····╰⪼ @Mica @Moonraven @Rani [ sorry he also wants cuddles ] .ᐟ.ᐟ ⊱ ۫ ׅ ✧ After getting an earful from a stranger ─ he didn't mean to walk into them! They had just suddenly appeared and now they were upset with him. The apprentice had been quick to slink away after the fact. He had no interest in listening to them babble about being careful and manners. Houndpaw did have interest in the creature he had been watching. After the stranger had disappeared within the crowd, he had returned to the shoreline to prod curiously. Unfortunately, all he learnt that the weird claw hands the creature had HURT like HECK when it got hold of you!
He swung his paw around, up and down and around to try and get the absolutely disastrous little evil bugger. He did eventually manage to fling it .. somewhere. Away from him. And then he was alone on the shoreline, golden irises looking out into the bustling crowd. Alotta cats were talking to each other. (Are you kidding? Most old leaders are mean. You must be lost. Fiend!)
Houndpaw's head jerked painfully to the side, golden irises looking around for one of his siblings. He saw Grottopaw underneath the ledge. Weepingpaw on the ledge - w - wait wut. HEY! They couldn't do that! He shuffled a bit closer, staring at the seastones with buzzing confusion. Could they do that? ... Bleedingpaw was with Night Kitty. MistleMa hadn't even shooed his brother away yet. He stared blankly, blinking rapidly. ... He wanted to be with their moms and Weepy. Then, he wouldn't have to talk or smell the strangers. And he would be cozy. And he could listen. And he could be above everyone. Ggrrrah.
He crept closer and closer to the Seastones, weaving through the crowd so he could go and peer at the two. Actually, the apprentice stood staring up at them for a long while --- unblinking in his focus. O__O. He felt maybe if he stared long enough they would invite him up there. The ledge seemed particularly forbidden. Just as Mama's ledge at home was. Expect. Everyone up there looked comfy 'n he wasn't that patient.
Maybe if he was very quiet no one would pay him any mind. Carefully, Houndpaw jumped up onto the first ledge -- and then slipped and fell back down -- but on his second jump he discovered success. It was a quick skitter up to the deputy's ledge where he crept slowly behind Mistlewhisker, trying to keep his pawsteps quiet and his physical body as low to the ground as possible. He wasn't there. Nuh uh.
He would try and settle right behind her, attempting to be as close as possible to her. (While he tried not to alert her, the loud rumbling purr coming from him was hard to hide. ) Carefully, his head would pop out to stare quizzically at the stranger cat talking to his family. Wut the heck was a pun? Maybe he was a good distraction and they wouldn't realize Houndpaw had came for cuddles too. Still, he didn't like this strange cat yapping so he gave them a good glare to be safe.

Another day another gathering.
Honestly, Crowtooth wasnt feeling half bad tonight, he had taken a nice big nap during the day, actually eaten a proper meal and the twoleg issue was still an issue, but they were taking action. All in all it was all the tom could really ask for in life, so he was walking into the seastones with a spring in his step and a burning desire to bother his buddy.
As such when he'd noticed a certain parasitic plant on his way over, he miiiiiiightve hung back to knock it down with a well timed blast of wind and was now carrying it along with him. Hehehehehhe the stink eye he was going to get was gonna be great.
Of course, no gathering could be without dramatics even if shadowclan and windclan were steady, so padding in with his haul the tom immediately spotted the regime changes. Damn, was Bumblestar dead? She was kinda crazy but- oh no, there she was, yeesh she looked bad, that'd explain the early retirement. Well Spiderthroat wasnt half bad, though if and how the poor sod had leader lives with the starcave down was a question he hoped Twilightstar asked, and the new guy looked.... Well like a thug but the same could be said for Crowtooth so he couldnt judge.
All and all, all the change meant was Crowtooth had a new cat to con into being cool with him (and so windclan) in the name of good clan relations.
Even though he didnt really care, Mistlewhisker still remained that weird freak friendship with another clan that he actually liked and wasnt just internally tolerating.
Speaaaaaaaking of! Hoping up to the deputies perch with the most crowfood eating grin on his face the toms tail waved in a manner better suited for a kit about to pounce on a littermate, offering the mistle with a, "Mistle fer my favorite mistle?" Head tilted and eyes positively howling at how unimpressed she looked. It was, predictably, rejected at which point the tom sighed as if he was heartbroken drawling a "Mistlewhisker buddy, Im startin' ta think ya 'ave no care fer out 'bond'." as he dipped his head, eyes casting over to observe the reactions of the fellow high ranks captive audience. "See new guy, this one 'eres a mean one, be warned lest ya end up personally wounded like me."
