Flashpaw swallowed. Hard. She was so scared of messing up she almost missed the
encouraging words offered by her gray-colored mentor. Flashpaw nodded slowly, then her
jade-hued eyes flicked to the area she had smelled the lizard. Her disability made it a little
hard to locate it, so she heavily relied on the scent that hung in the air. She'd become
accustomed to calling the weird smell lizard, and so she considered that good. "Th-tha-
thanks." She whispered. Okay, Flashpaw. Focus is key. Just FOCUS, and you'll be fine.
Yeah... She had to have fun. That was all. Just have fun and it'll be easier! Hopefully! Maybe..!
Flashpaw turned her attention back to the unfortunate prey. The rough scent clung to her
nostrils as she crept delicately toward it. Stay hidden, he'd said. All Flashpaw had to do was
stay hidden, and she'd catch it. Licking her lips, Flashpaw slowly slunk along the forest floor,
her classic-tabby ginger pelt a little too easy to see for her liking. Flashpaw noticed it, finally.
She could finally see her prey instead of her view being blocked by sticks and grass. She stared,
unblinking, at the creature.
Rough-skinned and long, with tiny little legs with even smaller claws used to grip the small
stone it rested on, Flashpaw noted the fact it seemed on high alert. It's small hazel orbs of
eyes glinted in the shadowy midday light. Every hair on her pelt felt like it might shift in the
wind and the lizard would spot her. But it didn't. She took this to heart, and with a small
wriggle of her back haunches and lacking a second thought, the ginger classic tabby lunged
out of the undergrowth toward her victim, eyes flashing briefly before she landed directly on
top of it. She stood like a stunned rabbit for a moment, then dipped her head to nip it's neck
and kill the pinned-by-the-tail reptilian. But just as her teeth snapped at it, the creature lost
it's tail and scurried away, leaving Flashpaw dumbfounded and confused. She blinked slowly,
then looked up at her mentor, one side of her mouth twitching, tempted to form a smile and
laugh, but embarrassment kept it from showing. So instead she stooped down, grasped the
tail that was still beneath her paws within her teeth, and straightened herself back up, staring
stupidly at Silverlark.

Melting into the shadows, the tom followed after his apprentice, keeping his steps silent as he became one with the darkness. He'd always had a penchant to become invisible, unwilling to show his shameful pelt to everyone in the clan. Especially his mother. It was truly a coincidence that this little skill of his made him quite the ShadowClan ambushing fiend, and it worked wonders to follow his apprentice around as she stalked her prey. He wasn't worried about her ability to catch the lizard, truth be told. Lizards were tricky tricky, and he wouldn't be angry if she couldn't quite get to it on the first try. Which of course meant that the tom was quite befuddled - if not ecstatic - when he saw Flashie land right on top of that scaly crawler more efficiently than he'd done himself until moons after his training had begun.
Holding back the urge to cheer for the paw's success - best leave it for when the deed was complete, heh heh - Silverlark almost gasped in shock as the lizard... left its tail behind?! How did that happen?! Could lizards do that?! Moss and bog, he didn't know that! Well, that just proved it, right? Always something new to learn, yep. No time to marvel, however. He would not allow this first hunt of hers to end this way!
With the lizard unaware of his presence, the enforcer rushed forward in the shadows, aiming to cut the lizard down before it vanished forever. Had he been following it in a straight line, the silver throated tom would never have caught up. Of that much he was certain. Gratefully, the critter sought the shelter of the darkness, and that was were the warrior made his move. Teeth flashed white as the short furred feline's broad head poked out of the shade, nipping the lizard in the neck with a carefully practiced move that ended its life in a moment. Limp critter still in maw, he turned towards his apprentice, attempting a beaming smile without dropping their prey as he bounded giddily towards her, only letting go once he had reached her side.
"Yooo, Flashies! Good job, good job. I didn't know, did you? That tail surprise! Wowowowowow! And after you had landed on it, too. Lizard cheated, I tells yous. No matter, no matter. If it hadn't gotten rid of that tail, I tells yous what! You would have gotten that lizard. Chomp chomp! Now we know though, yeah? Yeah yeah! Never grabs them lizards by their tails because! Who would have guessed they weren't real tails, right?!" Silverlark chirped, prodding the critter with one white dipped toe. "What says you? What says you? Want to head back home? Tired tired? Or wanna keep going? Get revenge for that no good, cheating prey?"
@zBlaze [Flashpaw]
| No worries, no worries! It's all good. Rolled a 20 sided dice to see if Silverlark caught the lizard before it got away, and he rolled a 20, so he managed to get one cool moment before his apprentice before he became a little ball of happiness again, I guess. |

