A smirk slipped easily across his lips with Flytail’s confirmation of the challenge. Perhaps it was childish but that made it just the more exciting. An opportunity to shed his skin and loosen his muscles, perhaps defeat his brother in the process.

He circled the base of the closest tree once, then twice. ”May the best brother win”, he snarled playfully before unsheathing his claws and leaping into the tough trunk. Climbing and scratching his way in the darkness to the lowest hanging branch where he waited for Flytail to follow.

This should be fun.

Flytail followed him quickly, this was going to be difficult. It meant risks needed to be taken, whether that was wise or not he wasn’t sure.
”That all you got?” He mumbled out playfully, before readying himself for another leap upwards.

Claws quickly scrabbling to find a solid hold on the next branch. They sank in a lifted his towering frame upwards again. He had to win this, he couldn’t be beaten by his know-it-all brother. Already he could feel the height beneath him, it made his stomach a little uneasy but nothing he couldn’t manage by just pushing on through it.

Flytail chased after his brother climbing up the tree quickly his brothers teasing had ripped him up and his pure determination was set on winning. He noticed his brothers unease and laughed “Scared of heights now are you?!Im going to win”he called out as he continued climbing

His eyes glinted with a fight, he had to beat his brother. Leave no room for him to win. He sprung upwards again, hauling his body upwards with jagged black claws. ”You! Win? Don’t be ridiculous”, Owlthroat snorted out a laugh as he gained a place on the next branch. It didn’t feel quite as strong this time.

They were becoming thinner but it would be manageable if he was just careful about where he placed his paws. Breath catching in his throat as he looked down.

Flytail scowled as his brother laughed if there was one thing he hated more than anything it would be losing especially to his cocky brother.He looked straight up the branches were thinking while that did make it harder for him to grip he was smaller in stature compared to Owlthroat he was easily able to climb and weave the branches.He looked down at his brother and saw the hesitation “Is someone scared?” he asked laughing

This was starting to infuriate him, ”Scared? You’ve got to be joking.” He attempted upwards going after the next few branches. His claws struggling and the branches themselves heaving and creaking underneath him. Managing a few more.

SNAP.

Owlthroat felt the branch underneath him give out and he propelled himself forward. Just about catching the one just above, dangling. Straining and grunting trying to pull himself back up. Adrenaline racing thoroughly through his blood.

Refusing to ask for help.

Flytail climbed higher grunting with effort he felt the wind and shuddered. He turned back to see and hear the snap of a limb and the dangling of his brother. He let out a mrrow of laughter though his brother could fall and badly injure himself he was too stubborn to ask for help..now of course Flytail knew this but he was going to have his fun first.”Need help there or are ya just hanging around?” he asked while laughing

Dear Starclan he was stubborn, risk the fall or ask for help. Despite the fact he could injure himself. His brother’s rolling laughter made him all the more infuriated. ”No. I’m fine.” Owlthroat sounded bluntly.

Clearly wriggling and writhing trying to lift his body back up to somewhere stable. His grip loosened and he almost fell again. Shooting fear through his body.

”F..Fine get me up! The tom yowled now realising his predicament. He didn’t think he should climb any higher today and the embarrassment hit him. This had meant he lost, to Flytail of all cats. Knowing that his brother would likely never let his triumphant win go.

Ugh.

Flytail, watching his brother's struggle with a mixture of amusement and concern, finally relented. “Alright, alright,” he said, his voice carrying a mix of mockery and genuine sympathy. “I’ll help you up, but only because I can’t stand to see you make a fool of yourself any longer.”

He moved closer, carefully positioning himself to support Owlthroat. “Just hold still, and for Starclan’s sake, don’t make me regret this. If you slip again, I’m leaving you here to contemplate your stubbornness.”

As he helped his brother regain his footing, Flytail couldn’t resist adding, “And don’t think this means I’m not going to bring this up every chance I get. You were one pawstep away from becoming Shadowclan’s first climbing disaster.”
