Entering the nursery, Ashkit looked at Dragonflykit.
Bounding up to her, they exclaimed;
“Hello! Hi! I’m Ashkit! The nursery’s awesome, right? Right??” Ashkit tilted their head, sitting down and grinning excitedly.
“Wanna play Clan with me??” Ashkit jumped to their paws, pittering their paws against the soft dirt-and-moss floor of the nursery.
Oh, joy, another kit. Maybe this is what Dragon needs, some social interaction. The sleek kit sat up and returned Ashkit's grin - they were smiling too much not to. "Oh, sure we can!" Dragonflykit was intrigued to play, her smile was genuine, but that didn't stop her eyes from straying to Ashkit's pelt. It wasn't her job to judge her clanmates by fur neatness, buuuut..

Ashkit grinned almost ear-to-ear, eyes glinting in excitement.
“Alright! I’ll be the leader! You be the deputy! Okay??” They mewed quickly, dashing around their new ‘friend’.
“So, uhm.. whaddya wanna do??”

Ashkit’s ears perked up, and the kit blinked in a surprised look.
“Oh! I know! Let’s find someone to FIGHT!” They smirked evilly, gesturing with their tail for Dragonflykit to follow them out of the nursery and into the clearing.
Stormkit snoozed on her back, snoring as she slept.
Jolting awake, she looked around, eyes bright and for
Some reason was grinning largely.

Dragonflykit was just sitting, not really thinking or sleeping or anything really. It was a nice day outside, but Dragon felt trapped inside. Stormkit's sudden stirring caught Buzz's eye and she looked to her denmate.

Just then Wildkit walked in "Wanna play Dragonflykit?" she asked then she walked over to a corner of the nursery and waited for someone to hang out with her.
Mosquitokit watches Wildkit for long enough that it starts getting weird. He's bug-eyed and overfocused, staring her down like he's scared his narrow head might pop if he doesn't.
And he's not scared about that, necessarily, but he is...well—worried. Nervous? Unsure...?
All of the above??
Mosquitokit's a clever thing. As clever as anyone can be at his age, anyway—clever for a kit so young his eyes still haven't darkened to a color different from that deep baby blue (those peepers'll fade brown someday!). He knows that, if someone asks someone else to play, then that means...well. That means she wants to play. And if someone wants to play and then goes and sits by herself, then that means she's doing something that maybe she doesn't like doing. Or something. Which is not fun.
Mosquitokit knows three things, so it's time to think of them in a handy list (his favorite):
- Wildkit wants to play
- Wildkit is not playing right now
- Mosquitokit himself would also...maybe...like to play
He knows he knows those things because they're obvious and because he's thinking so, so hard about it. He's just sat there, staring at her, thinking waaaaay too hard. The real issue, right, the real problem, is that he doesn't know if she would like to play with him.
After all, she did not say Mosquitokit. She said Dragonflykit, who is someone else entirely. Would it be bad to ask, he wonders? Would it be weird? He doesn't want to be weird or bad, but he doesn't know what to do to make sure those things don't happen, and—
Oh, ouch. His eyes are starting to sting. He remembers to blink and finally has the good sense to feel overwhelmingly embarrassed about staring another kit down for a freakishly long time instead of acting on what he's trying to figure out if he should even act on.
Now Mosquitokit knows a third thing:
- He has to say something, or else he's already failed at not doing anything bad or weird.
Mosquitokit blinks again. He has to say something. His litte jaw is clenched so tightly that it's starting to get sore. He has to say something. What if he says it wrong, what does he do then? He has to say something.
Mosquitokit says, in Wildkit's general direction: "...Uh."
His ears (too big for his slim little skull, floppy and hysterical to behold) feel hot. He's really got himself way too worked up over this. Why is it always so difficult? He wishes he didn't have to think this hard about things.
He makes another list to overthink: Things Mosquitokit is Upset About
- Himself
- Thinking
- Talking
He gets frustrated with himself, features crumbling into a thoughtful pout and eyes finally dropping down to his soft black paws. Only three things? He feels wretched, surely the list should be longer. There have to be more things.
"....Uhmmm..."
This time he speaks without really meaning to and it jars him back into the moment, forcing him to reengage with the new problem at hand: he is being rude to someone. There's no other way to look at it. He is being rude and awful to Wildkit by staring at her and talking at her like this. He has to make amends immediately, somehow. He has to say! something! or else he will be bad and weird for forever.
"S-Sorry," Mosquitokit starts again slowly, suddenly finding it very hard to look at Wildkit at all. He resists the urge to think of anymore lists of things.
"I like. T'play, if," He clears his throat. "If you wanna...uh, t-to do that. With me. Also."
That doesn't feel like he's said enough, or mybe he hasn't said the right things, because he still feels the way he does when he wakes up from a nightmare: shaky, warm, and a little bit sick. Mosquitokit swallows hard.
"But. S'okay if, uh, if you don't wanna. That's okay too, okay?? AlsoI'mMosquitokit."
Wildkit tilts her head and laughs " Orange really just say it I know I'm weird but I don't care if that's what you want to call me, we can walk wherever you want to go?" Wildkit thinks long and hard about explaining why she ran out but she's afraid it will happen again and make him hate her. So she asks, " Where do you want to walk to?" Wildkit starts to feel like she's being awkward again and runs to hide under some moss. "I'm sorry for hiding just tell me where you want to walk to and we can go or ill go by myself."
