With a new "rank" so to speak, came new responsibilities. One of those responsibilities happened to be carrying out battle assessments for the apprentices to check their viability to become a warrior. Poking his head into the apprentice's den, Darkfall found the specific cat that he was looking for on this occasion. Starrypaw had been an apprentice for quite some time now, and belonged to the group of older apprentices, and he wanted to get a good idea of how far she was coming along in her training. "Starrypaw, come with me, I want to see how far you've been coming along in your training," he called to the long-haired she-cat.
[ @Orchid I'm so sorry this is so late! (and shorts, whoops)]

Starrypaw didn't need to be told twice. The black and white apprentice hopped to her paws and bounded after the newest enforcer, her steps light and silent. Whereas her featherlight paws made no noise, her mouth made up for. "Hiya Mister! Mister Darkfall! Yuppers, I know your name! Surprise, tada!!" A gleeful grin spread across her face as she hopped after the enforcer.
"I know you're an enforcer, just like my mentor Sir Bits, but Bitzer is the bestest enforcer ever, you see! Even more bester than you!" She paused, frowning a moment. "I mean, I s'pose you're all cool and stuff too, but Bitzer.. Hawkbite.. is just... cooler, y'know? So, whatcha wanna do? Are we practicing stuff?" The monochrome feline offered Darkfall a lopsided grin. She was tall for her age, with long limbs and overgrown fur, but probably still reached nowhere near the enforcer's height. Who knew?

Darkfall blinked at the apprentice’s enthusiastic greeting. Why was it that he always seemed to attract the… interesting apprentices? Also, what was up with her walking so silently? It was unnerving. Perhaps that was an advantage to being shorter? Well, now that he looked at her, she wasn’t too short – she seemed to be about the normal size for an apprentice her age, a bit taller actually. She was still shorter than him though, a decent bit so, so he couldn’t rule out height being a possibility. Hmm… He’d give that some thought later.
When Starrypaw continued to talk, it didn’t get any better. The black and white apprentice was talking quickly, and a lot . Who was Sir Bits? And Bitser? Were they the same cat? And how could she say that they were the best enforcer when he’d barely had his job for a moon? He didn’t yet have the opportunity to show off his amazingness.
Hawkbite? Hawkbite??? Darkfall blinked at the apprentice questioningly. One; what was that nickname for his fellow enforcer? And two; how was Hawkbite cooler than him? Was it because he had been an enforcer longer? Ugh. ”Well, Starrypaw that’s all well and good, but I will be assessing your battle skills today, so c’mon.” He said, flicking his tail as he made his way out into the territory.
[ @Orchid I’M SO SORRY if you nee dme to make this longer or anything send me a vm. Just didn’t want to keep you waiting any longer ]

Starrypaw bounced after Darkfall with a wide, happy grin on her face. Really, she didn't even falter when the enforcer told her that he was taking her assessment. In fact, if possible, her smile grew even broader with glee. "Oh?!?" She asked, stumbling after the dark-furred tom on long limbs. Except, despite her haphazard movements, she still made barely a sound on the forest floor, a gleaming cheshire grin pasted on her face. "Sir Bits taught me the bestest moves ever! In an event, yknow? I practiced it all with Mossy- er, Silverlark!"

The apprentice’s grin was infectious, and Darkfall couldn’t help the one that made its way onto his own face. ”Well, we’re going to have to see how well you can do those moves then, won’t we?” He asked with a hint of mischief carried in his words. He already decided that he wouldn’t be going all out in this assessment so that he wouldn’t cause the apprentice any long-lasting harm, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t challenge her a little bit. ”Now c’mon, let’s get going!”
The large enforcer led the apprentice out of the camp and to the training cliffs. When they did finally get there, the tom walked a few paces in front of her and then turned around. ”Alright, Starrypaw. I’m going to make this very simple,” He said, waving his tail with dramatic flair ”You’re going to be attacking me, claws unsheathed to attack me. I will be free to counter or attack as I see fit, and we will be continuing until I am satisfied with your progress or am left disappointed.” After explaining the rules of their bout, he backed up a few more steps and then lowered himself into a defensive crouch before instructing ”Come at me when you are ready.”
[ @Rose No need to apologize! I wasn’t quite sure if I should just skip to them starting or not I apologize for having taken so long to get a reply out. This one is also kind of poopy, ignore that]

