Blackmist was padding towards the new border, his paws seeming to know where to go while Blackmist was inside his head, preoccupied. Without realizing, he was almost about to cross the border. He stopped his paws inches away from the borderline. It seemed that his paws still didn't know that there was a new border in place. He stared towards Shadowclan territory, his golden eyes unfocused. He wasn't there mentally.

Batsong padded out of the bushes, having taken a break from the suffocating prison he calls his Clan. Noticing the tom, he narrowed his own amber eyes at him. Sniffing, he recognized the WindClan cat. Not a very good sign.
"Excuse me, are you here on patrol? You're lucky I won't report you. You haven't crossed the border after all."
His tail lashed behind him as he stared at the tom. He wasn't mad, nor sad, nor happy. He was just asking.

Blackmist snapped out of his thoughts and his golden eyes locked with the other cat's amber ones. Blackmist took a sniff and confirmed his thoughts. Shadowclan. He unsheathed his claws. He was a peace loving cat but he had been taught in the recent moons that Shadowclan was no joke. Blackmist took his time to respond, analyzing the cat. The Shadowclan cat looked a bit like him, just without the white chest and the golden eyes replaced with the amber eyes.

Blackmist finished looking at the cat and he opened his mouth to reply. "I'm not on a patrol. I just came here to look at the land you guys stole from us" He meowed, his voice soft and not that loud.

Batsong licked his paws and thought for a moment before sitting up again.
"What's your name? Who sent you anyway? Patrols would have more than one cat alone."

Blackmist sighed in impatience. Hadn't he said already that he wasn't on patrol? He had said it very clearly that he was only on a stroll. "I already told you. I didn't come on patrol. I only came on a nice stroll over here." He meowed. He chose to ignore the first question. This cat didn't need to know. "What about you? Did you come on a patrol?"

Batsong's ear flicked a bit and he looks at the tom.
"Forgive me, my mind is a bit clouded today. No, I'm not with a patrol. I came here on my own and scented you and I saw you were not paying attention so I went to stop you before you crossed the border."

Blackmist looked at the cat as they talked. It seemed that he had a reasonable answer. Blackmist was annoyed at the cat's last part. He had clearly not been paying attention. Blackmist had stopped just in time before crossing the border and he had been daydreaming. "I wasn't just going to cross the border. I stopped myself before I crossed. I was daydreaming when you got here. Clearly Shadowclan cats don't use their eyes very well." He meowed. Sure, he wasn't a fan of the rivalries but it wouldn't hurt to throw an insult or two in there.

Batsong licked his paws casually, he wasn't the least bit bothered. He just purred and turned his sharp gaze back to the tom.
"Well doesn't seem like WindClan cats use their brains or have you lost them while chasing after rabbits? Any reasonable warrior would know not to daydream and keep his guard down."

Blackmist hissed at the cat and started muttering under his breath, occasionally "fox dung" and "crow food" audible. He finished muttering and looked at the tom again. "Are you sure you're actually a cat? You and your lot smell more like crow-food than cats." He meowed.

"So you say, rabbit face. I'm not here to exchange insults anyway. You still haven't told me your name. I have no means of attacking you, you've caught my interest. I've never met a warrior so lost his his own rabbit chasing mind to look like a ghost."