Only, Flintclaw wasnt the only one and the tom also spotted a little form that shouldnt have been there (tradition wise). "Well hallo there kiddo, ya a friend o' miss big ol' meanie here?" Kid was basically a Dawnstar clone, so probably one of her spawn, buuuuut Crowtooth wasnt quite mean enough to hate the kid for their unfortunate heritage. Unless they proved themselves like their mother.
So, deciding to continue his little game he leaned down and gave the kit the plant, declaring "Well if she cant appreciate a good pun I pass this onta ya! Im Crowtooth, the windclan deputy, whatcha doin' this here lovely gatherin' little......" words trailing off as he waited for an introduction.
"Yall too big guy. Round o' introductions fer all o' us I think wit' all the new faces, none o' that silent sulkin' an' coldness. T'aint what gatherin's are for."

Yay! A whole group of new high ranks. Dawnstar blinked slowly, lazily, as Spiderthroat leaped onto the leaders' stone. There was a big gray and black tom where he usually sat, and two new faces with the medicine cats. Aside from the huff, she gave little attention; she had more important things to worry about besides the rank swap she's seen numerous times.
Why was Bleedingpaw sitting with Sleepysunrise? Well, so long as no one mistook him for the new medicine cat apprentice, all was well. Now her son... Dawnstar stares long and hard at Weepingpaw as he jumps onto the deputy's perch with Mistlewhisker like he belongs there. Her lip twitches, she's ready to growl at him to get down, but Mistlewhisker doesn't seem to care that he's there.
"I don't care, but he's your problem for the whole gathering." She tells her mate with a look. If Weepingpaw started saying stuff out of pocket, which he did often, no filter on that one's mouth, Mistlewhisker was dealing with it. If he started bawling, also Mistlewhisker's problem. She's getting full custody of that for the whole gathering.
WindClan arrived behind ThunderClan, and Twilightstar seemed to be doing the same as her, ignoring the new cats until she couldn't anymore. And she still had that damn deputy, Dawnstar narrowed her and flashed her fangs when the moron immedatialy started flirting with Mistlewhisker. Dawnstar wasn't as pissed about it as she had been the first time the two got too friendly for her liking, reassured that Mistlewhisker's standers were not that low. It didn't mean she didn't want to kill Crowtooth, however.
She didn't have time to snarl about it; another one of her parasites was climbing on the deputy stone, Houndpaw, and Crowtooth's attention had shifted to Weepingpaw. This was a recipe for disaster, the one was a social disaster, and the other was more of a natural disaster, and Dawnstar wanted nothing to do with it. It was bad enough when one of the two caused trouble, but when they were together, one said or did something, and the other one fed off it, and together they made complete chaos.
"You're responsible for both of them if you let them stay up there. I'm not dealing with their insanity tonight." She told Mistlewhisker with a scowl so fierce she stretched her healing scars painfully. Crowtooth's antic was forgotten in favor of Dawnstar trying to erase two of her spawns' existences from her mind. She turned away from the deputies to search for her more well-behaved, less problematic children.
She found Bumble... whatever she was called now. Dawnstar was a little disappointed to see she was still alive, although she looked like she had taken a beating from someone. That explained why she was no longer standing up here. Still, she couldn't have done the clans a favor and found a better replacement. The leader sighed softly and went back to hunting for her kits. She found one, but where were the others? She wasn't allowing any more on the rocks with Mistlewhisker, it was bad enough that the two terrors were up there.

The Commander arrived with ShadowClan, though took a spot closer to the deputies. Far enough to not be weird, but close enough that he could witness the chaos that Mistlewhisker was letting happen. His gaze settled on Weepingpaw, then Houndpaw. His tail flicked with curiousity. Weepingpaw had that look in his eyes... he was scheming something. Hawkbite knew that look all too well. Dawnstar seemed to have noticed them, too, giving their deputy a small warning. Well, if he had to do it, he'd take one for the team and be a target if Mistlewhisker so wished it. He'd simply give her a knowing stare if she looked his way.

~~~ Oh, how had he not noticed the little apprentice up on the stones at first? He hadn't really noticed until Mistlewhisker said something about them to Dawnstar. He eyed the apprentice that looked very much like the shadowclan leader herself, keeping his face from showing any kind of distaste he might feel about the young cat being up on the deputy rock. It was awfully strange, and it seemed that Sleepysunrise also had some company. New medicine cat apprentice? He didn't see the usual one present, yet.
Then, Windclan arrived. Unfortunately, no reaction. Perhaps he should lower his expectations for entertainment. It really didn't change his own pride in holding the position he had, now. Then came the Windclan deputy, Crowtooth. Hopping up onto the stones and procuring mistle for shadowclan's deputy. The gesture was almost lost on the dark tabby, as he felt his phantom ear twitch and burn as usual. Couldn't those otters have taken the one that twitched less often? Maybe it wouldn't be so irritating if that were the case.
