The tom's mismatched ears perked up as he stared into the prey pile. Not as well stocked as he was used to seeing, but with leaffall in full swing, the gentle giant understood that food would only become more and more scarce the closer they got to leafbare. He should go hunting. In fact, he would go hunting... just... He was so hungry now. Taking care of his kits and the kits taking his lessons along with how little time he'd had to eat altogether ever since the fire... Stars... He wasn't sure he would even be able to hunt as he was now.
As if on cue, the tom's stomach gave a loud churn, and after swiftly looking in all directions to ensure no one had overheard that embarrassingly loud complaint - his stomach seemed to have a mind of its own... why, he would never dare voice his own hunger so rudely - he sighed, spotting no one around him. Despite himself, a light chuckle escaped him. If something like this was enough to fluster him, then perhaps WindClan really was on its way back to its usual, calm, peaceful self. Why, it was almost enough to celebrate! Yes... yes it was! With friends, even! Why... if he took this rabbit over to the warriors' den, Snowybreeze was certain he would find at least one friendly face to partake with. And as long as he went out hunting later on for some more food... why, everything would be just fine!
A small purr escaping him as he settled on a plan, the Maine Coon mix grabbed the long eared prey, mouth watering as the delicious scent wafted towards his ever sensitive nose before bounding giddily over to the warriors' den. In truth, the patched warrior did not have many friends. Not anymore. His original plan had been much less vague than he had allowed himself to properly formulate, even in his mind. Wanting nothing more than to find Deadmoon and share the rabbit with her, in hopes of celebrating her rise in the ranks. A fury! The warrior always knew she was an amazing warrior, and this only helped solidify that fact exponentially.
Of course, with her new rank came new responsibilities, and unsurprisingly, even as he poked his broad head into the den, he found her nest void of any feline. Ears drooping with sorrow for a moment, Snowybreeze made to leave, thinking perhaps he should just settle for one of the mice before heading off to his hunt when his gaze met a familiar pelt. A cat whom he kept an eye on from afar, never daring to approach much because... well... he couldn't bring himself to impose his presence on the younger tom. It didn't change it, however. The fact that Whisperinghive had been Berryfrost's apprentice. One she had cared for dearly, as she did with all cats who crossed paths with her. She had always been a caring, warm, generous she-cat, after all.
With everything that had happened of late, though... With how little time he'd had even for himself... The tom was sorry to say he had simply not had the time to keep up with the ginger warrior's daily happenings since his treasures had been... born? Gifted? Gifted. Guilt bubbled in his stomach, the urge to apologize for something the other feline had no idea about threatening to spill forth if not for the rabbit still in his maw.
Perhaps it had been fate. Or just a happy little coincidence. Yes, he had not found his much loved not mother Deadmoon, but had instead come upon a rare instance. An opportunity to approach another with a gift. With an actual reason to speak to them and not come across as rude. Unworthy. As little more than a pest. After all, what WindClanner ever said no to a rabbit? Actually... a few... Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all?
Unfortunately, it was too late. Unbeknownst to him, his paws had already begun making their way towards his clanmate, reaching him before he even had time to register his own approach. Blinking with abject horror - StarClan help him... he hadn't even cleared his throat to announce his arrival, would his audacity ever end - a small, timid whine rumbled in the back of his throat before he dropped the rabbit at his paws, their massive size dwarfing the appetizing plumpness of the creature he'd brought with him. Toes wiggling as he struggled to come up with something to say, he finally cleared his throat, both biding for time as well as... well... better late than never, he supposed. This done, Snowybreeze felt some level of relief wash over him... There. He wasn't a complete monster!
"U-um. Ex-excuse. Oh. Dear. Um... Let me. Start. Start over. Please," the silent tom mumbled, before dipping his head in a respectful nod. A proper greeting.
"Good. Good day. I was. Wondering. Oh. Golly... Just. Wished to. Share. This. Rabbit. If. If you. Liked. Of course. No. No need. Oh. I don't. Mean to. Impose. But it. Just. Looked quite. Quite tasty. And... Meep!"
As swiftly as he had begun talking, Snowybreeze ceased, realizing just how much gabbing he was doing without letting poor Whisperinghive get a word in. Stars... This was why he never spoke. Or at least tried not to. He really was incorrigible. Why, he was unable to put his thoughts together cohesively enough even when he was attempting to share a meal. He could only hope Berryfrost could not see him just now. Imagine... The shame of seeing her mate being so impertinent with her former apprentice! StarClan help him...
