sparrowfur watched the new warrior walk through the warrior den, dragging his nest behind him. she tilted her head curiously at him. he was sweet looking, still something of a small cat, sparrowfur assumed he just still had yet to grow into his full size. he certainly was a colorful little guy, though she had never really talked to him. she didnt much talk to the other apprentices, but she could vaguely recall him from when she was an apprentice.
a new warrior huh? i oughta introduce myself!
she trotted over behind him, hm.. he didnt seem to be very observant at the moment. the cleared her throat once, then again when he seemed not to hear her. she chuckled and grabbed his nest.
"need some help?" she purred, her two-toned eyes seeming to sparkle

He wasn't the largest of cats, nor was he the smallest. Average, that had summed up his life nicely enough. Tied up nicely, bookended from kit to warrior without a single thing going amiss. Names that had never made it to the forefront of his mind, events that were standardized across all Clanborn cats: birth, apprenticeship under a nameless face he again couldn't place, an assessment he passed within days of this moment of dragging his nest to the warrior den. Cats he felt he was supposed to recognize, lived alongside his entire life but barely, truly, remembered. As if faces didn't do it for him.
Spottedfire's neck fur stood at attention when his ear flicked and he saw a warrior! His bicolored eyes looked at her with a moment of worry before remembering he'd done nothing wrong. He'd never had a paw out of line.
Oh, um - yeah. Is there an... empty spot, somewhere? he asked, shuffling his weight from one paw to another.

sparrowfur smiled sweetly "of course! right over here," she flicked her nose over to the blank space. "not too far from my nest! she purred.
she gently helped the tom place his nest and get himself all situated, she chuckled lightly at his nervousness. she could hardly contain her excitement when she first got her warrior name a few moons ago. poor thing, probably scared out of his little mind. her eyes met his.
"im sparrowfur by the way!" she beamed "i like your eyes."

"I'm Spottedfire, but I suppose you probably already know that," he ruffled up the bedding he'd brought with him. It still smelled like the apprentice den, and he supposed the only way for it to smell like warriors was for him to start being a warrior.
But her eyes... looked really similar to his eyes. "You like them? No-cat's ever... really said that before," the tom thought it was the fact he didn't do enough to get his eyes noticed, focused mainly on just... getting to this point. A goal to achieve, and now that he'd done so, he didn't quite know what he was going to do.
He decided he liked being a cat no one really paid much mind to. Means no one really expected much from him.
"Your eyes are pretty, too. Hey - are we like... nest neighbors?" The thought made him excited, and the question ended in a much higher tone than it started, a purr edging at his throat.

sparrowfur purred in reply to the complement, she always liked them. thought they made her unique on top of her bubbly personality. she was almost immediately fond of other cats with a similar uniqueness to them.
"we are!" she grinned "if you ever feel like asking questions, i dont bite.. for the most part." she teased.
she tried to place him in her memory, feeling guilty she couldnt beforehand. surely she had seen him around before? once she came up blank she decided she would do her best to be extra friendly, to insure that spottedfire had a smooth transition from apprentice to warrior. she sat in her own nest nearby, still facing spottedfire.
"are you excited about being a warrior? i remember i could hardly sleep my first couple of nights." she chuckled at herself "listen to me, reminiscing like im an elder. ive only been a warrior for.. lets see, four moons now? something like that, im not great at keeping track."

'It's... a bit nerve-wracking, if I'm being honest. Now the Clan'll be looking at me more and I'll have to pull my weight more than they already have." his fur grew hot with embarrassment. Not being a cat the older warriors worried about had its advantages, namely in being able to laze around a little bit and do more or less what he wanted after his duties for the day were finished. The calico was something of a wanderer at heart, wanting to scout more than he wanted to hunt. See what lay beyond the paths his mentor took him.
If only he remembered who that cat was. Was his own life that forgettable?
It's exciting, though! To walk among them and not beside them. That's really cool."

sparrowfur felt another purr rise in her throat. she decided she liked this one. his nervousness was not unexpected but sparrowfur still felt some sympathy towards him. she hoped spottedfire would settle in nicely.
sweet little fella she thought fondly, oh there i go again, acting like im halfway up on silverpelt.
"i agree! the responsibility is scary at first but the freedom is all worth it. have you had a chance to walk around by yourself yet?"

"No. I haven't. I just... finished my nap after my vigil... I haven't had time yet. Do you wanna come? I think everything I've learned about the territory since I passed my assessment burrowed under my brain." memorization, his old friend, for sure.
But he decided he liked this Sparrowfur. She seemed nice and bubbly and the kind of cat he wanted around. Maybe they could go explore the territory some more! Oh wait, she was older than him, she likely was much more interested in being a warrior.
And she probably had more friends to keep track of.

sparrowfur popped up, grinning widely. oh now she really liked him, a wandering spirit? theyd surely get along now. he almost reminded sparrowfur of herself, the small glint of adventure in his eyes.. something sparrowfur felt like she was known for.
"id love to! any excuse to get out of this cramped camp." she joked, making her way to the entrance of the den. "you coming?"

Spottedfire purred in surprise, the pupils of his eyes enlarging for a second with excitement. Yes, yes, he was excited now, definitely! What wasn't there to love about this interaction? Sparrowfur was so, undoubtedly, awesome in the young tom's mind.
"Let's go! Maybe it'll jog my memory!" he chuckled, padding off and out of the warrior's den.
And not a few heartbeats later he poked his head at the entrance. "Um... which way is the entrance again?" his fur felt very hot as he winced subtly after the question was asked.
