He watched as the first got tackled, and the odd-ball went next. He wasn’t doing half bad (shockingly), but of course LionPaw could be better! He observed the apprentices every move, judgment in his gaze (of course that was quite common for himself). Of course one day he’d have to suck-up his attitude, but not while he’s a determined apprentice! He must be as good as kind-of-dad. Stronger than that Fish, able to protect Ma with everything in him. He needed all that, and to some it may seem selfish, sure in some ways it is. But is he really wrong for wanting that? That destiny.

Cherrywood stayed silent, eyes closed once more as she listened. Darkpaw was doing very well, at least for the first bit. Once he was about a tail length away, a pebble could be heard shifting in the dirt below the apprentice.

Her eyes shot open as she quickly leaped to her paws, lashing out a paw with sheathed claws at Darkpaw. Her intentions were not to hurt the apprentices but rather to knock them off balance, or have them dodge. Whichever happened she was fine with, though the ladder was preferred.

Coyotepaw being thrown across the den wasn't necessarily what she'd planned to do, but she figured due to the fact he was almost a full-grown cat at this point, he'd be harder to knock over so she took drastic measures.

Coyotepaw watched Darkpaw closely, narrowing his eyes slightly. Lucky. That's what this must be, simply luck. No way he almost did it perfectly on his first try. The brown-based rosette tabby sighed softly as he heard the noise then watched Cherrywood closely.

Why had she been so rough with him? Yeah, he was almost a warrior now, even then it seemed a little mean. What did she even have against him? He barely interacted with her. The only thing he could think of was his former relationship with Wormpaw.

A scowl crept its way across the apprentice's maw as his former friend flashed into his mind. The drama that it'd put him through, he risked his entire pelt and home for that cat, and what did he get in thanks? Nothing.

He got rejected and then abandoned by the smaller tom. He kneaded at the ground in frustration, not even paying attention to the lesson anymore as he fumed over his failed relationship.

DarkPaw winced as he heard the pebble shuffle…then the warrior snapped his direction. Oh…damn. As he watched the paw come flying at him…

She was sent to get him…the blood that stained his claws…s - he c- ou- ld- se - e IT.

She was sent to end the beast, tearing him apart inside out. She was send to kill him…he should’ve just done it first. There’s many times in his short life…when he got trampled and hit…he should have succumb to the treacherous thoughts then instead of now. Now, when it was in another cat’s paws.

Then some voice- something snapped him out of it. Get your head out of your ass. Her claws are sheathed. Perhaps it was his own conscious, but it worked. The paw, very much so sheathed, was flying at him. No murderous intent. Nothing…perhaps not every cat had it out for him?

He did his best to quickly duck below the blow. It was nothing fancy or organized. He simply flopped down on instinct, as the dumbest of kits would probably do.

He watched at the attempting apprentices failed, and the warrior went to strike him. Then too the apprentice next to him as he noticed the ground being town up. The hell did it do to this other sob story to be worthy of getting destroyed? “What’s got your pelt up in a bunch, hm?” he asked, pretty uninterested actually. The first one who was currently trying was nervous and plain old odd…this one was some pathetic weirdo. Obviously he was the best here, huh?

Cherrywood gave him a small nod of approval to Darkpaw "Good dodge." She said plainly, turning to face Darkpaw, she could sense something off but had no idea what so she shrugged it off. She turned back around before clearing her throat "Lionpaw, your turn" She said with a nod, her tail swaying slightly behind her as she waited.

Coyotepaw narrowed his eyes as his gaze turned to rest on Lionpaw "Wh-" He glanced down, noticing the torn grass below him. He let out a sigh, debating how exactly he should respond "mm- nothing. Just wondering why she seems to have it out for me" He mumbled, shooting a cold glance toward Cherrywood's calico pelt as she complimented Darkpaw, then called up Lionpaw.
