Upon returning the camp after depositing what needed to be deposited, Silverrose was quick to find Lightningstorm already tending to the injured - looking awfully chipper compared to her more... Solemn state, not that the warrior could blame her. Her whiskers twitched, watching this, causing a sting across her face as she was reminded of the hit the opposing warrior from RiverClan had landed - that fool, fleeing from the battle like that. Well, she was fairly unharmed compared to some, so the silver warrior decided to wait until the worst of them had been treated before speaking up; though, Lightningstorm was likely to notice her before tha time, she had pegged the molly as rather perceptive.

Even as she rushed from one patient to the next, the lithe calico's lapis hues soon spotted a quiet feline in the mix. A silver tabby who's gaze made her more nervous than she'd cared to admit. Ever since... whatever it was that had happened, the healer had been coasting by. No one seemed to bother her or be bothered by her, and while that caused some very small difficulties when it came to navigating the day to day, it meant things were admittedly far smoother than she had first feared they would be. The tricolor would almost swear that she was invisible sometimes, a strange notion that gave her both peace of mind as well as a deep rooted discomfort all at the same time. It was both wonderful and horrid, and she couldn't quite make up her mind if she sided with the positive aspects of it or teetered towards the more negative connotations that lingered with it.

And yet that mattered little here, because for the first time in recent memories, Lightningstorm felt seen. Exposed in some way. And it made her irrationally upset that she didn't understand why. That there was little she could do about it without making herself even more vulnerable to... whatever it was she felt she needed to protect against. So what could she do in this moment? To mask this feeling of discomfort that coursed the flesh under her pelt in such an unwelcomed manner?

She grinned. A cheeky little smirk that lit up her eyes as she grabbed a marigold and some cobwebs before padding towards the tabby warrior. The medicine cat wasn't certain if they were close. If they were enemies. She felt neutral towards her, just as she did towards most cats in this place. But she settled on... maybe them not being friends. Maybe. She hadn't gotten visitors, however... Not since- Did that mean she had no friends to rely on? No familiar bonds to fall back to among these cats? If so, just what exactly had tied her to this place before it had all been blinked away and lost to the dark?

"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes?" Lightningstorm mewed no sooner had she dropped the marigold before her and began to make her poultice.

A teasing remark. One that might go many a ways. Annoy. Fluster. Garner a small flirt back? The herbalist didn't know, and frankly she didn't care. She was too busy deflecting this uncomfortable feeling of being watched. Too occupied studying the warrior's physique. Her stance. Making sure that the scratches in her face were the only thing of note to heal on this otherwise unscathed cat.

"Your injuries seem to be mostly superficial. Can't see them leaving so much as a scar by the time I am through with you. Now, if you'll just hold still, this poultice will make sure no infection gets in before it's had the time to heal."

In the wake of the battle Crowtooth was bone tired and still wheezing. Well wheezing more then normal, gasping really in a way that was a stretch beyond his normal rasping and could easily dip into an asthma attack if he tried to exert himself any time soon. But that was normal post battle and he knew how to deal with it, intentionally breathing deep and in a specific method to not trigger that as he traveled home.

Healing, making sure his apprentices were healed, and sleep. That was simple enough right?
(it would not be)

So, making sure to keep pace with Winterpaw and Rabbitpaw, who were also injured but not enough to be treated by the shadowclan herb rats, he padded over to where Lightningstorm was calling cats over.

Lightningstorm, now there was something odd there. First despite being capable she was left behind and now she was far more chipper then normal, something that Crowtooth was used to being one of her few friends but was seldom seen among the clan now adays.... Maybe she'd had a nice revelation with her kits being born? That happened recently didnt it, the tom was even meaning to go poke his nose in and whine ask why his friend hadnt introduced him to the little furballs only the battle had been a large distraction first. He'd ask soon, sitting down with a thump and stretching out his hurt leg with a groan, not really able to muster a greeting to her between his gasping. Maybe Rabbitpaw or Winterpaw would in his place, granted they didnt peel away for private reflection.

Rabbitpaw wasn’t sure of his own thoughts and opinions on it all. Or even really had time to think about what his mother’s opinions meant to him…for him. Much less the very distressing words she also said. And then that Riverclan apprentice. He flicked his ears and winced as one of them relit with pain with vengeance. Then Crowtooth was there, with Winterpaw…he was able to smile a bit at his mentor’s teasing. Rabbitpaw was pleased with the silver lining that he was able to match Crowtooth and Winterpaw at the very least. Pushing the Riverclan apprentice’s words to the furthest point of his mind, Rabbitpaw go to his paws and made to be the sunshine-y feline he always is. Hopefully he could cheer up his clan mates as well, after all they did as they came here to do. Drive off Riverclan.