"Yeah!" See here, Starrypaw was very very excited. She wanted to be a warrior too, no? Like Dogskull, and Silverlark, and Shad-- Wait, Shadeer hadn't been made a warrior yet ... hm. Skipping happily after Darkfall, the younger feline found herself grinning all the way to Training Cliffs.
"I can't wait to be a warrior!" She declared giddily, puffing out her chest as she halted, beaming brightly up at the recently named Enforcer. She was supposed to attack him? Yippee! ...Wait... no, attacking a clanmate probably wasn't something to be hyper about. "Claws unsheathed!" She repeated with a gasp, and then dutifully drew out her claws as if she had already gotten over her brief moment of shock.
Aha! She was meant to attack him now! Right? Face scrunching up for a moment in thought, the black and white apprentice paused a moment, and then lunged forward. She was tall for her age, but Darkfall was still taller, so trying to aim for the top of his head like Hawkbite had instructed would be a no-no. That was okay, because she could do this instead!
Twisting to the side and jumping out of the enforcer's path, the messy-furred female attempted to rake her claws across his flank. She didn't stop there -- nope. Whether that worked or not, the feathery-tailed apprentice skirted sideways again and tried to snap her fangs shut around Darkfall's tail and yank. Who knew if her teeth snapped on empty air? Eh.

Darkfall watched the young cat’s movements with interest, waiting to see what kind of move she’d pull on him. A frontal attack? That was definitely an odd one considering the size difference between the two, but surely Starrypaw had something else in mind, no?
Thankfully, she didn’t disappoint him off the bat. She jumped to his side in an attempt to rake her claws against his flank, which he deftly avoided. It was just so… obvious. Painfully obvious really. When one has a disadvantage in size, the only real option they had was to attempt to overwhelm their opponent with speed and feints. Don’t get him wrong, though. Although he was a bit overcritical, it was a well-thought-out move that had good execution, he just was prepared for it.
He, however, was not prepared for the bite that found itself placed into the tip of his tail. Okay, well, that kinda hurt. A low growl budding within his throat, he turned back to where the lanky apprentice was pulling on him and swiped out with a sheathed right paw. He didn’t want to do anything to harm her, so he just aimed to put enough power behind it to knock her back. Should the attack either land or cause her to release him, he’d follow up with another blow from his left paw with a similar amount of force behind it.
’Let’s see how you handle this!’
[ @Rose going forward, posts will be out much faster]

Grinning with absolute glee as she managed to catch a hold of Darkfalls tail and yank, Starrypaw nearly choked on a laugh as she tried to keep it in. Aha! He was growling at her, and it was kinda funn--
GREAT SNAKES!
Ducking out of the way and nearly giving herself whiplash because she forgot to unclasp her fangs from around his tail for a moment, the younger feline let out a yip of alarm as she spun out of the way. Okay, so, maybe fight now and giggle later. Yep, yep, she'd rather not get smacked in the face with an Enforcer paw. Did one get bragging rights for being hit by an enforcer? Uhm... probably not. It was safer not to test it.
Green hues catching onto the slight movement of his left paw, Starrypaw leaped back and away from it to put distance between herself and the dark-furred tom. How uncool would it be to faint if she got hit in the head? Very. Instead, the black and white apprentice attempted to jerk forward, claws aiming for either the enforcer's exposed side or underbelly, and then whether her mark had landed or not, to backpedal away again.

Darkfall frowned to himself a bit when Starrypaw ducked under both of his paws, sure, he didn’t swing as hard as he could’ve, but that still should’ve hit. Right? That was a bit frustrating… Perhaps he was getting a bit slow (that meant he’d torture himself with some more personal training later on). Narrowing his eyes slightly, he jerked himself out of the apprentice’s way – not before he felt a slight tug at his skin. It was a light scratch, but still stung a bit nonetheless. She was a bit quick for her age, no? Good battle sense by going for his exposed side and then backing away after attacking. Well… He’d see how she handled this!
Unwilling to allow the she-cat time to recover, the large tabby pushed forward as she backed away. He’d use that move. Quickly, he reached out with his right paw for her legs as he neared before quickly snapping it back and bringing his left paw forward in an attempt to hit her shoulder and knock her off balance. If she had any sense, she’d try to avoid the move, or take it and roll with it – however, if not, he feared she may get whacked in the head and he feared accidentally knocking her unconscious. A slight msile rising to his lips, he couldn’t wait to see how she’d deal with this one.
[ @Rose One or two more exchanges mayhaps and then we can finish this?]
