Smiling faintly at Cherryswirl as her new mentor assured her that she'd be a fine apprentice, Minkpaw practically vibrated with pleasure as the warrior promised to take her out on a territory tour. "Okay." She whispered, pupils dilating suddenly when Cherryswirl moved away for some reason. Minkpaw hissed softly in pain when the older molly's shadow left her, her ears pinning back against her skull, her eyes squeezing shut to make the insistent burning stop.
She only opened her eyes when a warm voice sounded by her ear, and a equally affectionate nuzzle followed. Peeking up at Birdpaw, Minkpaw felt her heart swell with joy at the sight of her not-aunt-but-still-aunt. "Hi. Thank you." Technically, Birdpaw was Minkpaw's aunt, considering the fact that Pikestar -- er, Snowleap, had been Minkpaw's Godfather.
As Birdpaw moved away, Minkpaw loitered in place, unsure whether to move or not. She stood there at the front, alone and unsure what to do now, and then remained there as Gingerstar moved on with the meeting. Cloudheart was named a warrior, and then the ginger leader announced that.. Streamstone's name was to be changed. Minkpaw blinked, taking in this information as someone shouldered up to the front, coincidentally beside her. Oh, it was the apprentice from earlier... The one who'd been staring at her as if she'd grown two heads or something. The one who Cherryswirl had waved to when she'd walked off.
Her steps uncertain, but her eyes begging for relief, Minkpaw shuffled backwards into Fishpaw's shadow and crouched to make herself smaller than her already-runt-body was. Her shoulders sagged with immediate relaxation as the burning behind her eyelids abated slightly. Glancing sidelong at the apprentice, Minkpaw hesitated. Her quest for solace had brought her closer to the tom than comfortable, considering the way he had been glaring at her earlier. "Um. Hello." She began, pale-blue eyes fixating on the apprentice's face. "I saw my mentor waving to you earlier... Are you related to her?" Maybe he was her son? Minkpaw had no idea. Her gaze darted to Birdpaw as the molly agreed with the Wetrock title, but Minkpaw didn't agree with that. Instead she glanced up at Gingerstar. "Floodstone."
[ @Dark - Fishpaw / @Dust - Cherryswirl Mention / @poppy. - Birdpaw | Dark I just had to fuel the rivalry with Mink being oblivious and calling Cherry "her" mentor + disagreeing with his vote loool ]
Willowkit bounded over to her pretty friends side and mewed. "What are you voting for?", her fur seemed ruffled as if she was just scared. To be honest she was just scolded by her mother and the deputy but who cares! "I'm going for Sharpstone! It sounds cool. Mommy and Weepingkit agree with my idea to!"
(three sharpstone votes hehe)

Minkpaw couldn't help it. Her ears flicked back against her head with bewilderment at the apprentice's cold tone. Her pale hues widened slightly after a couple moments with belated understanding. "Oh, I didn't... I didn't know Cherryswirl had another apprentice." Her gaze darted to the warrior in question for a brief moment. Would Cherryswirl have time.. for her? Minkpaw was a lot to deal with, she knew that through experience. She was too tiny, too fragile, too weak, her eyes didn't even work properly... A sinking feeling began in her chest, but Minkpaw ignored it.
"Sorry." She apologized softly, daring a glance up at Fishpaw. "I just thought... I'm sorry." Swallowing down the sting of rejection, Minkpaw pasted on a wavering smile and steeled herself before shuffling back out of Fishpaw's shadow, cringing slightly at the sunlight's harsh rays. But he'd told her to move away, and she wouldn't disrespect that. She glanced briefly at Willowkit as the other female hurried up to her, but Minkpaw didn't respond.

Sunsetpaw listened to the other names. There's a lot of good names! Sunsetpaw didn't know which name to vote for. Should they vote for their own name idea..? Or...would that be not nice..? There were other cats who voted for their own name idea...but then again...well, in the end, if they don't know which own to vote for...maybe they should just..vote their own name idea...? That's alright to do, right..? "Uhm...Riverstone" Sunsetpaw said, a bit nervous about voting their own idea "because...riverclan" they decided riverstone was the best name of the three they suggested. Though they also liked Shiningstone a lot! So many good names here! Sunsetpaw would be completely fine with any of the names being chosen as the new meeting rock name. The name Gingerstone was still...odd and...well...yea...cause..yea but there's a reason behind it.
Their blue gaze went over to one of the apprentices, the one that suggested the name 'wetrock'. Well- it's a bit weird sounding but it's not bad! Rivers are (really) wet and riverclan swims so sometimes when the cat gets out of the water their fur is wet and the clan was wet when it was raining and they were all trying to walk towards the rugged range so it still made sense in Sunsetpaw's head. Not the best, but definately not the worst!