During the walk home, Rabbitpaw found himself slightly annoyed by his ear injury. The blood as since dropped down into his face and one of his eyes and it was drying and it was so annoying! He’s tripped like twice which didn’t help his back paw wounds hurt any less. Though he mostly spent the walk at his mentor’s side, ears flipped down in concern, listening to the older feline’s wheezes. They sounded worse than normal. It was…distressing. For a moment his mind brought up the Thunderclan cat from the gathering a couple moons ago. They had been breathing off as well, and it distressed him then and it was even more distressing now but…it was different. It wasn’t frightful, or at least…well what did Rabbitpaw know. Maybe Crowtooth was just as scared as Rabbitpaw still is even with his words about the necessity of battles.

Regardless, Rabbitpaw didn’t move an inch away from his mentor’s side. Brushing against Crowtooth if the other allowed it. The apprentice tried to keep his own fright down as he looked around his injured and even dead clanmates. His eyes teared up. His mentor didn’t say any words, and honestly Rabbitpaw thinks he really shouldn’t right now, he should probably just focus on breathing. But Rabbitpaw could talk for him. “Miss Lightningstorm! Crowtooth needs help! His breathing isn’t being very nice, and also he’s hurt!” The apprentice called out, hoping to let the herbalist know that they were there even if she couldn’t immediately get to them. He couldn’t imagine the kind of stress she must be under. Having the whole clan depend on you right now, he wishes that he could help more! If only he had his full name! Then he could go out and get herbs, and help, or prey, or anything! Maybe he could find another warrior to take him out after Crowtooth was helped…and also him. He should probably get his wounds checked out. He shivered slightly as he remembered Miss Lightningstorm’s words about coming to see her rather than hiding and also the leafbare comment. He blinked his green eyes open and waited.

Parts of his pelt were stained with red and pink, blood congealing on his ear and the messier parts of his fur. The usual spiky tufts were tousled and matted, but his eyes were still sharp as ever.

The walk back home had been long, longer than it would've been without so many injured cats. Though Winterpaw could still walk fine, he matched his pace with the slowest of the group, keeping an eye on anyone he thought might need it. His attention kept drifting back to his mentor, though.

Rabbitpaw stayed next to the warrior's side, which Winterpaw was grateful for- Crowtooth seemed to be fighting for every breath. Many times Winterpaw felt the urge to get closer, try and satisfy the almost paranoid itch inside of him, but he never did. He just kept glancing back at his mentor and clanmate, Crowtooth's wheezing and Rabbitpaw's tattered ear setting something... on edge, inside of him. The need to defend, even though there was nothing to defend from.

But soon enough, they were back. Seeing the two of them head over to Lightningstorm made him feel slightly better. Slightly.

Rabbitpaw called for the medicine cat, telling her about Crowtooth's harsh breathing and his injuries. Winterpaw couldn't see them clearly, earlier, but maybe it was more obvious up close... Well. Winterpaw got quite close to Crowtooth too, he supposed. But maybe he had just missed something.

It was possible Crowtooth couldn't speak for himself right now, so Winterpaw was glad Rabbitpaw had spoken up... but just how bad was the apprentice hurt? His ear was still torn, with a cut on his flank and some scratches on his face. Easy to see on his pale fur.

Was... Rabbitpaw in pain? He must be. He was in pain, different than Winterpaw ever was, not dull or detached or absent altogether. But he was still standing.

Winterpaw padded over. He stood behind Rabbitpaw for a moment, silent, like a menacing, looming shadow over the shorter apprentice. Then he cleared his throat.

"Rabbitpaw," Winterpaw started. "I..."

He paused again, for a few moments. No more words came to him. Winterpaw's gaze shifted to the side, and he hoped with a startling fervor that some emotion had bled into his words, something Rabbitpaw could understand.

He stood in front of Lightningstorm as well now, not even considering adknowledging his wounds, though they were on full display for the medicine cat to see. He wasn't thinking of treatment at the moment.

She was done. Or at least, Lightningstorm was fairly certain she was done when three new felines approached her, two apprentices from the looks of them and a warrior. A very, very overly taxed warrior. His injuries were hardly the worse she had seen while patching up the cats here, and yet... his breathing was dreadful. This wasn't from fighting. Instinct told her otherwise. A deep seeded knowledge that she had studied this before. Experimented with similar raspy lungs in her life. Found the treatment.

