Duskleaf had been out for a walk when he heard what sounded like an argument, well, he heard one cat getting angry with another. If two cats were arguing, it wasn’t really his place to say anything but he did want to know what it was about. One of the cats was Larkwing, from what he’d heard the former leader of RiverClan. The other was Redmire, and from what he’d seen, a cat that got into arguments quite often. She looked quite badly injured though, and if Duskleaf had a sense of smell he’d have probably noticed the scent of illness. Did she just not go to the medicine den after the battle? Duskleaf hid behind a bush so he could listen but without seeming like he was intruding, hoping his leafy fur would make him a bit less visible too.
But then Redmire said something to Larkwing that sounded quite threatening. Redmire said something about wanting someone to…eradicate her? Right maybe he should actually say something. An argument is one thing, a threat is another. Stepping out of the bush and approaching the two cats, without even stopping to shake the extra leaves out of his fur, Duskleaf sat down a tail length or so from Redmire. "Redmire, you're entitled to think whatever you want about any cat, but threatening is too far. I want you to stay at least three tail lengths away from Larkwing from now on." Getting a closer look now at Redmire’s injuries, he was quite concerned about that. "Your injuries look pretty bad, go see Mistyshard and Berrypaw before that gets any worse, I don't know how long you’ve left it but that definitely needs treatment, and right away."
[In case you can't find them since exile kinda complicated things, the healing thread is here and the temporary medicine den is here. Also just a heads up, Redmire will be punished if she argues or doesn't comply, along with if she goes within three tail lengths of Larkwing again]

Redmire's eyes glinted with something that wasn't exactly murderous, but might as well have been with the ire that fueled it as she replayed the battle in her head. Most of it was obscured in a haze, but she definitely would have remembered seeing Larkwing fighting in the fray, because she would have taken it upon herself to cut the former leader down.
"You should have stayed gone," she sneered. "You left us to drown, and you expect everyone to welcome you back with open arms? Did you even fight with us when we were overrun by the others? Going to guess no, because you're a coward and a traitor, like everyone who's ever come before you." Fadingstar kept forgiving them. It was one of the reasons she couldn't stand him; he made a huge show of wanting to rebuild RiverClan and restore them to their former glory, but allowed spineless rats like this one and Birdsnow to rot them from the inside out. If the battle hadn't rendered them six feet under, then Larkwing's presence surely would.
"You're a disease." It would be obvious to any onlookers that it wasn't just Redmire's fevered haze causing her to spit such venom. "Someone ought to eradicate you before you fester and infect the rest of us."

Larkwing

Lark is used to venom. She has heard it all before, by others and by her own mind. She should not be as easily riled up as Redmire is making her. She shouldn't be bothered by it. But she is bothered by it. But she can't go one day without someone hating something she's doing and, in this case, the hatred is simply for existing here right now.
"Have I asked for forgiveness?" Larkwing snaps, voice sharp, a hint of the old authority she used to hold as leader creeping into its edges. A cracking dam. "Last time I checked, I have asked no one for their forgiveness, and especially not you.." Larkwing stays silent about her participation in the ambush, she didn't fight and that was wrong of her to do, but she'd been weak from insufficient food the past months, and her brain had been slow to work. And, on top of that... she was preoccupied keeping a certain other cat from getting left behind.
The young warrior's comment about her being a disease, though, actually managed to make Lark laugh. She's heard that before. "You want me eradicated? Fine. Eradicate me." There was a hiss of a challenge in her voice before this little... conversation was quickly broken up by Duskleaf, the newest Lionheart. Larkwing's emerald gaze settles briefly on him, noting the order for them to stay away from each other. Fine. That works for her.
"I'll see myself away, then. Unless you think I can't be trusted and need an escort?" There's a bitter note to the question, and it's half directed at Duskleaf and half at Redmire. And maybe it's petty and unwarranted, but sue her then! She's allowed to feel slighted by the cats of this clan.
Having scooped up Breezy for this outing and figuring the Lionheart would understand where her head was at with this idea, Dusklion tossed him a glance. "Figure we can collect sticks, rocks, whatever we can find, 'n use 'em as border defense. Scent markers may work - well, may be designed to work in the Clans, but here it's any cat's guess. So I wanna make sure RiverClan is well defended." Silently, she added that she didn't want them to ever be caught off guard like how they had been when all three Clans had descended upon them. But, for now, she kept it to herself.
"Wish there was a beach or somethin' nearby - shells were always my go-to for border defense. Sharp, small, but pack a powerful punch." She already knew she would be doing that along RiverClan's borders once they returned home. Spotting a couple of sticks nearby Dusklion broke away from Breezy to pick them up, returning to his side as she kept looking.