Ooo rock name voting? Cool! Which one could he vote for?? There's so many names he can vote for! So many! "Echokit votes forr...." he started "i don't know..." . Oof. Flowstones, Sharpstone, Stormstone, and Floodstone sounds cool! Then Waterblock rock and Boulderrock sounds funny. Wetrock too! They didn't like the name Gingerstone. Noo they did not like it. Not hate, but instead, not like. "uhmm..oh! I vote for...." he mewed "Wetrock!" yea! They want the name of the rock to be Wetrock! He likes it!
ok ok, well he was distracted and SUPER late! Noooooo!! He didn't know about anything now! Urghhh so so bad!! Super duper bad!! Very bad!! He only heard the name voting thingy something! He didn't even know what it was for! URGH!!! Stupid stupid stupidy pebbles!! "Uh..u-uh the UH..I vwote- i mean vote uhm-ers-uh..Sharpstone....!! Yea! That what i vote! or uh...Floodstone? Maybe Flood too" he yelled, though spoke the last part in a more normal tone. He thought the two names was super duper DUPER cool and sounds super duper great! The other names are more lame and boring and not good and lame and boring! Like his friend! Who was his friend's name again? Uh, he doesn't remember yet.
He looked around, finding a little pebble. This is revenge for making him late to the meeting! Boom! With a super duper strong kick,(not really tbh) he kicked the pebble away from him. "Yeee!! Take that, pebble!!" he mewed towards the little pebble. He's so so strong! Imagine how he would be as a warrior! He would be able to beat up enemies so quick and easily! "You shall no longer bother mwe-me anymore! Be gone!"

CinnamonSwirl smiled at Gingerstar. A new name sounded wonderful and Shiningstone sounded amazing. "I like Shiningstone!" CinnamonSwirl purred. A little ways off she heard two apprentices...bickering? Or at least that's what it looked like from what they could see. They squinted and realized with a jolt those were CherrySwirl's new apprentices. They started to pad over and heard one, FishPaw, say "...Cherryswirl was my mentor first..." CinnamonSwirl looked shocked at the apprentices rudeness. "Hey! Be nice now and, actually, you weren't her first apprentice! I was!" They said, a bit of pride at the last bit "Anyways I am sure Cherry wouldn't appreciate you talking to MinkPaw like that!'
Temperance: Reversed. Mumblepaw They/He/It/Fang/Snake (These cats should only know of and use THEY/HE/IT, As Mumble’s Neos are not public) | A Dilute Calico With Green Eyes, Three Long Stomach Scars, And Scarred Tail Stub. Master Scout & Monkeys Paw: Permanently Active | Shadow Fiend: Disabled.
It all started with the Star that Guide. They had taken him under their wing in a way. Guiding them in the proper direction, but they had allowed cats to rise to power just to tear them down to the pits of the Starless Stalks. However, the Stars that Guide did not support those cats. Beansprout or even his father. If they did not support Gingerfrost, could he…? That was an obvious choice.
No, not right now at least.
For all his life, for the last Fifteen moons, Mumblepaw had put their faith in the Stars that Guide and Starless Stalks. To lead him in the right direction. Everytime he asked for them, they brought news or a new idea to him.
Liar. Beansprout had been a liar to him, the Stars that Guide and the settlements. What was stopping Gingerfrost from doing the same, nothing. That’s why he was one.
“To keep up appearances,” that was a cheap excuse to have the name in Mumblepaw’s eyes, to keep up appearances was a joke, the settlement was just attacked twice. Beansprout had been made a fool in front of Bumblestar, she knows. She has to know that Beansprout had no lives, the flood and now this. Commandership or not, you were nothing without settlement support or else you will be used as an example. That was what Beansprout was to the other Settlements, an example of the Settlement that Guides the River was doing at the time. Head turning to the Ginger tomcat, a clear look of questioning and disagreement on his face. Mumbling under their breath. “You know exactly what you’re doing….”
What was stopping Gingerfrost from also becoming an example. Gingerfrost lead straight to fang. If Gingerfrost was to be used as an example the Mumblepaw was next in line as well.
These new ranks meant nothing to him. Herbalist, Second-In-Command and Herbalist-in-training. A random guy Mumblepaw had never seen and a cat who was just did a few patrols. How “impressive”. Tansypaw was the only cat who Mumblepaw knew and really even liked out of the three chosen. Letting the word fall out of their mouth roughly as snake hesitated slightly. “Tansypaw…”
Once again, the cat found themselves giving a small nod towards the cats in this settlement, Minkkit was no different. A faint “hmm” tags alongside the nod, something it picked up from Gingerfrost over the moons. Mumble could barely think straight let alone see the cat clearly. The learner was more focused on not choking on the air being inhaled. Tunneling was the first thing that needed to be addressed after this meeting. As the “kit”, she was beyond old enough, thank the stars. A faint memory of jumping into the river after her fills one of the slots in his brain. Minkpaw, one of Racconpelt and Flintfangs kits, the only one left as far as he knew. The name came out rough and weary as the cat moved his eyes towards her. “Minkpaw, yay..” How lazy of them, the conflicted thoughts pass through fangs mind. Acting like a kit towards this whole meeting.
The reassignment of learners came up, Mumblepaw was tempted to speak up on his behalf. Flamebriar was missing since they left the Settlement. Was she lost in the flood too? Mumble hadn’t seen her in the battle either. His mentor is most likely dead by now if she was injured and just fled, stars above, this Settlement couldn’t stop losing cats could it?
The calico felt his eyes starting to water as a result of a prolonged yawn that escaped his maw. Interesting name choices. This was like a never ending phase. A few votes rang out, Gingerstone was probably the dumbest out of all those that he had heard. That was naming something after themself. Their head shot straight towards the cat that shot the idea up. Bluefang. Tsk, how typical, doing nothing then offering a crow-food name for such an important thing. Head turning towards his father, managing to gather some sort of energy as he spoke with some sense of certainty and confidence. “My vote is to Floodstone……papa” The last word faded to whisper towards him, attempting to show some sort of familiarity and connection between them. This was the cat that Mumble had begged to be named after, they had to stay on some sort of common ground.
All the anger towards his father faded now, unable to disconnect their eyes from his for a moment after snake went quiet again. Attention being instantly grabbed by Fishpaw’s voice. Ears peeking instantly as Mumblepaw defensively stood up, a snarl appearing on the learner’s face as they weaved through the crowd and towards Fishpaw and the other two. “Excuse me, are we having a problem over here, Fishpaw?” His voice was direct and gruff from the faint bit of dehydration that he was suffering for a short time. The walk back and forth had not allowed them to grab a drink. Turning towards the other voice that joined in. The whisper of the question escaped before they could think about it. “Who the hell are you…I have never seen you in my life” UGH! Random ass cats just love to add onto the issue at paw without trying to see what was happening.
“Ya know what, I don’t have the time or patience to deal with any of this. Grow up Fishface, stars above you are going to kill me with a headache.” The calico threw in the mushroom, back away but now before snarling at Fishpaw once again. Returning to his post next to the Stone and Gingerfrost.
Eyes daring to close for longer and longer periods of time as he “blinked”. But no, he didn’t want to be dragged back to that…place. To the Stars that Guide, if fang saw Martenkit among them then he wouldn’t be able to live with snakeself. Those cat, they were evil to him. They didn’t care about what was happening on the outside.
But…it was the good of the Settlement. He was their messenger, yeah. He had to send messages back and forth. He was their tool in some sense, they were of use to the Stars that Guide and the Starless Stalks. They were helping the settlement by being the messenger. No, no, they could sleep. It was the betterment of the Settlement. If they didn’t sleep then who would be there to take in the messages?
Mumblepaw’s eyes drift from the ginger commander to the ground as they get lost in thought. Using a white paw to wipe their eyes roughly, turning back to Gingerfrost, the bags under their eyes appeared to be agitated by the sudden and rough paw movement on the area.

