Elmshadow rose to his paws, holding his head high. Without looking at Batsong, he replied stiffly, "Your father sounded like a strong warrior. My
mindset is not one that needs changing." He dropped gracefully off the log, his toes sinking into the marshy ground. Turning his chin over his shoulder but still pointedly not giving Batsong his gaze, he mowed, "I expect I'll see you around camp."
He gathered his rat firmly in his teeth and, with it dragging against his broad chest, he bounded through the pines back toward camp.
