High-Rank Expectations
After receiving several related questions, staff have decided to publish an outline of the in-character standards that all high ranks are expected to meet. If these standards are not met, anyone is allowed to call it out in character. If you have out-of-character concerns about a high rank, please submit a support ticket for the staff team to review.
Leaders and Deputies- Leaders should be seen around the clan frequently.
- Leaders and deputies can and should send out and go on patrols on a regular basis - if patrols aren’t going out, feel free to have your characters take notice and send them out themselves!
- Leaders should be replying to the leader’s den on a regular basis, and deputies are encouraged to participate in those discussions as well (as long as the leader allows it in character). If there are long stretches of time in between leader den replies (7 days or more), your cat can take notice and make public complaints about it.
- Leaders and deputies should be holding events or clan-wide plots every other month, especially those that focus on the improvement of their clan. Sparring, hunting, etc. are all great examples of such events. Exceptions can be made if there is a surplus of member-led events.
- Leaders and deputies should be creating and maintaining activity in clan-wide plots - we don’t want the clan stagnating! If there’s only a handful of HR posts in a clan-wide plot, feel free to have your cat notice and question where they’ve been.
- Deputies should be keeping track of apprentice training, holding mentors accountable, and stepping in or delegating training to other warriors when there are gaps. Leaders should be performing this task if the deputy is unable to.
- Leaders (and deputies, depending on the severity of the offense) should be handling punishments of misbehaving cats and warriors that are not doing their jobs. If punishments aren’t being done, your cat is encouraged to call that out!
- Leaders should be holding Clan meetings on a monthly basis at minimum where they give announcements, perform ceremonies, and take in feedback for the Clan. This should be done by the deputy if the leader is unable to; deputies should always attend and respond appropriately to meetings unless there is a viable excuse.
- If the leader is not handling their tasks, it is encouraged and even expected for deputies to take the reigns and hold the leader accountable in character. This works vice versa as well.
Medicine Cats and Medicine Cat Apprentices- Medicine cats should be seen around the camp frequently; some ideas of medicine cat specific engagement include doing random check-ups on kits, queens, or elders.
- Medicine cats should send out herb patrols on a regular basis - if patrols aren’t going out, feel free to have your character take notice and send them out themselves!
- Medicine cats should be replying to medicine den on a regular basis, and medicine cat apprentices are encouraged to participate in those roleplays as well. If there are long stretches of time between medicine den replies, your characters can and should take notice and make public complaints about it.
- Medicine cats should be holding or participating in events every other month, especially those focused on the health and wellbeing of the clan. This could be anything from clan-wide herb classes, “yoga classes” with the elders or kits, or holding herb-hunting events. If there is a lack of events, your cats are encouraged to hold events of their own. Exceptions can be made if there is a surplus of member-led events.
- Medicine cats and medicine cat apprentices should attend and respond to meetings appropriately unless there is a viable excuse.
- Medicine cats should be actively training their apprentices. If they are not, it is the medicine cat apprentice’s responsibility to make their mentor’s inaction known and to seek out other forms of training (including experimenting or learning from the other clans).
- Medicine cats are expected to maintain the herb storage and remove dead or rotting herbs frequently.
- Medicine cats and medicine cat apprentices should be creating and maintaining activity in clan-wide plots - we don’t want the clan stagnating! If there’s only a handful of HR posts in a clan-wide plot, feel free to have your cat notice and question where they’ve been.
- Medicine cats and medicine cat apprentices should be creating and utilizing prophecies and omens that affect the clan.
- If the medicine cat is not handling their tasks, it is encouraged for the medicine cat apprentice to take the reigns and hold the medicine cat accountable in character. This works vice versa as well.
