Scorpionsight was hunting, near the border.
The plan was to just hunt near it.
Yup.

The nervous bengal scented the border, and then…
Another cat.

Her ears picked up.
Okay, don’t be so excited about seeing a cat from another clan, it might not even be him.

Scorpionsight peeked, and it was Raggedear.
She really shouldn’t be so happy to see a cat from another clan.

Despite that thought, she approached the edge of the border.
“Uh, hi Raggedear.” She said “I didn’t expect to see you here!”

Raggedear moved with a start, bumping his head on a low hanging branch on the bush he was crouched under. "Ow- hey! Hey." He meowed quickly, pelt flushed hot with embarrassment. He brought a paw up to rub the top of his head for a moment, before quickly pulling it away and clearing his throat. "That didn't hurt at all." He said, moving his shoulders forward as he sat up straight. "I didn't expect to see you here either!"

It had to be the embarrassment making his pelt warm still, right? But he had to admit, it felt good to see her. "I was just uh...marking the border..." The tom said slowly, as if rolling over his words. "But, uh, since you're here, how was the battle for you?"

Scorpionsight purred a bit at the tiny bit of clumsiness from Raggedear, and the way she brushed it off.

Oh, the battle.
Right.
The one she was useless in.
“I didn’t really, ah… do much…” Scorpionsight answered hesitantly “There was so much going on, so many cats, I couldn’t really get a grip, I guess?”
She cleared her throat.
“Uh, what about you?”
She wanted to move on from how she hadn’t fought a single cat.

Raggedear tilted his head curiously at the Wind-Clan she-cat, but said nothing in regards to her response, or lack thereof, about the battle. "Me?" He echoed, staring at Scorpionsight with narrowed yellow eyes. "Well...not to brag, but I sent two RiverClan warriors running with their tails between their legs!" The ThunderClan warrior puffed out his chest, turning to the side and lifting his head up to display his new scars- one on his chin, below his eye, shoulder, and back leg. "They sure put up a fight though. Good warriors, that lot. Sad to see them go, but those are the consequences." He said with a shrug, looking down at her.

"I swear I'll never get the taste of fish out of my mouth though."

Scorpionsight smiled “Well I’m glad you did well.” She said.

Her ear twitched at the thought of only three clans.
“They’ll be back, and I’m sure they’ll have learned.” She commented half-heartedly.
“I’m not sure how fish taste, but I’m sure they don’t taste the best.”

Raggedear's ear twitched awkwardly at Scorpionsight's half-hearted reply. "Are you alright?" He asked, taking a slight step closer to her. "Are you sure you didn't get hurt during the battle?" His eyes scanned the WindClan cat curiously, but he couldn't see any visible scratches or marks.

Scorpionsight seemed surprised at the sudden concern “I promise, I’m alright.” She replied with an honest smile.

“Um, how’ve you been, besides the battle?” She asked. They couldn’t just talk about battle right? It wasn’t her favorite topic, at least.

Finally sensing that Scorpionsight didn't want to discuss the battle anymore, Raggedear gave a short, sympathetic look and plopped down on his side, grooming his fur for a moment before speaking. "Hmm, let's see..." He said aloud, head tilting as he thought of what news he may have. "Well, I got a new apprentice- Ivypaw! She seems like a sweet kid, I can't wait to start training her, but that's two apprentices under my paws now." He chuffed lightheartedly.

"What about you?"

“Oh, congratulations!” Scorpionsight said kindly.
Two apprentices? Raggedear must be an impressive warrior then.
Okay, well, that was already obvious.

“I haven’t done much lately except a patrol, but I guess that means I’m doing well of nothing bad has happened.”
Honestly, she was finally adjusting to the whole ‘clan’ thing, even though it had definitely taken her a bit.
