The Ash comes back at Dusk

Duskfur caught a scent of squirrel scurrying closer. She pressed her belly against the ground, motioning for Ashfoot to do the same.

Ashfoot nodded briskly and moved her belly to the ground. The pain in her leg was getting worse but she didnt care. Ashfoot grimaced and hoped Duskfur couldnt notice it.

Duskfur didn't notice the pain on Ashfoot's face, and she kept her head low to the ground. When the squirrel comes closer, She whispered, You can pounce on it. She nodded.

Ashfoot nodded and slowly put one paw in front of the other. She lashed her tail and crouched lower, preparing to pounce.

(Spins the wheel) Aw, she misses.

Ashfoot pounced but her useless leg made her change direction and land heavily a fox length away from the squirrel. The squirrel ran off. Ashfoot stood and winced as the pain got worse, adding on to the ache from the fall. Its impossible. She spat and stalked off, ears flattened and tail lashing.

Duskfur's heart ached for Ashfoot, and didn't want her to lose hope. That's okay! She mewed. We can just find another one! Duskfur purred and bounced beside her clanmate. It was going to be alright! @Bluest+r~

Ashfoot narrowed her eyes. Say it. I know that you think I am useless and cant do anything. And I know that. I cant even catch the oldest squirrel in the forest. She spat and turned around to face Duskfur. Ashfoot sighed. Sometimes I wonder if Windclan wouldnt change when I am gone. She meowed sadly and hung her head.

Huh? Duskfur asked, clearly confused at why the other cat had snapped at her. I wasn't going to say that. A sob caught in her throat. Is that what other cats thought of her? What if her kits would think the same thing? D-do you w-anna t-try again? She mewed, her words barely a whisper.

Ashfoot flattened her ears. No. She meowed. I should find a different way i could be more useful. Ashfoot padded toward the camp and sighed. She knew she shouldve been more considerate to Duskfur but she hated how Windclan seems to think shes useless. Ashfoot lashed her tail. If no cat would accept her, she'll make them.

Ashfoot sighed. Whats the point? She meowed quietly. I cant catch anything with this fox dung of a leg. Ashfoot turned to stare at Duskfur. Whats it like? With all your legs working? She asked sadly.