“Ocean waters rising above your neck
You feel the glass start to crack.”
Seabreeze padded out beside the deputy and it had him thinking. It has been awhile since they two of them have just been out together... or actually have they ever? The lionheart went through his memories and sure enough he doesn't think that he'd ever been in a full encounter with Dusklion without someone else. Which wasn't bad or even odd or wrong, it was just an observation and it made him wonder why it was just him that she asked to bring along while doing something so important. Most likely because while they would be collecting things to strengthen defense it was more about locating and planning than actually finishing any of their 'borders.' That made him nervous... borders... he wasn't sure if it was fair to even call them that... could Riverclan claim to have any land here? No, they don't. But so far they hadn't run into anyone else really... and if there was a problem it wasn't like it would hurt to move again, after all that was all that was fair for Riverclan to do, just move further away.
The lionheart nodded at the deputy as she finished her explanation and opinion on the matter... "[B]I agree... though... if we do encounter anyone else here I think
Whatever authority there was in Larkwing's words went completely dismissed as Redmire bared her teeth. Cats didn't ask for forgiveness, it was handed to them when those around them deemed it fit. Redmire would never see the feline in front of her worthy of it. To accept the title of deputy, and then that of leader, only to abandon your Clan when they needed you most - it was despicable. And if Redmire had her way, she'd take both Larkwing and Birdsnow out to the furthest border and open up their stomachs for what they'd done.
She almost did it here, in the clearing. The challenge was clear enough, and the fever was marring her senses, dampening the logic and restraint she usually prided herself on. She took a step forward, pelt bristling as she started to lift a paw in preparation to take a life that should have already been taken - when Duskleaf interrupted.
Panting and wobbling on unsteady feet, Redmire turned hateful eyes on the Lionheart. Staying far away from Larkwing was just fine by her, but she'd rather put her eyes to thorns than be within fifty feet of Mistyshard. "I'm not going to go see that walking corpse," she spat. "She's not going to be of any help if she couldn't even keep herself alive!" She didn't have any idea of what Berrypaw was like, but if they affiliated with Mistyshard, they were probably already tainted, anyway.
[ @Neptune. @Seamrog - red's infection and fever are making are pretty out of it/unreasonable atm so she'll probably have to be forcefully dragged to the medicine den for healing o7 highly unlikely she'll go on her own ]
Well Duskleaf hadn’t been expecting that, Redmire had a grudge of some kind against Mistyshard? But regardless of any grudge, this was certainly an overreaction. He knew that infections could sometimes mess with a cat’s head, especially when they’d been left untreated for this long. If Redmire wasn’t going to go to the medicine den willingly, then as much as she'd hate it, Duskleaf would have to drag her to the medicine den. "If you don't like Mistyshard, then Berrypaw can treat you, but you have to get those wounds treated right away."
[Powerplay permissions to drag Redmire to the medicine den were discussed beforehand!]
He walked over to her and grabbed the scruff of her neck so that he would be out the way of her claws or fangs, he was trying not to hurt her but also trying to get a firm grip. Redmire would probably hate him forever now, but that was preferable to letting her infections get any worse than they already were. Taking a few steps backwards, Duskleaf began to drag Redmire towards the medicine den, occasionally turning his head slightly to see as far back as he could so he didn’t crash into anything or anyone.
@dino. [Imagining this scene is so funny and I don’t know why XD]

