Roseheart sighed as she stretched as she stepped out of the warriors den. She was feeling oh so generous today, yes, so when she spotted some apprentice padding along she called to him, “You, would you like to do some training with me?”

Morningpaw wasn’t in the best mood to be entirely honest. He had decided to try and get himself up earlier than he usually did but now he wanted to actually kill someone. When that someone decided that she was going to yell her squeaky as hell voice in his ear Morningpaw about turned around and met claws with their fur. Though he turned with a glare at the warrior that was approaching him. Some Molly that he didn’t know nor care to know the name of. Some nobody and by first impression seems to be a waste of space to be entirely frank with you.

“What.” The apprentice bit back at the other. Less of a question and more of a warning to back the hell off before his claws and teeth did more talking than tongue. Morningpaw wouldn’t put it past this cat to entirely miss his hostility though. She seemed to be the ignorant type based on the way she carried herself and her demanding type voice. It reminded Morningpaw of some kittypets he met while lost. All posh stuck ups. Didn’t realize there were some in his clan. Great.

The molly sighed, why was it that apprentices just didn’t listen as they should. “I said training! Take your pick! I can help with anything!”

Morningpaw rolled his eyes as hard as he could. Not like he needed help from someone like this he wasn’t in a position to say no. Maybe he would be if he hadn’t gotten lost and then missed 2 full moons of training time and now he was at risk of losing what little family he had left. The apprentice finally relented his glare and sighed. “Can we go out on some mock patrols? The borders?” Also a good way to figure out what the borders even looked like because he’s never actually been to them before. Oops. The apprentice stared at the other feline as he waited impatiently for her reply. Tail twitching with a slight frown still ever tugging on his muzzle.

Roseheart almost took back her offer! Why patrols? She hated patrols but at least it wasn’t an herb patrol where she’d have to dig around in the dirt. “Alright, follow me.

Morningpaw didn’t mind the straightforwardness and expected the Molly to take about a million more season cycles to actually get to that but any cat with half a brain wouldn’t fight against the suddenness. Morningpaw wanted to be out more than he is in! That’s for sure! Being out in the territory means he’s being less of a waste of space than he normally is. Which is great! Grand even! The apprentice padded after the warrior as they made their way out into the early-ish (very early for Morningpaw) air and started towards what Morningpaw is assuming is the first border they will visit. Great!

Roseheart trotted through the territory towards the small pines first. Honestly one of the safest borders given the recent fight that drove Riverclan completely out from their territory. What losers.

After some time of silence and like no explanation of where exactly they were going or even what he was supposed to do on a border patrol which, you know, is the point of this outing. The bi-colored apprentice walked alongside the warrior for a few moments more before he finally opened his mouth to speak to the tri-colored feline. “So where exactly are we going? Also what do I do on a border patrol?” Double ew. Initiating social interaction. The things he did for his clan were honestly insane. He was probably doing more than most warriors right now. He sure felt like it that was for sure.

Roseheart looked over a bit startled, oh right, teaching a new apprentice. This wasn’t an actual patrol. “Right, well, we are heading to the small pines. It’s the border we share with Riverclan. Or did. I’ll explain border checking when we get there.”

Morningpaw took the information and found himself a bit disappointed that she didn’t continue with anything else. Alsooooo did???? What happened between Thunderclan and Riverclan while he was gone? He remembered there being a raid on Riverclan that was a win for Thunderclan of course but what in starclan’s name does did mean right now. Though he couldn’t just ask?? That would mean another person who knows about Morningpaw’s absence. He’s noticed that not a lot of people actually knew he had been missing for awhile there. Though knowing something like whatever happened between Riverclan and his own clan is more important than his pride. “What the hell happened between Riverclan and Thunderclan for us to not share a border anymore? That doesn’t just happen!”
