Maggotkit listens with bated breath, silent as stone and focused on Duckthroat. It cares for very little in this life but stories, and it reveres elders like they're star-sent. Even so, Duckthroat's story has it squirming by the end, face crumpling into an outraged litte frown. It's angry on the apprentice's behalf; why didn't anyone want to go with them? To keep them safe out there? Maggotkit sides with the young cat, feeling for them.

"That apprentice had a bad mentor," it declares coolly. Since Maggotkit is using the younger cat in the story as a self-insert, it has naturally decided that everyone else in the story should have been catering to them. "Poor apprentice...I hope that big nasty badger got eaten by a...by a...by a bigger and nastier badger." It sniffs. The moral has flown right over its head. "Okay. I want another story. Please."

Oh, now Duckthroat's getting please. Maggotkit must adore him. It flicks a brief look at Silverfur, and another sour expression pulls at its whiskers. Maggotstar. How awful. It would hate to be leader...but if being leader meant making Silverfur eat a tick...hmmm...

"You'll do it," Maggotkit replies hotly, irritated with the warrior. It's so upset that this grown adult cat isn't catering to the every whim of its kit self that it almost contemplates a tantrum...but a tantrum right now might mean missing that second story. "You'll see." Maggotkit swears grumpily. Okay, well. Guess this means it has to strive toward leadership one day, just to make Silverfur eat a tick. She'll be eating two ticks, now, for the trouble she's caused. Maggotkit sticks its tongue out at her.

Take that.

It's so pleased with its little show of rebellion that it takes a moment to propery register that Silverfur's come over to clean it up. Maggotkit squawks awkwardly, cringing away like it doesn't quite know what to do, now. In truth, the little kit isn't bathed often. Whiterabbit rarely has the patience for such a chore, and Maggotkit han't yet learned how to do a good job of grooming itself. It hisses, moody, but it doesn't move to stop the older cat from helping. It does feel nice, being clean.

Duckthroat finishes his story and acknowledges the warrior “mm thank you I also hope the apprentices actually start doing it..maggotkit you’ll help me when your an apprentice won’t ya?”he asked light heartedly as he watched the squirming ball of fur gave a tantrum while being cleaned up his eyesight wasn’t the best so he hadn’t noticed how filthy the kit was “If you hold still for Sikverfur I’ll tell you another story how about that?”

Maggotkit would get a good clean, Silverfur's tongue would make sure of that. She would pause and frown at the kit. "Well either you've fell down a rabbit hole or you've not been cleaned in some time, this furs all clumped and knotted together, I'm surprised you don't have ticks, it's a miracle really" she exclaimed.

She would nod her head at Duckthroat. "Yes, I hope the apprentces start to pick up a few more duties, rather then ignore the more boring ones for hunting and fighting" she would mew.

She would pick up Maggotkit gently and reposition him to get the rest of his fur clean. Looking at Duckthroat she would twich her tail, "you can tell a story about some of the recent events that's happened in windclan. Like how we drove those fox hearted riverclaners out" she would comment.

"Seems Twilightstar wasn't impressed with how many of her clan didn't show up at the battle patrol"

"I'll help," it confirms quickly. Of course Maggotkit would help out around here once it became a 'paw. It's not really looking forward to becoming an apprentice, but doing chores for the elders doesn't seem all that bad. Especially if it can be paid in stories. "Can I live here? And be an elder? Instead of a warrior." It asks Duckthroat. It's trying to sound nonchalant about this, like the request is just a silly one-off thing, but this is really all that Maggotkit wants. There's already tons of warriors! The clan needs more elders, surely. Plus Maggotkit doesn't want to do any hunting or fighting or patrolling, that sounds hard. And stupid. So if it could just skip all that, things would be better.

Now, while Maggotkit is trying very hard to still be cross with Silverfur, it's difficult to be upset with someone who's gotten it all nice and clean. It hadn't even realized how nasty it'd been, nor had it known how much better it would feel to get washed up. It's lax and cooperative as Silverfur moves it about.

"I fell down a rabbithole and I got really lost," it lies, intrigued by Silverfur's remark. "The rabbits didn't want to show me how to get out so I rolled in the dirt until I looked like one. And I tucked my tail in like this," it demonstrates, "and I hopped like bunnies do. And then they liked me and they showed me how to come home. So that's why."

Perhaps it's feeling a little embarrassed about its griminess, in hindsight—or maybe it just wanted to make up a tall tale. Besides the fibbing, it's become rather compliant; Maggotkit doesn't want to miss that second story.
