Being back in Riverclan was a bit odd, even he had to admit. Even more odd being in the nursery. He hadn’t really stepped foot in here since he was a kit, when his mom was still doting on him. When his mom was
here… Dapplewing was a warrior, sure, with a soft spot for the kiddos, but he never thought that he’d every really have any
business being in here ever again. But, alas, here he was, staying in the nursery with the two kits who certainly weren’t big fans of him right now. Still, he was responsible for their well-being, whether or not they wanted to accept or appreciate his attempts at doing that.
Technically, he was sharing a nest with the youngsters, but he didn’t want to invade their personal space, so he opted for sleeping just outside of the nest, laying just outside of the circle of moss like a big wall of fur.
“I’d bet you guys are thinkin’, man, this place is weird, huh?” Dapplewing spoke out suddenly from where he lay with his head on his paws.
Bet everyone else an’ their ma is thinkin’ the same thing with me being in here. “It’ll take some getting used to, I’m sure, but it ain’t all that bad here… If you’ve got any questions about how things work ‘round here, I’d be more than happy to tell ya.”
It was a feeble attempt at connecting with them, obviously. He wanted to give them a sense of companionship with him–again, whether or not they’d actually want to was out of his power, but.. He could try.
