It was about time, Sunheart thought to himself as he led the pair of twins through the territory. He frowned to himself as he walked quietly along. Riftpaw should be at this point soon, surely...that kid. Stifling a sigh, the deputy finally came to a halt and turned to face Ravenpaw and Rainpaw.

Fixing his expression to a more happy one, he gave each of the girls a proud look. "It's time- are you ready?" Sunheart asked them. "I'm going to have you two spar each other first- then me. After that, we'll hunt for at least one piece of prey each. Following that we'll test your swimming and fishing." He explained. "Got it?"

"Once you're ready to start, let me know and get into your fighting positions." He swept them both with a stern look. "And no claws or I'll make sure Owlstar pushes your warrior ceremony back another two moons." He didn't know if the sisters were still quarreling, and he didn't care to know. That wasn't what they were here for.

It was finally here! And even though the twins had still not completely settled their…issues…today was a day they’d both apparently silently agreed to move past it. Rainpaw could see that Ravenpaw was unbothered to be close to her, and from their exchange in looks, they were both equally excited for this. While neither really mentioned it explicitly, both she-cats had dreamed of taking their assessment together and becoming warriors together. It was a long time coming…but the time had finally come!

Both twins nodded eagerly at Sunheart’s question, Rainpaw purring loudly while Ravenpaw looked just a tad bit anxious. Taking her assessment with Rainpaw was one thing, having Sunheart himself conduct it? Ravenpaw was overcome by all of her emotions on this. Honored and excited sure, but also nervous about screwing up - both in front of her deputy, and well as a cat who meant so much to her. One look from Rainpaw though, and Rae knew she had to leave it behind. Besides, Sunheart was the one who taught her, her very first lesson. It was only fitting that he be the one to finish it.

Spar against each other… Rainpaw and Ravenpaw both dipped their heads in unison, turning to face each other before getting into their ready stance. Rain’s green eyes flashed with nerves, this was not her strong suit. This was most definitely Rae’s area, and she had to admit that Rae seemed a lot more ready than Rain felt. This was not going to be easy. They waited for Sunheart to tell them when to start. Once signaled to start, Rae did not hesitate, as expected by Rain. Raven leapt to pounce on Rain, a straight-on attack, just her style. Rain found it predictable, turned with her hindlegs in the air. Catching Raven in her ribs.

Ravenpaw grunted as the impact sent her to the side, but she rolled with the momentum before launching herself at Rainpaw's side this time. Rainpaw momentarily panicked when Ravenpaw latched onto her long fur with sheathed paws and wrestled her to the ground. Ravenpaw tried to pin Rainpaw, grabbing her scruff from the side of her neck - firm but not hard enough to draw blood. But Rainpaw was not ready to give up. Rainpaw battered Ravenpaw's belly with sheathed hindpaws before bringing her legs in and then kicking out with her hindlegs. Forcefully pushing Ravenpaw up before rolling back onto her paws.

Because Ravenpaw was not expecting it, Rainpaw lost a bit of fur off her neck. But after spitting out the long white-and-black fur, Ravenpaw gave Rainpaw an apologetic look and Rainpaw understood it wasn't on purpose. How it could be? It's not like she expected Rainpaw to be able to fight and defend herself. Rainpaw launched the attack this time, barreling into her sister to knock her onto her back in an attempt to pin her. Ravenpaw let her body relax, but Rainpaw knew this trick so she only increased the pressure slightly. But then, Ravenpaw's bdoy felt limp. And Rainpaw instinctively loosened her grip, momentarily horrified that she may have actually hurt her sister.

That was when Ravenpaw struck. Kicking out with her hindlegs with force, hitting Rainpaw just below her ribcage. The force sent Rainpaw flying backwards. With a grunt, Rainpaw landed on her side, and before she could get to her paws she felt pressure on her tail and around her neck. Looking up from the side, Rainpaw saw that Ravenpaw had her successfully pinned. The green-eyed twin struggled, unsuccessfully, to regain her paws. But there was a hardness and determination in Ravenpaw's eyes...this was an assessment. Ravenpaw would not go easy on her twin. And Rainpaw knew in this moment that she was defeated.

The deputy lay upon a log as the twins tussled, only interrupting to give a small hiss of reprimand when Ravenpaw pulled out some tufts of Rainpaw's fur. However, he did pick up on the fact that it was an accident, so he didn't say or do much else about it.

