-
Springlight was dead?
Huh? Silentwing sat there in shock as her leader explained what they had found. "S-She's dead?" the molly whispered to herself. Just as quickly as Bumblestar called the meeting, it ended. The gray warrior still was proccessing what happened. Their only medicine cat was dead to an owl. And so young, too. She shook her head before getting up and stalking back to the warriors den.

Re: ThunderClan Stormcrest
| Sprucejumper |
11 Moons - ThunderClan Warrior
Kitty Softpaws - Active | Ultimate Predator - Inactive | Agatha Kitty - Active
Normally, the former kittypet wasn't very perceptive of things. It wasn't that he didn't have a sharp eye or mind. He had both in spades. It was more a matter of not caring half the time. Not being able to be bothered. Relationships were a hassle to maintain. He already knew that if something ever happened to The Boulder, it would destroy him. Just like being tossed like day old rubbish by his family had devastated him. This was why he stayed away. Why he refused to talk. Why he didn't put in the energy to care. Because in the end, it was always worse if you did than if you simply focused on survival and let life carry on.
Unfortunately for Sprucejumper, he was attentive right now. He had to be. He had to do right by his mentor and become an equally good one. Well... perhaps that was a lofty goal that was out of his reach. But at least a moderately better one than his first one? That one he'd never even met, so as of so far, he was already doing loads better than them. Good job to him he supposed.
Except the closer he got to the paw, the more he realized... she was crying. No. No no. Crying was an understatement. This cat was a veritable Snotzilla at this point, wailing to the heavens some memorial and some owl and-
Oh...
Snotzilla here must have been close to herb cat. Well... that was unfortunate for certain. It definitely took away any potential to go out training right now, in any case. Sprucejumper might be many a thing. Aloof. Antisocial. A misunderstood genius of impeccable caliber. But a monster? No. He left that to the star worshipers. They did monstrous things among themselves enough without him adding more kindling to the fire. Besides... a part of him remembered. That devastating feeling of having lost someone dear. Of suddenly realizing that the family you had just promised to never let go of was gone. That you will never see them again.
The tom blinked at the apprentice's question, his countenance unchanging as he studied her distraught face. Emerald eyes closing momentarily, the tom shook his head before turning his attention to the silent companion besides her. Another apprentice. A bit younger than the average paw, but he wasn't one to talk, having been apprenticed at the age of three moons. Her silence was welcomed, her intent clear as she let his new charge make a mess of her fur.
She was a friend. Not his, heavens forbid. But Snotzilla's. The silent sentinel to let her crumble for a moment before life went on again. Sprucejumper hadn't had any such thing in his own youth when he'd lost it all, but he assumed it would have been welcomed at the time. Perhaps he would have stayed blissfully unaware of just how cruel the world could be. Offering Sentinel a nod of gratitude for her standing by the golden furred molly, he shifted his focus, deadpanned emerald orbs upon the paw's vibrant amber. Lifting a dark paw, he ventured to place it on her shoulder in his best attempt at a consoling motion. This was not his forte, and he was out of his depth here, but damn it no one would say he hadn't tried, alright?
"Commiseration."
It was a single word. He had no more to give. What he could give her was time. To mourn. To grieve. To make peace with her new reality. Training could resume when she'd collected the pieces of her heart back together again.

Re: ThunderClan Stormcrest
Mallowpaw
91/100
Mallowpaw had been expecting Bumblestar to immediately tell them the story behind the specks of blood staining her paw, but she started with reassignments. She remembered the meeting where the raid on RiverClan had been announced; there had been no pleasantries that time. Hopefully that meant the news wasn't as grave as she feared.
Wolfhive was assigned two new apprentices; Whitepaw and Alpinepaw. A couple of moons ago, she would have been jealous of having her mentor's attention split between the apprentices, but now she just hoped Wolfhive would still have the time for her on top of them and his Hornet duties. Mallowpaw wondered how Whitepaw and Alpinepaw felt about the reassignment; did they feel the crushing relief she had? The relief that someone was there to help them with their training, that they were finally going to make progress. Not that it had helped her much; she was still behind on training. She had reached the point of no return now; she was going to become a warrior late no matter what happened. She just had to work hard to ensure she didn't receive her name too late.
Bumblestar's next announcement brung her out of her thoughts. Springlight is dead.
Shock flitted through Mallowpaw's body. She hadn't known the calico well, but she had been nice. Mallowpaw had attended a couple of her events; she had taught her the herbs she knew. And like her mentor, Springlight had been healing for longer than she'd been alive. For so long it had been the two of them, but now Drizzlecloud had stepped down and Springlight was gone. And ThunderClan had no medicine cats. Mallowpaw remembered RiverClan's instability, high ranks changing moon to moon. Was this how this how it started? Was this the beginning of the end?
But this was what she had been hoping for, wasn't it? A dead cat. She just hadn't considered who it might be.
Bumblestar continued on, telling them that Springlight had been taken away by an owl, the only evidence of her passing blood, feathers and shredded herbs. That was where the flecks of crimson on the leader's paw had come from. Mallowpaw found herself scanning the crowd until her gaze landed on a tabby apprentice. She had been close with Springlight. Mallowpaw remembered her innocence; was this the event that would finally make her lose it? A shame, but the day was always going to come. She was lucky she had managed to remain sheltered for so long; Mallowpaw hadn't been that fortunate. Her eyes had been opened to the harshness of the world early in her apprenticeship.
Mallowpaw refocused her attention on Bumblestar as she told them that she, along with Spiderthroat and the Hornets, would fill the role until a replacement was found. Why not Drizzlecloud? She was a former medicine cat, surely she could step in. Maybe her retirement hadn't just been a personal choice; maybe she was unfit to be a medicine cat. Curiosity sparked in her chest, but Mallowpaw knew she wouldn't learn the answer. It wasn't like she could just ask Drizzlecloud; if Bumblestar couldn't tell them why it was unlikely the former medicine cat would share the reason with her, and she would respect her privacy.
Bumblestar went on to tell them that no-one was allowed out of camp by themselves. That didn't affect her; she couldn't leave without a warrior accompanying her anyway. The meeting was dismissed, and Mallowpaw watched Spiderthroat and the Hornets make their way towards Bumblestar's den before she stood up and headed to the apprentices' den.
