the defending of beastbelly makes fury bubble up inside foxglovekiss. anger swallows her whole, like a snake would a mouse. "you're nothing! nothing, do you hear me?! I'm disgusted to even call you my kin, let alone my child!" she snarls, taking a step closer to hickorysplinter. his pleads to return to the living world are pushed aside. she resists the urge to tackle the shadowclanner, claws scraping against the ground.
it's alright, it's fine. smooth your pelt, foxglovekiss! there's better cats out there, ones worthy of being your kin, she thinks. her fur lays flat. an eery calmness, almost joy.
she turns away without a word, padding away, ending the dream.

trigger warnings for this post: nonehickorysplinter was jolted back to reality with a yowl and landed on- the nice moss bed in the warrior den. another cat- well, he hoped it was a cat, it was mostly a dark shape, hissed at him to shut up and go back to sleep.