Huh, it a surprising turn of events, it appeared Rainpaw was winning. Not that Sunheart found her incapable of such, but Ravenpaw had a stronger build. Ah, he spoke too soon. In the end, the victor was Ravenpaw. After the she-cat had pinned her sister, the tom stepped up to the pair, signaling Ravenpaw with his tail to step off. "Fantastic fighting, you two." He praised, giving each of them a warm look. "If I were an enemy, I would not want to fight the two of you together on the battlefield." He mewed, half-jokingly.

"Now. My turn."

Dropping into a battle crouch, the deputy lashed his tail, a mischievous glint in his pale green eyes. "One at a time- mind you."

Huffing just slightly, Rainpaw exchanged an amused look with Rae at the deputy's joke. Honestly, she wouldn't either. The twins seemed to be able to be too in sync with each other sometimes. At the deputy's challenge, Rainpaw exchanged a glance with Ravenpaw and both sisters dropped into their combat crouch. This was intentional, so Sunheart wouldn't be able to guess which one was coming at him first. Ravenpaw and Rainpaw both looked equally ready to pounce...but ultimately it was Rainpaw that lunged towards the deputy first. Not to pounce, but coming up beside him, shoving her shoulder against his flank and swiping at his paws in an attempt to knock him over.

Sunheart blinked in surprise as both the twins dropped into a crouch. They were so in sync. "Hey, I said one at a t-" Before he could finish speaking, the tom was nearly knocked off of his paws. Thankfully, due to his bigger size, he managed to hold fast, but only barely. The deputy staggered a bit, looking perplexed before a gleam of interest lit his eyes. She wasn't strong, no, but fast as he was. Should would make a formidable opponent.

Regaining himself, Sunheart found his footing and and reared up on his hind legs, aiming to crash down (somewhat softly, of course) on Rainpaw and use his greater weight to pin her to the ground.

Rainpaw's whiskers twitched with amusement, and she caught a flash of Rae that showed her that her's were as well. Their little feint worked well! Although she didn't have the brute force necessary to knock Sunheart down, she did cause him to lose balance and stagger. Rainpaw leapt back just in case, the subtleties in the deputy's movements warning enough that he was about to try striking back if it wasn't a common sense enough of a move. But she wasn't expecting him to rear up fully, that extended his reach. With a softly hissed tch, Rainpaw dove for the side, diving into a roll and bringing herself back up on her four paws at his flank.

Seems that she lacked in brute strength, she made up for with intellect and speed. This was good to know. Hopefully, before he could react, she lifted up onto her hindlegs to grab his flank with her forepaws, trying to grip his fur and grab his tail with her teeth.

Grunting as his paws met solid ground, Sunheart whipped around, fixing Rainpaw with narrowed eyes. "Good." He mewed, eyes glinting with pride. Yes, RiverClan would have more warriors to be proud of. Seeing as she was now at his flank, the tom shifted slightly and shoved at her with his shoulder, aiming to knock her off balance.

Rainpaw's ear twitched in acknowledgement of the praise, but her grip did not loosen. She only let go when Sunheart's shoulder came towards her, leaping back nimbly before quickly shifting her weight and pouncing, trying to land on the deputy's back. Heavy weight or not, if she could somehow pin him down then this would be over!

The tom staggered as his weight shifted into nothing, not to mention the weight of Rainpaw landing on his back. Legs buckling underneath him, he hit the ground with a huff, letting his body go limp.

"Good work, Rainpaw. You've passed this part of the assessment." He mewed, rolling out from under her. "Ravenpaw- your turn." He fixed the other she-cat with an expectant, pale green stare.

Rainpaw beamed with a purr, stepping off the tom. But with a quick glance up, the black-and-white she-cat moved away quickly. Deciding she did not want to get caught up in the middle of this. "Good luck!" She called over her shoulder. But was it to her sister? Or to Sunheart? Only her and StarClan knew.

What was Rainpaw avoiding? Well, Ravenpaw didn't wait for a formal invitation. As Sunheart was talking, the mostly black she-cat was already rushing at him, no battle cry. No announcement of her presence. Just barreling straight into the fight, planning on using her superior size (at least in comparison to her sister that is) to her advantage. Right now, he was still used to fighting her leaned, quicker sister. She was hoping she could catch him off guard.