Simple introductions seemed necessary, now that Windclan's deputy brought it up. And, might as well get into the fun a little bit. Why not? He had just as much right to be involved, now, after all. "Flintclaw," The dark tabby rasped, another result of the otter fight that was almost as frustrating as the ear that pained him despite its lack of existence. "You'd have me fooled, with such a cold rejection happening right in front of my eyes." He replied, glancing at Mistlewhisker. Perhaps he didn't need shocked reactions for a little bit of entertainment.
Flintclaw looked over as someone failed to leap onto the deputy stone, then jumped up again with the skittering sound of claws to stone. They smelled of shadowclan as the stalked behind Mistlewhisker and began to purr. Another cat that didn't belong up there. Another shadowclan cat where they didn't belong. He could imagine missing one from below, but this couldn't be normal. "I didn't realize shadowclan was so..." A few words crossed his mind, each one with its own up and down sides. "Sweet. You just trying to take over the stones?" He teased, pale eyes taking in the cats that were slowly crowding the space. Next would be some other random cat on the leader's stones, at the rate this was going.
It seemed that even Dawnstar was not pleased with the encroachment of both of the apprentices. They acted an awful lot like a bickering family, but it wasn't like he knew anything about shadowclan specific customs and relations. It really wasn't all that interesting to him, if he were to be plain. Honestly, he would pretend he didn't care that the apprentices were here to at least show that it didn't faze him. No point in having a fit about it, anyway. Maybe next time he would tell Rosepaw or one of his apprentices to sit up on the stones. Perhaps he'd bring it up with Spiderstar later. It sounded like an entertaining way to be petty.
No, Mamawhisker was the clan deputy, and she was sitting here, so he was sitting on the right one. Ha! Look at her trying to trick him; he wasn't that dumb. Weepingpaw puffed up his chest and sat a little taller, smug with himself. It didn't last long. His head went down between his shoulders, and he drew his ears back while his big orange eyes drifted toward said Mother, who would be deciding his fate.
Ahhhh! She was already glaring at him. He wiggled closer to the deputy, even though she was just as unreasonable as Momster was. He hadn't even done anything yet! How come he had to be quiet? How would he get a new parent if he couldn't talk? Plus, mice weren't quiet! They squeaked all the time. Did she mean his paws? He could keep his paws as silent as a mouse. That made more sense than him not talking. So quiet paws, got it.
"Super quiet, I will be, promise." He nodded and perked up when he got an okay from Dawnstar. Yay! He could stay. Weepingpaw happily snuggled underneath his Mama and stretched to lick her chin while purring loudly. He lowered his volume when a big, scarred black and white tom jumped onto the rock and pushed into Mamawhisker's personal space. His fur bristled in alarm, and a soft growl bubbled from his throat as he got ready to nip the tom's big paws. Who did he.... Hang on!
Weepingpaw leans forward to gingerly sniff at the tom's paws while he offers something to Mamawhisker. Ha! He smelled like flowers and bunnies! WindClan! Yessss! New Dad! Weepingpaw's tail practically vibrated as his pupils overtook his irises in excitement. There was purring, of course, at first he thought it was him, but his ears told him otherwise. He peered around his Mama's bulk to find the source of purring. Houndpaw! When did he get up here? Who the heck was that guy?
His initial desire to tell Houndpaw about New Dad got sidetracked when he saw the big black and gray tom. It took a few sniffs to figure out that he belonged to RiverClan. Weepingpaw liked his scars, and it looked like he was missing an ear, kinda like Houndpaw, but he had nothing on New Dad. The WindClan deputy was prettier, not as stunning as Momster or Mamawhisker, but he was up there with the prettiest.
His head snapped back to New Dad as he dropped something near him, his gift that Mamawhisker rejected, and introduced himself. The apprentice loved this guy; he seemed way better than Baddad. Dawnstar shouldn't be allowed to pick out dads anymore. Mistlewhisker was better at it. Momster could pick out Moms, she was good at that.
"Hi, Weepingpaw, my name is. Be you..." He paused for a second, thinking long and hard. "Crowdad," He settled on that name for now and picked up his shell and the mistle, and began nudging the tom's leg with his nose so he could crawl underneath him for a free cuddle.
"Thanks." He adds, regardless of whether he successfully weasled his way underneath the other deputy.
"Mean, Mamawhisker is not. Bleeding or dead, you'd be if mean she was being. Nice, she is, like your gift, maybe she does not?" He tells Crowdad after he sets down the shell and the mistle. Weepingpaw wasn't sure what Crowtooth had given him, but he just accepted it cause why not. He liked gifts. If Crowtooth wanted to give Mistlewhisker gifts, he should figure out what she liked first. Of course, she'd reject them otherwise. Still, at least he was trying; it was more than Weepingpaw could say for his mentor.
