Theo noticed Hero quicken his pace, but that didn't matter as of right now. They walked over to the rabbit, a confused frown on his face. The rabbit looked strangely calm before he walked up. There were two quite large predators walking by it and it didn't react. As he got closer, the rabbit looked terrified and tried to run. Wait..tried?? Their eyes widened as he saw a thick thorn vine wrapped around the poor things leg. Yes he ate rabbits occasionally, but they didn't deserve this. "Hey, this rabbit's stuck! It has a vine wrapped around it's paw..or..foot? Whatever it is, it's stuck, and I dont wanna scare the thing.." He called over, looking back with a concerned look on his face.

Hero had noticed a bit before Theo had called out to him, and his annoyed expression fell into one that twined Theo's own worried look. He immediately scrambled over, crouching beside Theo to get a better look at the rabbit's ensnared paw. "Good eye, Theo," he said, but not loud enough to frighten the rabbit even further. Poor thing! he thought, frowning as the rabbit tried and tried again to run, only managing to dig the thorns deeper into its leg. He crept a little closer, advancing slowly, eyes on the rabbits beady black ones. "Hey, little guy. It's okay," he said softly, trying to make himself appear smaller. "I just want to help."

He waited for the rabbit to stop squirming and soon its heartrate also dropped from panicked leaps to a steady beat. Still obviously frightened, but that was to be expected from a prey animal. Hero glanced back at Theo, quite proud of himself and hoping they were impressed. Then, back to the task at hand - er, paw - he dipped his head and gently nibbled at the vine with his sharp teeth. The rabbit's eyes widened as he brought his jaw toward it, but its panic quickly subsided once it noticed Hero was trying to free it.

"Done," Hero said, sitting up. The vine had been knawed through, parting and freeing the rabbit. As soon as it realized it was no longer trapped, it shot into the undergrowth, quick as a flash. He chuckled, and stood up to continue his walk. "Next problem is yours to handle," he told Theo, grinning despite himself. He just couldn't help it; the way his heart leapt when he knew he'd done something good, something that might just change the world, or at the very least the life of who or whatever he helped... it was a feeling like no other, and was the feeling he lived his life on.

Maybe Theo would get the same feeling when he solved the next puzzle they encountered.

Theo watched the tom gently try and sooth the rabbit and free it from the vines. A soft smile crept over his face. Despite himself, they quite liked Hero. "I'm sure I'll be fine with our
next issue. I just didnt wanna scare the rabbit, and you handled it better than I would've..I'm impressed" He purred, continuing their patrol of two around Hero's territory...territory? Didn't matter, he continued their walk. He grinned at Hero's grin, mildly shocked the cat could smile. He looked at Hero for a moment, well more so his eyes. "You have really nice eyes y'know." He said casually, smiling. He blinked, shocked at himself momentarily.

Hero's ears perked up at the compliment, and he felt a warmth spread across his face again, making him momentarily lose his composure. He had always been focused on his duties and responsibilities, not used to receiving such personal praise.

"Uh, thanks," Hero mumbled, his voice softer than usual. He felt a mix of pride and embarrassment, unsure how to react to the genuine admiration in Theo's words. He was used to appreciation for his actions, not for his appearance or demeanor.

Clearing his throat, Hero tried once more to regain his focus. "Let's keep moving. There's still a lot to check on," he said, his tone a bit more businesslike, though a small, pleased smile still lingered on his lips.

As they continued their patrol, Hero couldn't help but glance at Theo from time to time, feeling a new sense of camaraderie. He found himself enjoying the company more than he had expected.

Theo smiled, watching the tom for a moment. He heard a bush rustle nearby and their ears twitched. They turned, eyes scanning the area, and he shrugged after not seeing anything. He continued walking, ears perked up. He heard the bush rustle again a few minutes later and he stopped, looking at Hero. "You..you heard that right?? It sounds like it was following us."They said, eyes scanning the underbrush once more. He couldn't smell a predator, but he was still worried. He looked back at Hero, motioning for him to come stand next to him.
