Curled ears perked up at the sounds of rustling, and Poppyburst suddenly shot through the undergrowth. There was a squeal of terror - most likely from a squirrel, and it was cut off abruptly. A few heartbeats later, the tortoiseshell reappeared with her catch - a squirrel, indeed - clamped tight between her jaws and her green eyes sparkling.

First came Poppyburst jogging up, without question. Hm. Goldfish nodded to her as she approached, eyes appreciative. Next thing she knew over came Floodsight, who did indeed ask questions. “I don’t have a clue. Saw something out of the corner of my eye. But her scents leading that way. Thanks to the both of you for showing up. Now come on, time is of the essence.” Professed the feline, as she jerked her head n the direction of the faint, soft kitten scent smudged as the child must be aging. The Ace of Spades made a sharp whip around, and began to follow the scent with her head bowed at a quick pace, strides spread apart and nose occasionally brushing the feathery grass blades. It was strong, fresh, which was a good sign. Goldfish hadn’t kept track with if her patrol mates were following, too intent of searching for the runaway child. Go, go, go. No time to spare. Scenarios spin through her head at the speed of light but Goldfish plucked out the rash, unlikely ones. Her calm demeanor hadn’t left the scarred feline’s expression as she walked, but there was also a focused, intense look about her that showed she was acting purely on logic. No time for instinct. Thoughts were whirling through her head in an endless loop.

Punishment? Okay, injured? Dead, alive? Which kit? Her kit? Unlikely. But it still was a thought. In a matter of what felt like longer than what it was that blurred time she found a scent growing stronger, and- there. There, there they were! The kit was submerged in mud and a wave of the uncanny urge to lunge into the mud herself swept over the Ace of spades. “Hey, I found them!” she would shout, motioning with one paw toward the mud, but pushing that leg out to the side to alert the felllow rescuers not to come closer. ”Its slick. They sank down. If we fall in, that’s one more cat we have to rescue.” Goldfish growled, golden hues fixated on the slight indentation and slide marks that indicated that the child had fallen in. “We need a plan. Fast. Hey! Hey, it’s okay! We found you. Can you hear me?” She shouted, fur on her dappled spine rising slightly as she stared down. Her own paws were sliding where she stood now, so she took a step backwards, although she wanted to go forward it was clear that would be idiotic. Glancing around, Goldfish found her eyes settling on a tree with a branch hanging over the area… she could climb, but how or scoop the kit out without falling in herself..?

She gave a pause in order to give her patrol mates the chance to come up with something. But they needed to move quickly, so internally Goldfish was going over possible plans to rescue the child in time. What if she were to climb the tree with a stick.. a long one,, laying n the branch and hold the stick in place? Then one cat could hold on with their paws or jaws while grasping the kitten then pull it up. ”We need a branch, whatever happens. Poppyburst, go find a long stick. A really long one, nice and sturdy enough to support a large cat’s weight. Floodlight, you’re with me. Are you comfortable being dropped down there? From.. a tree?” Goldfish didn’t know if anyone else could climb so she didn’t want to risk it with anyone being unable to properly climb up and hang on while dragging a cat’s weight. But her voice was polite and quick, offering a choice. Floodlight seemed quite lightweight, so she would be a good choice. ”I won’t drop you.. if you don’t let go.” A wry attempt at keeping hopes high. But the whole time she would glance back over where Starrykit had sunken. Come on.. come on..

“Uh-…” he watched as RedMire started towards the exit. What the hell just happened? He looked, meeting SedgeFlakes gaze and nodded as to indicate he noticed the change too. He didn’t know what the topic switch was over…it was odd. “Yeah—I want to feel safe in the clan I’d risk my damn life for. ” he huffed in agreement, keeping a steady pace as he took in the fresh air.

He feels like it may have gotten worse since he got his leader name and lives…perhaps having more power? Or that’s simply when RowanMane noticed it. He understood the difficult work or being leader though, he was trying his best to keep his clan to like him and keep them in check at the same time…DuskLion would be a great better, even she seemed to disagree a bit.

[ NOTICE: This post takes place after Poppyburst´s interactions w/ Dusklion and Goosestrike. ]

With a nod, Poppyburst took off, her tail flashes of black and ginger in the wind behind her. Kits these days. Leaving camp without permission and climbing up trees. Green eyes narrowing down to slits, the tortoiseshell emerged into a part of RiverClan´s territory known for its leaf-littered ground being covered with broken branches - and other tree parts.

Eyes landing on a thin branch, Poppyburst examined it. She grasped it between her jaws and bit down, the wood splintering in her mouth almost instantly. Spitting out the splinters of tree bark, Poppyburst´s ears twitched. Well, that didn´t work. It had been too old and rotten.

Spotting a much younger, thicker branch nearby, the RiverClanner padded over to it. She placed a paw on it, letting it trace the edges.

No splintering. Good.

Grasping it between her teeth, Poppyburst bit down, relieved that the branch refused to budge. This one was perfect, and it was nice and long. Green eyes filled with approval, Poppyburst raced back through the bushes and stopped beside Goldfish. ´´Here,´´ She mewed, slightly breathless. ´´It was on the ground. The first one I found was too rotten and splintered the moment I bit down on it to test it. This one is perfect, though. It´s nice and long, and it didn´t give way under pressure.´´

The warrior´s green eyes rounded with sympathy, then alarm as she recognized the silver tabby pelt of the kit. ´´Hey, Goldfish...´´ Poppyburst paused, her gaze never leaving the familiar fur. ´´Isn´t that Starrykit?´´

As acornleaf stumbles down the hill by her house, he comes across a familiar face. "Hey! How's things going? Since the exile, things been pretty rough, so I though I'd come stop by." He walked towards them, as he prepared for a long talk.

A kit? There they were, a small little thing stuck sinking in the mud. They had to act fast.

She'd listened to Goldfish's plan and it sounded pretty straight forward. All till... she wanted to support Floodsight on a stick? A little stunned. Sure, by all means to save the little one. Not going to lie, the silver warrior thought she'd suggest to prop the stick on the rock to act as a sort of seesaw to lift the kit out of the mud from a safe distance. But if this is was the Lionheart had decided on, then she'll follow. The silver molly wasn't going to take chances on switching a different plan, not when there's a kit's life in danger.

Floodsight glanced at the Lionheart, skeptical but she'll trust her clanmate. She gave the tortoiseshell molly a confident look before nodded, "I could, I will."

It didn't take to too long for Poppyburst to come back with a long stick. So it's on.