"Like what does Crowdad? A gift next time I give you." He meowed, granted he still had to give Sleepysun a gift, and hunt something for Momster, but he was working on it.
"Sit with Mamawhisker, Mutt can. Sit with Crowdad, I will." He called to his brother, who was glaring daggers at the WindClan deputy. He lifted a paw to boop his brother on the nose for glaring, but he was too far away.
"Nice to Crowdad, be. Like him, Mamawhisker does, Bite said. New Dad, he is. Better dad than Baddad, he is. A gift he got Mamwhisker, like it she does not, so mine it is." He nudged his mistle towards Houndpaw, ignoring all the older cats in favor of his brother.
"See, good dad he is." He meowed, trying to win his brother over. As much as Weepingpaw loved his other siblings, most of them didn't get him like Houndpaw did. Plus, none of the others were trying to help him get more parents for the family. Houndpaw was his pawtner in crime. He had to side with him on this.
"Lessons from Crowdad, Bite should take, you think?" He asked his brother, glancing judgmentally at the Enforcer Commander as he drew closer to the rock. If he brought Dawnstar more gifts, maybe she'd like him more.
The tom, whose name he learned was Flintclaw, was speaking. He wasn't talking to him but over him, which was fine. Weepingpaw couldn't care less about him, but he couldn't leave the comment about taking over the stone alone. Since he's successfully claimed his new dad, he'd rather not, but he could get down. He didn't want to be a bother. He could try to get to know Crowdad better by sitting at the bottom of the stone.
"A badcat, I am not. Down I will get, if up here you want me not. A bother, I do not wish to be." He'd peer around his Mama and brother to look at Flintclaw as he spoke.
Oh great another one. Mistlewhisker turned to Houndpaw, brows raised. "All that stealth training and you still cannot manage to sneak up on someone?" She pulled her other son to sit beside Weepingpaw, leaning down to growl lowly at them. "The moment one of you causes a scene, I am going to feed you rocks and toss you into the ocean." Was she serious? Was she joking? Best not to give her a reason to try.
Mistlewhisker peered up at Dawnstar and grunted in acknowledgement. It wasn't her genetics that made them like this, now was it? That was the unfortunate bit of taking in the Leader's children as her own. She actually had to, you know, parent them. But these toms hadn't encountered a pissed-off Mistlewhisker yet. She prayed, for their sakes, that they didn't give her a reason to become that cat. Despite their behavior, they were hard working toms, and their training had been going well. So even with the ice-cold words dropped between them, she curled her tail around her paws and encased them in the warm fur of her belly. Legends say if the two apprentices listened closely enough, they might hear a slow, barely-there purr from the Deputy. But who believes in legends anyway.
Of course, Crowtooth's arrival began the longest part of her night; weathering his antics. The ugly plant in his mouth only earned an unimpressed sneer, though she was surprised he even knew what a mistle was. Flintclaw's introduction earned a more cordial dip of the head, though his next comment had her raising a brow, as though she had no idea what he was talking about. "You should have seen Spiderstar's children, they tried the same thing. If I recall," she canted her head, "they were much more... demanding."
The Gathering would start any moment, but Weepingpaw's body began wiggling away from hers, and before she could look down he had planted himself into Crowtooth's side, the word "Crowdad" falling from his lips. All of the softness evaporated instantly from the Deputy. Mistlewhisker hooked her paw around the smaller brown tom, dragging him to her. "You are correct in your assumption that I want you off. That tom is not your father, and it is insulting to hear you call him that." Of course Weepingpaw was here to gain another father. That's all he damn did! She was enraged at herself for falling for his big eyed trick, but mildly impressed he'd managed to plan this far ahead in his quest for more family. But her fury at the audacity of his behavior eclipsed all of that. "I am insulted that you think you need a father in order to make your family whole. Get off. Both of you." Mistlewhisker locked eyes with Hawkbite in the crowd, the sharpness of her gaze enough of a command. When he got close, she helped with the transfer of the apprentices so they wouldn't hurt themselves. "Deal with them. Take them home if you must." She looked at the two, probably bawling, apprentices. "We will talk after the Gathering. You two need to learn boundaries."
With that she leapt upon the Seastones again, settling down with her tail curled over her paws as though nothing had happened at all. Her icy green gaze slid to Crowtooth, all friendship and warmth gone. "If you attempt to use my family in your game again, I will carefully carve out your eyes, switch their sockets, and reattach them with pine sap." She sliced her claws through the mistle at her paws, affirming just what she thought of it. This Gathering better be the shortest damn Gathering in the history of the clans.
