Petalrot
~<>~
28 moons || bug/bug’s || ShadowClan Warrior
slim tortoiseshell w/ white tuxedo markings; green eyes

The day was going well enough, Petalrot had just finished bug's meal and was settling in to groom bug's pelt a bit when a call of bug's name caused bug to snap to attention. Petalrot and three others were called to deal with the minks and that was... scary. Bug had seen the damage the minks had done to bug's leader - in fact, the evidence of the attack still decorated her pelt, and Petalrot privately thinks she might be just a little crazy to go after them again so soon. Nevertheless, bug answers the summons and follows after her.

Quietly, the tortoiseshell listens as bug's leader describes just how vicious these minks are. The main thing bug takes away from the warnings is to watch bug's neck and stick close to the rest of the patrol. The fact the minks are smart enough to know how to pick cats off by luring them away from their group was enough to send a shiver down bug's spine. Who would've thought a creature smaller than them could be so violent? Petalrot files the information away for the moment, still sort of marveling that someone as uninvolved as bugself would even be called to help with a mission as important as minks.

Nearing the WindClan border, Petalrot wrinkles bug's nose, uncomfortable with the strong heather that wafted in the air. Surely just because the two clans had an alliance that didn't mean the rabbits were bold enough to actually cross the border? The moorland cats surely weren't that arrogant, were they? Petalrot certainly hoped not - border crossing was one way to end an alliance real fast. But the heady scent was nothing compared to the half eaten prey that the group of five discovered.

"That carrion better not have WindClan scent on it," bug muttered under bug's breath, not all that quiet and not really speaking to anyone in particular but noting the fury rising in bug's leader. Before bug could bend down to inspect it and make sure it wasn't ShadowClan or WindClan scent on it, the sudden chitter and pounding of tiny feet on the forest floor snapped the tom's attention away just in time to see the minks pour out in droves. Petalrot thought there would only be a few of them! This certainly looked like more than a few!

Petalrot lets out a snarl, body crouched low in a defensive stance as the creatures emerge, and accidentally locks eyes with one a good sight smaller than the others. An adolescent? A juvenile? It didn't matter, because the thing is streaking in bug's direction and it's all Petalrot can do to hold bug's ground. There's too many minks - the five of them cannot possibly take them all on their own, regardless of how strong Dawnstar is or the fact that there's two enforcers in this group.