One of the apprentices approached her rapidly, clear concern in his eyes as he called out both her name and Crowtooth's. The herbalist blinked, her stare shifting between the paw and the warrior as the younger of the two spoke. If it hadn't been for the breathing, the medicine cat would have been tempted to treat the two apprentices first. They were much more beat up than he was, but that rasp would not get better on its own, and as such, she found herself nodding at the big eared tom. Without another word, she entered her den, having failed to grab any berries for this before. She had hardly expected breathing problems of this magnitude, assuming she would instead be dealing with the far more common missing ears the rest of her clanmates had opted for. Gratefully, almost as if it could sense her needs, the little beetle that had made its home among her herbs had taken to playing with one of the juniper berries she sought, dropping it from its perch to well worn path below. With a good humored roll of her eyes at its antics, she wandered topside once more, dropping one of the scarce few berries remaining before the black and white feline with the shunned lungs.

"Ears tells me you're having some trouble breathing, not that it's much of a secret, is it?" Lightningstorm mewed, her nose wrinkling as she attempted a small smile, trying to provide some form of levity despite the situation.

The tom seemed to have a good head on his shoulders. And yet he gave her the same uncomfortable feeling she'd gotten from a patient a little before. That knowing look, like he could see her. Like if her cheeky mask was in danger of crumbling. Why? Why did he also look at her as if she were so odd? So out of place? Had she changed so much? If so, why? What could have possibly been her way of doing things before? Why did her steps not lead to the same every day life from moments prior to whatever had happened? And why had this not been a problem until now? She didn't know, and she loathed not knowing. Worse still when it seemed as if she was the only one not in the know. And yet she felt her walls rising, a level of self preservation in place. She didn't know why she didn't just out herself. Seek help. But a voice inside her head screamed at her to not trust so blindly with things that might simply make her vulnerable in ways she couldn't take back or erase.

"These are juniper berries. You'll be familiar with them I would hope, but they'll help you with that breathing problem you've got going on. You lot don't look like you took the bloody beating some of the others have, but I'll whip up a good poultice for the three of you. Will have you patched up and ready for a rest before those berries have had a chance to kick in and you are yowling on fresh lungs again," Lightningstorm purred, her grin widening as she turned her attention to some marigold that she'd brought along to tend to the wounded alongside some dandelion. Their pain would be centered on the injuries themselves. With the leaves making the areas numb, they would be resting better than with poppy seeds for pain. At least for now.

| Treating all three of your characters together! Would like to ask for permission to powerplay her tending to injuries so she can properly treat all three in the next post, but would understand if the characters might oppose, so do let me know! |

Crowtooth
Windclan Tunneler/Fury | He/him | 51 Moons
Power Card: Cold Gust

Such fussing from his apprentices! Honestly wasnt Crowtooth the mentor here, you'd think he was some dying elder with the fuss they put up right now, he went through this after near every single battle it was rote at this point. He could cope, he had coped even without herbs for his throat for most of his life and was fine thank you. But the two did have him caught, he could speak to scold them to get treated first or reassure them so he simply huffed, leveling them with a not at all firm look before reaching over to pat them both.

Calm down, all was well, Im ok and youre ok. Just relax.

See! Lightningstorm was already coming over to deal with the issue!

Grinning at the medicine cat and her pep Crowtooth made silly little grabby motions at the berries that'd quickly become his favorite plant, chewing them and letting that soothing juice flow down his throat before confusion stopped him dead. It was just.... Well....

Lightningstorm herself had taught the tom about juniper, it was how to two first bonded really so why was she explaining them again? Crowtooth had taken and fetched these little berries so many times for the molly, there was no way she'd forgotten he knew them. Also, she knew every damn detail about his breathing difficulties (even how they were caused, a lingering trauma for him) so why did her words imply she didnt? That wasnt as clear but something about how she said everything was just off and it rattled Crowtooth.

Quickly swallowing the berrying and working his throat to try and get it to kick in faster the tom grinned hesitantly, gaze fixing on the medicine cat and spoke (probably a bit too soon by the choked nature of it).

"Ah, sorry Lightnin' I aint gettin' yer jokes this time, ya comin' up wit' new material or somethin'? Like is this a jab about my old memory issues an' how ya taught me about juniper first we met oooooooor? It aint clickin', sorry."
Maybe she was just tired? Her kittens were just born, that'd be enough to rattle anyone.

"Ah, flat joke dont matter at the mo' I suppose, mind prioritizing Rabbitpaw an' Winterpaw? These nervous nillies are a little battered an' rattled by the battle an' need ta learn their mentor can deal wit' a lot more then any fish can throw at him ya two hear! Im fine, we're all safe. Come an' sit by me an' take a few deep breaths, stars knows I need ta do the same."
Frankly he was kind of lost trying to deal with his apprentices post battle shock, never really having experienced it himself and not being the best cat with words so hopefully Lightningstorm had a fix. And an explanation for her behavior. And more herbs, he'd need to go hunting for those later.
