Singing birds under the Willow tree

Willowkit was so energetic today. None of the other kits wanted to play with her. She slid out of the nursery and into the clearing. Most of the warriors were on patrols. And the 'paws were training! What was there to do?

Cloudsong

Cloudsong spotted Willowkit in front of the nursery and stared at her. He narrowed his eyes and licked his chest fur. Cloudsong had hoped that Willowkit wouldnt bound over to him asking to play. He thought that she was quite annoying. But, Cloudsong was grumpy all the time so maybe it was just him.. Cloudsong closed his eyes from where he sat in front of the elder den. Peace and quiet..

Willowkit's ears perked, noticing an elder who had come into the clearing. Would they like to play with her? She was going to find out. Willowkit padded over to the elder and dipped her head. Do you want to play? Or maybe explore? It would be so fun! The words spilled out of her mouth, her voice high and squeaky. The older cat was sure to say yes. Isn't that what elders did all day? Sleep and play with kits? Willowkit held back a purr. This was going to be funnnnnn!

Cloudsong opened his eyes and looked down at the kit. He narrowed his eyes and crouched down so he could see her more clearly. Cloudsong studied her with his good eye (half blind), then straightened. No. He meowed sharply and began to groom himself.

Willowkit's tail drooped, her green gaze searching his face to see if he was joking. It didn't seem like it was. Why didn't he want to play with her? Was he mad at her? Pleeeeease? She mewed, looking up at him with sad, green eyes.

Cloudsong

Cloudsong twitched his tail and licked his chest fur nervously. After a while of thinking, he meowed, Fine. But I'm not happy about it!

Willowkit squealed with excitment. What do you want to play? She asked happily. We can play mossball, hide and seek... She continued, her list everlasting. Waiting for an answer, her tail flicked rapidly. He wanted to play with her after all!

Cloudsong twitched his tail. He licked his chest fur again. Cloudsong looked down at Willowkit and meowed, Uh.. what do you want to play? In his head, Cloudsong went through his list of escape options.

Why was he playing hard to get on her? Do you want to play mossball? Willowkit asked, hoping he'd say yes. She gazed up at the larger cat and smiled.
