Morningpaw woke up with a start as his nightmares carried into the waking world in his half awake half asleep state for a few moments before Morningpaw was able to look around and place himself in Thunderclan’s apprentices den. The apprentice took a breath and when he caught it enough he sighed and dropped his face into his crossed first paws. Everything is okay. He’s home again. And he had Wolfpaw. With some other personal reassurances Morningpaw finally looked around the den to see if anyone else was in or night. There was. The apprentice didn’t really recognize them but they seemed around his age kind of, older maybe. “H-hello? Sorry about that, had a bad dream and stuff…” Morningpaw embarrassedly tried to explain the blunder he just had to the other apprentice, “I’m sorry have we met before? I’m Morningpaw, what’s your name?”

Morningpaw frowned a bit at the other apprentice's lack of reaction but it was no matter. Nothing to get grumpy over, Morningpaw himself wasn't the best at socializing and especially so in the mornings. So maybe this cat was just a slow waker like he was. The bi-colored apprentice got up and stretched a bit in his nest before looking at the snow white apprentice again, "Your name? I asked for your name." Okay so maybe that was a bit short but Morningpaw genuinely didn't mean it like that. It was just his default settings in the morning. At least he didn't like snap at the other apprentice or anything, that would've been a million times more embarrassing than a slight snark was. Man, it was wayyyyy too early to be doing something like this. A yawn spread his jaws and it was wide enough to make his eyes water, yep, he was definitely going to take a nap later.

Whitepaw frowned he knew his named, just didn't ever say it. It might come out odd.... "Whih-pah. Aih dephf buh reah liphs."

Morningpaw flicked an ear as he listened to the other apprentice's speech. It was off, poor. But it was off enough for him to think that there was probably something else going on that Morningpaw wasn't really... he thought about the sounds. Whitepaw. Deaf. Oh makes sense, yep! Maybe if he thought about things for more than five seconds than he would answer his questions before they formed and then that would save time. Though this did prove a slight issue, Morningpaw didn't know any sign, but it seemed that this cat didn't either. Or at least assumed that Morningpaw didn't know sign which is a fair assumption. Well...time for some very awkward and stilted bonding because Morningpaw had no other plans for the morning. "Well then. Whitepaw. I'm Morningpaw. Do you know any sign language? I don't, but maybe you can teach me some signs?" He tried to talk slower to make it easier for the other apprentice to read his muzzle.

This guy was deaf... and hasn't heard of sign language? What kind of failure of a parent did this guy have? Of a mentor? Surely they would've begun teaching him sign language as a young kit so that he could communicat properly with his clan? This was crazy and Morningpaw was only 6 moons and could tell that this whole thing is utterly crazy. The apprentice sighed and tried to not get upset at the snow white apprentice in front of him. It wasn't like it was Whitepaw's fault that he wasn't taught as he should've been. "It's non verbal communication. As such its communication you don't need to hear to understand. It's not the most common language. You should talk to Drizzlecloud when you can, have her teach you so that you can communicate easier. I want to learn as well when I can."