TW: Sadness, self-hate, embarrassment
Pfft. Who cared she had turned 21 moons old? Who cared she had finally passed into full adulthood. Clearly her Clanmates were better off ignoring her. Red stared at her paws. Why were they so small? Ugh. “I hate you, paws.” she hissed. Oop. Did she say that out loud?
Redwater was hungry. She really was. StarClan, send me some snacks. That sounded like something Finpaw would say. “Damn it.” thoughts of her sweet brother flooded her mind and Red flumped onto the dirt, squeezing her paws over her ears. “Hah! Go faster, Redpaw!” his voice…
Speaking of a voice… one snapped into Redwater’s ears. She looked up and blinked. Deerspark? Huh. she couldn’t remember the last time she talked to Deerspark—wooooooah… he looked different than she remembered. She blinked. Why was her face hot?
Oh. Was that a bird? Uhhh… “W-well,” she stammered, and stared at the bird. StarClan had sent her some snacks, that’s for sure. “Sure. Sure.” she nodded. Sure. She would… try to eat it.

Success? Kinda? I mean, she wasn't yelling at him for bringing what could be considered roadkill for her to eat. In fact, she seemed the least bit bothered. Wait, wait. He was wrong, she was bothered. The stammering probably gave a hint to Redwater being uncomfortable, and Deerspark couldn't blame her. With him around, everything seemed to be uncomfortable. Must be a curse of his.
Redwater seemed to have been doing something before he came over to her as well. She had her paws over her ears and her belly to the ground. Deerspark wondered what frazzled her in such a way. A loud noise maybe? Deerspark couldn't help with that, unfortunately. His hearing had been dimmed lately, how was he supposed to help with anything of that sort? Right, useless, as always.
"Not... Alone. I'll uh. Um. I can. Help." Deerspark lay down, flinching slightly as his thin fur came into contact with the hot rock. He wasn't sure what was worse, being long furred and hot or thin furred. Both seemed pretty bad in his opinion seeing as the sun would bake one and scorch the other. But maybe it was the new setting that made fur length all bad. Wait, not maybe. It was. Having bare pads on hot rock was like stepping right into ashes. At least back where Riverclan was supposed to be they actually had a river that cats could sink into whenever they felt like tearing their pelt off. Which begged the question, what was worse? Freezing to death or burning?
Deerspark chewed on this thoughts for awhile as he always did. Thinking and thinking, one thread led to another, one spurt of information gave Deerspark more questions. A home he'd made in his mind. Perhaps even a prison. Once he was in, it seemed almost impossible to get out. Suddenly, a gust of wind hit him and sent the scent of Redwater flushing into his nose. The tom widened his eyes, then blinked, looking at the she-cat with a clouded yet startled gaze. He wondered what in the world he was doing here before his mind caught up to him.
Bird. He offered to eat it with her. He was an idiot.
Right... Yeah, right.
Without another word, Deerspark began to tear through feathers and eat at the bird he'd caught, giving Redwater enough room to dig in herself. Questions. He'd certainly get questions about what the heck he'd dozed off about. He'd just have to beat her to it, ask her something first. That's how conversations usually worked, right? He hadn't had one in so long...
"Redwater," he began after he was done chewing, testing the warriors name on his tongue. "How... How... Have you... Uh. Erm. Have... Been?" Wow Deerspark, really smooth.

Willowpaw looked at Starrypaw. "Well...... it can be. I was a very cheery apprentice and sense I'm smaller than most I was taken care of more even though I hated it. But with you I think you'll have equal treatment, but yes it is a bit hard especially at first. But it kinda turns into routine."
