Entanglement of Reeds and Kestrels
@ spade
Reedpaw sighed, laying by Cattail Pond, content with watching the fishies swim by. He was confused, to put it lightly. Not only had he been switched mentors for some reason, but now there was tension between RiverClan and ThunderClan, both Clans had new high ranks, and in RiverClan, a lot of cats seemed at odds at each other! At this point, Reedpaw wanted to take a nap and forget all about these things, but he couldn't. He was going to become a warrior soon, after all. He was sure of it!
But he wanted some space to think. So, he came to the one place Gentlefoot had taught him to swim and took him to see first out of camp, and where Blizzardstorm had taught him how to look for shells and hunt: Cattail Pond. It was pretty and quiet, and no one was around to bother him! So, he just lay in between the vegetation that shared his name and watched the water, hoping his thoughts would calm soon.

Re: Entanglement of Reeds and Kestrels
Time always seemed to escape Kestrelstar's grasp, never allowing him a moment to breathe freely and think clearly. His position garnered a majority of his attention, laser focusing it on the rampant issues his Clanmates faced. Holding a closed den policy was a recurring thought that grew more and more tempting with each day that slid past; perhaps then he wouldn't have to deal with sniveling kits or whiny warriors.
But such was the life of a leader, he assumed, to be the universal punching bag for those who co-habited with him in camp. Not that the realization made it hurt any less, though.
Moments like this, when Kestrelstar could relax as his mission to slip out of camp had been a success, were rare. The leader didn't question them anymore, or hesitate at the entrance to verify that he had, in fact, left unnoticed. That only caused the opposite to happen - now he sprang from the front of RiverClan camp, bounding past the entanglement of reeds and scraggly bushes into a more peaceful setting. One where he and his thoughts could roam freely without fear of judgement or interruption.
It appeared though, this time, Kestrelstar wasn't alone.
Slowing his pace down to a walk, the scent of another wafted to his nose, alerting him to the presence of Reedpaw. Kestrelstar didn't have much experience when it came to this particular apprentice, and couldn't help but laugh at the irony the forest seemed to have. Think about being alone, and he would never get it.
"Reedpaw," the leader spoke as he revealed himself through a parting of the reeds, coming to stand a few tail-lengths away from the tom near the edge of the pond. "What are you doing out of camp alone?"

Uh-oh. That was the voice of the one cat Reedpaw wasn't eager to interact with at all times, especially with all the tension now. With an embarrassing high squeak he tumbled into the reeds in the pond with a splash, his dark gray tabby fur soaked and looking like some sort of drenched rat. Instead of standing up he decided to pretend to blend into the reeds, futile as it was, to hide from sight. His blue eyes darted about : was he in trouble? Maybe. What did he do? Was it about him being switched to another mentor for some reason? Maybe? Oh, what did he do?!
