Auction Guide
Come one, come all: with the arrival of the Auction Arena as a subcategory, we want to make sure you have all your cards in check! This guide should help you get familiar with the art of auctioning on Warrior Cats Online.
---
Overview
For those of you going "???????"
An auction is when you put something up for grabs for people to bid on; it will go to the highest bidder. You may auction things like art, character designs, characters, and services (e.g. art/writing commissions).
Lingo
There are several numbers and terms that you should be aware of when hosting or participating in an auction:- Starting Bid - this is the amount the auction starts at. Bidders cannot bid lower than this.
- Minimum Increase - this is the lowest amount that should be increasing between bids.
- Auto Buy - a set price that members can immediately buy the item for instead of bidding on it.
- End Date/Time - the time in which the auction ends. The highest bidder at this time wins the auction and no bids made after are counted.
Not every auction will have all of these (though they should all have an end time), but they generally work to help auctions flow smoother.
Auctioning Process
To answer the question: "how do auctions go?"
Host-side:
You've put your auction thread up with the good/service you want to auction. Now, you get to watch the bidding unfold until the auction ends. When it does, announce the winner. Ensure they have what they paid for when you receive your compensation.
Bidder-side:
There's some rad art up on the auction block. You see it, you like it, you want it. If you are the first bidder, make a post with a bid that is equal to or greater than the starting bid. If you are not the first bidder, make a post with a bid greater than the last bid. As other people bid above yours, you can continue to make posts with higher bids.
Do not bid above your budget. You should be able to pay what you are bidding, including the automatic 7.5% tax for all transactions. In the case that the auction gets above what you can/want to pay, tap out and stop bidding. If you hold the highest bid at the end of the auction, you win; you get the item and must pay the auction host.

FAQ
Can I auction off [blank]?
Items should be tangible and have use for the receiver. If you are uncertain, send in a support ticket.
Can I auction things for real money?
That is permitted, as long as you clearly mark that the auction is for real life currency. Note that Warrior Cats Online can not monitor transactions off of our website and cannot be held liable for any issues that arise from those transactions.
If I don't win the auction, do I have to pay anything?
No.
