sitting up and stretching, he started to pad over to the brown molly, brows furrowing in confusion,"Hey Spider. you seem down, was the patrol not as good as you hoped?"

spiderflight looked up when she heard pawsteps start towards her, recognising the thick ginger fur in an instant. she and fireflare were good friends, being so similar in personality, but they had never been the type to have mushy heart-to-hearts. they were often the type to sneer at one another and toss playful insults at one another, all in good fun. it wasn't often that she was caught in a mood where she couldn't look anyone in the eye. and when she was, it was easy to cover up. but fireflare knew her, and as much as she valued her pride and independence, she could never hide something like this from fireflare. her mouth contorted into a frown and she looked away for a moment. what was she to say? that she found a molly on the border and made her cry? but, then again, she didn't want to say not say anything at all.
" i met a molly on the border, " she started, glueing her eyes to her odd paws, " fallingheart, from thunderclan. "
