It was time.. oh my stars it was finally time. She was about to assess her sister, then they could FINALLY share a den again. Beechray was so so so very excited to be have Sagepaw in the warriors' den. She leaped out of her nest before exiting the den. She squinted about the bright light, she'd slept in later than she'd meant to but oh well- She figured she was working pretty hard right now.

Her gaze scanned the camp, she didn't immediately see her sister so made her way to the apprentice den. It was possible that Beech had just missed her but it didn't matter she was on a mission to find her.

"Hey! Sagepaw! It's time for your assessment, where are you?" She called out, looking around the apprentice den for any golden-furred movement within.

I'm here! Sagepaw called, her voice lit with excitement. She gulped down a small mouse from the prey pile and rushed to her sister's side. I'm going to be a warrior, like you! She exclaimed, her eyes glowing with determination. She would pass.

"Sage!" She exclaimed, shooting off in her sister's direction. She gave her sister's chest an affectionate headbutt before stepping back "I can't wait! You wanna have a snack before? or just head on out?" She asked, tilting her head curiously.

"Also wanna do combat or hunting first?" Beechray asked tilting her head curiously.

Hunting! Come'on, let's go! Sagepaw exclaimed, sprinting forward and taking the lead.

"Sounds good! We'll head out to the firefly cove! It's pretty prey abundant there!" she said with a giggle, taking off after her sister.

After a bit of running Beech slowed, hoping her sister wouldn't notice. She slipped into the bushes, watching Sagepaw closely as they ran alongside each other. Beechray silently climbed up a tree, leaping from branch to branch to keep an eye on her sister as she hunted.

Sagepaw sucked in a breath, taking off. Hunting. She perked her ears as she heard a rustle in the bushes, and picked up a scent of mouse. She crouched down, slowly moving closer to the smell. [ rolls a 1 ]. But the mouse heard her. She had no idea how, but it did. As it scrambled back into its den, the she-cat sighed, narrowing her eyes as she smelled more mice. The smell was coming from the same area. [ rolls a 5 & 2 & 13 & 12 ]. She crouched down and saw the first one. She was too slow, and it quickly made its way to its nest, the second one following after it. But the next one, she made sure she was ready. She nipped it from the ground with her jaws, and slammed her paw down on the one following after it. Two mice already! But it was two mice out of five attempts. That wasn't good. She smelled a robin, then decided to try for that. [ rolls a 1 ]. As soon as she crouched down, the bird flew into a tall birch tree. She decided not to go after it, as it would probably waste time. A scent touched her nose, and this time, it was squirrel. That was her favorite. [ rolls a 12 ]. Leaping forward, the squirrel didn't see her coming. She bit down on its spine, and noticed that the sky was beginning to darken. She had to get back soon, but she only had three pieces of prey. It wasn't enough. She picked up the trace of a sparrow, and tracked it down. [ rolls a 19 ]. Pouncing at it, Sagepaw managed to grab hold of the bird. She neatly bit its neck, killing it. Done. She picked up her two mice, squirrel, and sparrow, and carried it back to where she was supposed to meet with Beechray.

Beechray watched from the tree tops, each failed catch making her question her ability to train cats. Stars... maybe it was just a bad day for prey... but her sister eventually caught a good amount of prey. When Sage went to turn back Beech raced ahead, skidding to a halt where they had agreed to meet.

Though visible out of breath, she acted as if she'd just been sitting there "Hey! Great-" She wheezed "Great catches Sagey! I'm so proud of you!" She said, pushing herself to her paws before leaning forward to headbutt her sister's shoulder "Ready for the combat part of your assessment?" Beech asked with a grin.

Sagepaw nodded, smiling. I'm so gonna beat you. She teased, crouching down and narrowing her eyes playfully. And I'm gonna pass. She added thoughtfully, but with a giggle.
