It was quiet. Too quiet. Crowkit opened his eyes and looked around. Mama was asleep, or so he thought, but Cardinalkit wasn't in the nest. Oh, no no no no... The little black tom looked around with his blue and yellow eyes, trying to figure out where his sneaky sister was this early in the morning.

Don't wake mama... He thought to himself as he slipped out of the nest. They weren't supposed to go anywhere without mama, but Crowkit knew that Cardinalkit would get really upset if she got in trouble, so he needed to find her. Little black hairs bristled, he started searching the tunnel nursery.

Oh, but she was so sneaky! Cardinalkit clumsily slunk through the tunnel, hiding in a small nook and waiting for her brother, who always fell for this one. She wiggled her butt and narrowed her green eyes, waiting for the little shadow to pounce.

"Boo!" Cardinalkit roared as she leaped out of her hiding spot... but, wait, that wasn't Crowkit. She clumsily redirected her pounce and rolled head over paws into the dirt.

Despite not being the one who was pounced on, Crowkit jumped at the sound of his sister's shout. The little tom's eyes followed his sister leaping out at the wrong kit before tumbling into the ground. Oh, no! Did she get hurt? "Cardinalkit!" He called as he scampered over to her side.

Myrtlekit's ears flew up in alarm as she saw a smaller kit jumping towards her. Her paws rose up in defense, and she felt her paws skim the kit as it tumbled to the ground. The she-kit took a second to catch her breath, than went to check on the other kit. She saw another kit that looked like the first one, and she kept a small distance. Hi... She mewed, offering a smile. Are you alright? She asked, touching the kit's forehead with her nose.

"I'm fine!" Cardinalkit quickly sat up, shaking out the dust that now covered her black and red pelt. She looked over the ginger kit. "I'm Cardinalkit, by the way, and this is my brother, Crowkit. He was the one I was trying to scare until you showed up. It's okay, though, I forgive you. Do you want to play?" She asked the new kit she hadn't met before.

Crowkit watched his sister for a moment, not sure what he was supposed to do. Usually, after she scared him, she would agree to go back to mama with him, but... now it looked like Cardinalkit had no intent to get back to their nest. His wide eyes went between Cardinalkit and the ginger kit in front of her. Oh, no, what was next?

Myrtlekit shifted uncomfortably. It wasn't her fault the kit had jumped out of nowhere! She opened her mouth to speak, but thought better of it. Sorry. She muttered, flicking her tail crossly. What are we playing? The large she-kit asked, tilting her head.

Crowkit looked between the two she-cats. He wanted to tell Cardinalkit that they should get back to the nest before mama woke up, but what if this new kit got upset if they didn't play a game now that Cardinalkit had brought it up? Then he would feel bad, and that would also be mean. Crowkit didn't like it when others told him they would do something and then they didn't... okay, one game couldn't hurt, right?

"Oooooh, we should play hunting! Right Crow?" Cardinalkit looked at her brother, then back to the new kit. "Me and you can race each other to catch my brother, then whoever loses has to be prey in the next round!" She proclaimed. It was always a fun game! Though, Cardinalkit had never played this competition version. She usually just chased Crowkit around, and he loved it too!

"Oh..." Well, Crowkit wasn't going to say no, but he really hated being chased around... maybe in this version, he'd get a chance to chase someone else around for a change. That'd be fun, right? He looked over at the ginger kit, wondering if she would be playing or not.

Myrtlekit's tail lifted slightly. Well... Okay. She murmured, shooting an anxious glance at Crowkit. If he wants to play. She added, not wanting to make the small tom-kit feel uncomfortable.

"Of course he wants to play!" Cardinalkit claimed, turning to her brother with a grin and crouching down as though about to pounce. "Right, Crowkit?"

Uh-oh. Crowkit backed away from his sister, not wanting to get pounced on, shaking his head. "I d-don't wanna be ch-chased...!" He squeaked, shrinking down into the ground as though he could just melt into the earth. It was always scary to get chased, even if he knew it was his sister.

Cardinalkit sat back up at the ginger kit's... words? It was one word, she supposed. Sounds was more like it. "Okay, well, since he wants to be boring... what do you want to play?" She asked, ears perked.

Crowkit looked down at his paws. He was both relieved and frustrated, but he shook it off and looked over at the newest member of their little play group. Maybe she would pick something more reasonable... that didn't involve him getting chased.