Flashpaw blinked her verdant green eyes, stared at her mentor as he caught the Lizard, then snorted. Snorted again. Oh. It appeared she was laughing- hard. She hadn't laughed this hard in Forever. She chortled and tried to hold if in but it failed miserably. Instead her ears popped in her attempts and after about three minutes she inhaled sharply, then froze while recollecting herself. No way!! Her luck wasn't running out yet, apparently. She stared intently as a small toad hopped in the distance. She could see it. Smell it. Hear it. Sense it and its vibrations in the earth. She casted a nervous glance at Sulverkark, then dropped into a crouch. Oookay. Here we go. Don't fail. Don't fail. Please don't fail. But she had to loosen up. She had to relax. Allowing her shoulders relax, she slinked closer to her prey, eyes fixated on the creature. Sliding closer and closer to the animal, she lunged at it suddenly. It had no chance as she landed flat on top of it and bit it's neck. The kill was extremely messy and she almost fell flat on her rump and did a flipped when she landed her leap,, but she ddid. She stared up at Silverlark, eyes shining. She actually did it. Actually. Okay she loved Silverlark no questions he was the best mentor in history she actually caught something YAY.
Scooping it up in her mouth, she bounded like a rabbit with a smile so large her jaw hurt. She skirted to a halt in front of her mentor, dropped the catch, and gave him a joyous lick on the nose. "Th-Th-Thank you! I-I caught it! Y-you taught me- a-and thank y-you!" She said, voice stuttering and fast and possibly unidentifiable. But she didn't care,, SHE CAUGHT A TOAD!!

Like the super hard working apprentice she was, Flashies was instantly on it, trying to get revenge for that nasty, cheating lizard that would no doubt still be delicious. Silently, keeping to the shadows once more, Silverlark followed, doing his best to stay well away from her. This was her hunt. Her prey. He wouldn't get involved... unless this one was a cheater as well, hmph! Ain't no prey pulling a fast one on his apprentice, nope!
Even before she caught it, the enforcer's mouth watered, the scent of toad unmasked even by the lizard in his maw. Mmmm, toad. His absolute favorite meal. If Flashies caught this, then he was going to have to apologize to any and all future apprentices he might have, but they would have a hard time replacing her as his number one special paw, mmmhmmm. Because... toad? As her first caught prey? What could possibly be better than that? Well... possibly two toads instead of one, but this was a first attempt, and he wasn't asking for miracles here.
Heart beating fast in his own chest, feeling the nerves of a first hunt all over again as the ginger tabby rushed forward, a massive, triumphant whoop echoed throughout the woods, the stocky tom instantly celebrating with his apprentice. Because! Because. Look at her! Catching her first prey! From a bundle of nerves to a ShadowClan hunter proper! He was so proud!
"Way to go, way to go! Tolds you yous gots this, yeah? Yeah yeah yeah! That lizard? No good cheater. But toads? Not only not cheaters, but delicious! Best prey in the forest, yum yum. Oh! Oh! We should celebrate, yes! Let's get back to camp, and yous cans carry this back and put it in the prey pile, yeah? Your first contribution! Although... hmm... maybe I should look away. That toads looking too tasty to get back to camp in one piece, heh heh," the tom chortled giddily, his paws dancing upon the ground as he struggled to stand still.

| So, I believe this can be counted as Flashpaw's hunting lesson completed? Can move on to different hunting if you want, or different lessons? I believe she got fighting lessons from Lostspark? Not sure if she is needing stealth lessons as well? If so, even though Silverlark is still injured, he should be able to give her that lesson, so feel free to send me a starter and we can get on that one! If all she needs is post count, can also send me a starter for more extra lessons if you'd like! If it's an assessment she needs, I would need to check a few things. Uncertain if Silverlark can hold an assessment in his current condition, but if Flashpaw wants him to assess her himself, he can go over to Dawnstar and tell him he's going to ask Mossfreckle if he's ready for assessments at the very least, because the lad's paws are aching at this point. He wants to get back in the game! |
