Wispy's Ambush [p]
[Hawkbite]
Enforcer Commander
Shadow Fiend | Agatha Kitty | Kitty Softpaws
The Commander had agreed to teach Wispypaw some ambush tactics. He could do that. He personally hadn't taught many ambush lessons, but that didn't mean he couldn't try his hardest. So, he padded up to the Apprentices' Den and sat down. "Wispypaw!" he'd call into the dark entrance, summoning them. "It's time for your ambush training, I'll be by the camp entrance," Hawkbite finished, padding towards the entrance as he promised. He'd wait for Wispypaw to make their appearance as he contemplated how many of the -ark children he'd trained so far. Nearly half of them by now. Well, half the remaining ones. Maybe all of them? Honestly, he didn't know. Hawkbite couldn't name them all off but knew who they were when they walked across the camp.

I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere
But you can't catch me now
+ she/her + No purrks
Finally, they were getting more training done and not sitting around collecting dust. Well either collecting dust or being tempted to bury the loudmouth into the ground beneath them if she kept her antic up of being annoyingly loud. Anything they could grip to get out of camp and maybe get closer to the title of a warrior, they would take quickly. "Coming, sir!" came her answer as she came from the dark corner of the camp, close to the apprentice's den. They probably should have told the enforcer that they didn't exactly sleep inside the den, just outside of it. The paw didn't quite enjoy being in the same den as certain cats and there were too many bodies in there for their liking. With a little bit of prep in her steps, she made their way to the front of the entrance, where they could smell hawkbite standing. "Here and ready"
@SuspiciousMindz [ funny enough, she refuses to sleep inside the den ]

Hawkbite swished his tail as he waited, glad to see the apprentice had some punctuality. As she confirmed she was ready, he would purposefully made his paw steps a little louder as he pivoted and began headed out the entrance. "We don't have to go far for this training. It can be pretty straight forward so you should learn it quickly," the Commander spoke as he walked, casting glances over his shoulder to ensure she was still following. "The key thing with ambush is using your stealth training and using your hunting training. You'll be combining them in a way," Hawkbite explained as he came to the set of trees he'd trained other apprentices at. He'd stop in his tracks and face her.
One thing the Commander didn't account for before they got out here, was her blindness. Hawkbite hadn't trained a blind apprentice before, so this would be a learning experience for them both. Half of him was grateful she couldn't see the gears turning in his head as he worked out a strategy for her.

A twitch of an ear signaled their acknowledgement of the other making it glaringly obvious where the other was. Even if the motion was in the mind of their handicap, they wondered if sometimes they forget that other senses existed. The apprentice was fully capable of smelling them and it sure didn't take much to notice when a presence was gone. Well if they wanted to make all that noise so be it, wasn't their problem. A nod of their head showed they were listening, good so this would be an easy lesson. Thank the gods that they had sought out their ma for stealth lessons and that fennelwhatever for hunting. "So this will be a quick and easy lesson than I assume?" raise of a brow at the blind apprentice staring in Hawkbites general direction.

"Hmmm," Well, Hawkbite wasn't sure how to answer that. He thought for a moment before giving a shrug -- mostly to himself. "If you learn quickly, yes. Let's find out, shall we?" He cleared his throat before falling silent. He approached the apprentice, tapping his tail on her shoulder to signal dropping into a crouch. "Crouch first," he spoke, getting into his own crouch. "The idea is in a situation where we need to ambush a cat, you have to think of them as prey. Tell me, do you know when prey is facing you? I assume you can figure out distance if you're trained to hunt, but how do you know how your prey is oriented?"
Hawkbite had to get some stupid questions out of the way. He obviously didn't know how to train her correctly yet, but he was willing to learn with her and try. He was always down for the challenge and if learning how to train her would help another apprentice in the future, then he'd take everything he learned here and put it to good use.

Re: Wispy's Ambush [p]

Wash him deep where the tides are turning
+ she/her[they/them to those she has told] + Heightened Perception [hearing, active]
They almost let themself pout in slight annoyance but mainly disappointment that the enforcer didn't answer the question. At least it was only one question that wasn't answered, eventually more would be asked if they got confused which they highly doubted that. Wispypaw stood still and waited for the other to do something, giving a nod at the spoken words before they went silent. Seemed they had enjoyed the quietness a little too much because they hadn't noticed the enforcer's presence to get closer to her. No words left their maw for now as they listened to the simple phrase, they idly wondered how many failed the first step. Without another thought to add they dropped down in a crouch, the same one they had been taught, being mindful to keep their feathery tail above the ground.
More talking and a question asked, oh boy of course it had to do something with their eyesight. "Honestly? No, it's kind of hard for me to tell which direction they are facing, I mostly rely on my hearing and smell when it comes to that" probably a weakness of theirs but hopefully they'd get rid of it sooner or later. They can't be caught slacking if something were to ever happen, though they once more had a doubt. "Though you could say it's easier to tell when I can feel their eyes on me but thats usually easier with other cats than the prey we hunt every day."