Minkpaw couldn't help it. Her ears flicked back against her head with bewilderment at the apprentice's cold tone. Her pale hues widened slightly after a couple moments with belated understanding. Minkpaw was a lot to deal with, she knew that through experience. She was too tiny, too fragile, too weak, her eyes didn't even work properly...
Irritation warped the small tabby’s features as the younger apprentice continued to address him, what part of “shoo” hadn’t she understood? ”Yes, she does have another apprentice, and it is me. Don’t forget that,” he said in a low growl. ”And you had better be sorry, I don’t take too kindly to having my personal space invaded, so do try to avoid that going forward.” He thought that’d be the end of it, but unfortunately, it seemed that with the minor commotion came some nosy onlookers.
Eyes narrowed, Fishpaw turned towards the latest interruption, Cinnamonswirl. Supposedly this cat was previously Cherryswirl’s apprentice as well. Why did it matter to her? She was irrelevant, a warrior now so whatever connection the two had was moot. ”Come on now sweety, go sit down somewhere and mind your own damn business. ‘Cinnamonswirl’, gosh, even your name is unoriginal - it just screams ‘Pick me!’” He said with hardly veiled disgust oozing into his voice “So run along and butt out, I don’t believe I was talking to you.” Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that Minkpaw had taken the distraction as an opportunity to sneak away. Good. Now he just had one more to deal with…
With a snarl of his own, he then turned to the other interloper - Mumblepaw. Why were they coming in droves? It was if the entire clan existed for the sole purpose of irritating him He shouldn’t have suggested his idea and just stayed in the back. Now he had to deal with nonsense that he didn’t particularly care for. Rolling his eyes, he waited for the older apprentice to finish speaking before addressing them, ”Yeah, you best be on your way too, ‘Mumblepaw’. Whoever was in charge of naming you clearly didn’t expect you to make a lasting impression on anybody. Be like your namesake and keep your trap shut. Good riddance!”
Having dealt with that distraction, he then turned back to where he expected Cinnamonswirl to be and gave her a sharp glare that dared her to say anything else. He was pissed at her the most for being the initial one to butt in his conversation to add her own input. He didn’t care what Cherryswirl thought. She wasn’t his mother, and they’d hardly even done much together. Granted, he didn’t particularly hate the she-cat, but he couldn’t help but find her usually bright personality a bit offputting. Also, it was her fault for all of this to begin with. She could’ve told Gingerstar she already had an apprentice, or she could’ve just not waved at him drawing the attention of Minkpaw, or still, she could’ve taught this supposed previous apprentice of hers some manners not to mind someone else's business.
Gosh, this was infuriating.
